prostuff1
Is there away I can use unraid as my own email server? There is probably a way to do it, though I have not looked into it. With things like gmail and stuff being free, I don't see much of a point in setting up my own email server. Link to comment
kizer
Only real reason I've never attempted is I'd rather not hang my unRAID out there with inbound and outbound connections. All need is somebody sniffing my machine trying to break in via an open port. Link to comment

squirrellydw
slighty off topic what email service do you recommend that supports IMAP at a resonable price? Don't say google, I am using them now and would like to try something different and to be honest I don't trust them. Link to comment

I've always liked to roll with my own domain, that way if I ever change providers I can take my email addresses with me. I know you don't say Google, but for $10/year you can get your own domain and all the Google Apps stuff. But, if you don't like Google, there are plenty of high quality shared web hosts that support pretty much unlimited IMAP addresses. I use sharkspace as my web host and am very happy with them. But I ended up ditching the included email to have Google host it, as their spam filters are stellar. Link to comment
dgaschk
Where did you find $10/yr? I can only find $50/yr with no domain name. Link to comment
kaiguy
$50/year is for Google Apps for Business. You want regular Google Apps, up to 50 accounts: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html The $10/year is for the domain registration. Link to comment

I believe you can sign up for that service for free if it is for personal use. Only reason why I use Google Mail with my own domain is I'm able to get email from every where. Link to comment
