kinaley
Hello All, Sorry I am lazy enough to go through all the Licensing and upgrade information. Just a quick question. If i buy unRAID v 6.x, in future upgrade to v7.x, v8.x how do you charge ? It is same as buying a new license or nominal fee. Thanks Quote Link to comment
itimpi
Licenses have always been for life and valid for all versions so yes they should be free, Edited March 31, 2019 by itimpi 1 Quote Link to comment
BRiT
Nothing is definitive and we dont work for the company and things could possibly change in the future, but here is how things have historically been treated from my personal experience: Your license is good for life for the version you purchased. Same license from 4.x has been valid for version 5.x upgrades. Same license from 4.x/5.x has been valid for version 6.x upgrades. There have been huge changes from version 4.x to version 6.x during its 10+ year span. The OS went through multitude of feature enhancements, from only supporting 32bit to supporting 64bit, from supporting ide to supporting sata, to supporting drives over 2tb, to supporting even higher number of data drives, to supporting dual parity, to supporting cache drive pools, to supporting virtual machines, to supporting device pass-through, to supporting docker containers, to supporting newer cpus, to supporting more cpu cores, to supporting more memory. Thats is why most feel comfortable in saying you will likely have the license for life and will be able to upgrade to the next version. 1 Quote Link to comment

dnoyeb
https://lime-technology.com/wp/pricing/ This is answered on the pricing page. Quote Will I have to pay for upgrades to newer versions of unRAID as they are released? No. All Basic, Plus and Pro registration keys are eligible to run new releases of unRAID Server OS at no additional cost. Quote Link to comment

Ok, Got it now, Although LimeTech is a company you guys don't get paid by limetech for helping out here in community but I'm sure that might not apply to developers Quote Link to comment
