  1. Your pictures show the system doing a POST startup test. Your USB drive hasn't been booted at that point. Regardless of the unRaid version you have installed, the USB drive is not booted up. Check your BIOS settings again, make sure it's set to boot from the USB key. It was probably reset when you took the key out to reformat it. If it really is set to boot from USB then try doing the format from a DOS prompt instead of using the Windows Shell Extension. Run cmd.exe as admin. At the DOS prompt change to the USB drive. Run make_bootable.bat Close the DOS window and eject the key properly from Windows. Put the key in your unRAID box, Boot, Enter setup and check to see that the USB is set as the first drive to boot. Make any changes and Exit setup to continue booting.
  2. Are you sure you're looking in the right place? http://tower/Utils/ActiveStreams There is no icon to get there in the Utils. Going there directly shows this: Warning: passthru(): Cannot execute a blank command in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/webGui/template.php on line 441
  3. I'm not seeing the active streams plugin icon in the GUI. Checking the log shows this: Feb 25 17:35:46 unRaid logger: Verifying package simpleFeatures.active.streams-1.0.10-i486-1.txz. Feb 25 17:35:46 unRaid logger: Installing package simpleFeatures.active.streams-1.0.10-i486-1.txz: Feb 25 17:35:46 unRaid logger: PACKAGE DESCRIPTION: Feb 25 17:35:46 unRaid logger: WARNING: Package has not been created with 'makepkg' Feb 25 17:35:46 unRaid logger: Package simpleFeatures.active.streams-1.0.10-i486-1.txz installed. Could second to last line have something to do with it? Rest of the plugins are working.
  4. Just finishing up a preclear on 3 DX drives. Bought them online so didn't get to choose models, I didn't care though, I just need more space. My drives are rarely up and spinning for any long periods of time so extra heat or noise is not a factor. In fact I'm quite surprised with how quiet these drives are. The precelar temps have been just fine. They're in a 5-3 Icydock. Hightemps on the left side went to 38c, middle 41c, right 39c. Now in the final read stage (90%) they are: 35c, 37c, 34c. Incidentally, I bought 2 from Amazon, 2 from Buy.com. They're all DX's but the ones from Buy have a foil anti-tamper tape wrapped around the drive and shield. It get's ruined when you peel it back so they'd know the drive was removed from the external case.
  5. Let's say the OP has a Movie share, the Include setting is set to Disk 5. Meaning only Disk 5 will be allowed to contain the Movie share. Now he assigns Disk 5 to Disk 2. What happens to the Movie share Include setting? Does it automatically update from "Include: Disk 5" to "Include: Disk 2"? I'll do a test myself and see what happens... was just curious. Update: Did a test. Moving disks will not automatically update the Include/Exclude settings in the share to the new location.
  6. Just curious. If he as a share(s) set to include/exclude certain drives would that be automatically updated to account for the new drive slot? Say he has a Movies share set to include drive 5. Then he assigns drive 5 to drive 2 slot. Will he have to manually change the Movies share to include drive 2 instead?
  7. 1) Case doesn't matter. I'd avoid the underscore, some older devices might not like it. Dashes are ok to use. 2) Yes; that's where you change it followed by rebooting 3) Yes; You'd have to update all your connecting devices to the new host name
  8. F5 wasn't working for me, I either needed to reboot or write a file to the directory. Had this problem like crazy with rc8a. Clicking something outside the share than back on a file name (not empty space) and hitting F5 usually (not always) worked for me. Finally had enough so I updated to rc11 and was certain to run the new permissions utility right after. Everything has been fine for 1 week now, not a single refresh problem where before it was almost access.
  9. I've noticed all the drive lights flash about every second when the SF GUI is open. This happens with 1.0.5 and 1.0.11. Closing the page stops the blinking. It's polling the drives for some reason even when their spun down. Haven't done a parity check within SF so can't say if this effect slows things down. I'll try to do a check tomorrow and see.
  10. Doesn't look too concerning to me. More like your VPN appliance probed your ports for some reason. Check its' log file. If someone was gaining access through VPN they would get an IP on your local LAN but it wouldn't be your VPN appliances IP.
  11. That's the way. Looks like the install instructions were corrected a couple minutes ago. Makes sense now. Thanks Speeding_Ant!, SF is great.
  12. No - the instructions are correct. The /boot/config/plugins folder is where the PREVIOUS version of SimpleFeatures was installed. I disagree. It clearly states "Create folder called "plugins" inside the config folder". Then it references a plugins folder (/boot/plugins) that's not inside the config folder. Can't have it both ways.
  13. "2. Create folder called "plugins" inside the config folder of the flash drive - "/boot/plugins"" Shouldn't line 2 of the install instructions read "/boot/config/plugins" ?? Even then all the .plg files reference "/boot/plugins" which is outside "config" folder. I like to keep things tidy so this plg should stay in the "/boot/config/plugins" folder with the rest of my stuff. Is there some reason why it's creates it's files outside that now? v1.0.5 had all the support files under "/boot/config/plugins/simplefeatures". That worked great.
  14. From the top of the comments section: "wtfunbubba 5 months ago Woops I thought I mentioned that in the description. The skin is Cirrus. I'm rockin' Metropolis now but I? sure miss Cirrus' TV view."
  15. You made the right decision IMHO. It would only add to the complexity of your setup and something else to troubleshoot if there's a problem. Yes, 1 gigabit is more than plenty for the average home setup.
  16. You could use one cable, IPMI will fallback to the regular lan port if nothing is connected to the management port. I believe it will only fallback to lan1 not lan2. To your second question do a search for network bonding. There was some posts about it recently. I doubt it will show as two IP's on your router. Instead the two NICs would share a MAC address and the data is load balanced between them. At least that's the way I think it works, never tried it myself.
  17. Since when did Youtube start accepting porn submissons?? Between unRaid, the girl, and all that screwing, I was satisfied. Protip: It helps to imagine the camera operator was her twin sister and not a slimy boyfriend.
  18. The flash /config folder should contain all the files that are in the /config folder of the unRaid zip file (go, ident.cfg, disk.cfg, etc.). You will also place your .key in there as well. The rest of the files should be on the VMDK. You could put all the files on the flash in case you want to boot the flash from a different machine for some reason. After the system is booted the VMDK is not touched again. All updates to configuration are done on the flash. The system finds the config files there because the volume name is UNRAID as opposed to the VMDK which is unraidboot in your case. That means you should put plugins on the flash as well. UnRaid mounts the flash (at /boot) but it doesn't mount the VMDK so it's easier to just put Preclear on the flash. If you wanted to go the extra step you could mount the VMDK from the command line but why bother?
  19. Here's what fixed it for me: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=24782.msg225291#msg225291
  20. Just upgraded to rc11. I'm getting this message at bootup: unable to resolve host address unraid.zeron.ca Pings to that address are resolved. I'm thinking that unraid networking isn't up and running before that connection is attempted. Any workarounds? Update: It was the NIC. Was slow to take up the DHCP. Set the IP to static and it's all good now.
  21. $161.49 at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Desktop-External-STCA4000100/dp/B00829THLE I'm not a Costco member so was jealous reading that other thread the past two weeks. These ended up being cheaper for me in the end, free shipping and no tax here!
  22. That's correct. Just suggested it as something to rule out in case you still had an older version of tools installed. How are the temps? Sometimes overheated RAM can cause freezing. Load up the IPMI (assuming your MB has that?) and check the event log to see if the MB sensors picked up on any RAM or CPU issues.
  23. When you upgraded to rc11 did you also drop in the new vmtools? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=11449.0
  24. Correct. I just ran several tests with different configurations and it seems that the VMDK you install unRaid on must be IDE. When setting up an unRaid VM the only option for drive creation is SCSI. Installing to that drive gives the 'waiting for /dev/disk/by-label/UNRAID' error after booting. Creating an IDE drive under Windows XP works fine with rc11.
  25. Sorry I can't be much more help without seeing how you're setting things up. Last time I did this was with 5rc8a but can't imagine rc11 would be any different. Later tonight I'll do a test with rc11 to see how it behaves.
