  1. Dam in .ca their expensive -- $167.00 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842102131&cm_re=CyberPower_PFC_Sinewave_Series_CP1000PFCLCD-_-42-102-132-_-Product $223.00 CDN http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4FT2603132&cm_re=CyberPower_PFC_Sinewave_Series_CP1000PFCLCD-_-42-102-132-_-Product Guess I should get some money aside for one for my unraid, do you think the 850 will be fine or should I go 1000 ? The only thing that is going to be plugged into it is the unraid server... that's it.
  2. Hello, I have not owned a UPS at all before, but I have been trying to research one for my UnRAID system. I am not sure if there are UPS that work with UnRAID software. As in ... When the UPS detects power loss, the UnRAID server sees that (via some addon) and safely shuts down the server. I have been looking at APC and Cyber UPS. I also saw greycase had said something about AVR circuits, I am not sure what that is, but trying to research. Anyone have any good input on what they have liked or used ? Thanks for the help...!
  3. I can stop array, and reboot cleanly all the time. This was the only time I had the issue... What about adjusting the release notes ? That would be a nice addition to have added back into the installation instructions.
  4. Hello, I am and always have been a fan of updating my flash drive manually by shutting down my server. Pulling the flash out, making a backup and then updating the server kernel version. However I thought I'd try the GUI update for a change. So I did that, and upon shutting down my server after the update, my drives stuck in a loop trying to un-mount. I tried to 'powerdown' from terminal but that didn't work either. So I had to hard reset my server, which then detects a unclean power down, which in turn starts a parity check. I noticed in the release notes / installation text of newer version, they only have instructions on 'how to make a FRESH flash drive' going forward would it be possible to include a installation text that also includes 'upgrading from previous versions' as well, like all older releases use to have. Perhaps this one problem persisted just this once with the GUI update, but there is little to no instruction on this. Maybe you are suppose to stop the array before you run the GUI update? So your drives don't get stuck in a unmount loop? I don't know, perhaps some feedback on this would be nice. Thank you
  5. I just purchased a AOC-SASLP-MV8 for my Biostar A880G+ I can seem to see the card and access the BIOS for it, however when it boots, it says no physical drives detected. How did you get the card to work with that board. Firmware on my card is 3.1.0.21 -- it is installed in the PCI16X (GFX) slot on the board. Maybe if you know what motherboard BIOS you have too, maybe that can assit me ? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=27129.0 I read this but still having no success with this board and card, didn't want to return it if I did'nt have to. EDIT/ UPDATE: After messing around a bit, I pulled cables from another server to test.... Semms you need Molex -3003 cables ... The -3002 which i was using, do no work. I do believe these are maybe reverse.... sigh, but however at least the problem is solved!
  6. OK, I figured it was close to the same, and generally those 'upgrade' notes are in each release. That's what rasied the question was all. I'll try this new way through the GUI, 6.0 is the first release with that I do believe, I am just use to old methods. I always took it offline, made a backup of my flash drive, then copied new files over and rebooted. Like making a backup in case problems persist with new version... guess I am a little old school that way I'll make a backup shortly here, and try this new GUI update method, seems handy. Thank you for the input
  7. I have a build that I am quite happy with that uses a SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8. However, my friends unraid system that he uses has a ... Socket : AM3 A880G+ Ver. 6.x http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=492#spec Which that board does not have a PCI-E 4x slot for the SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8. Anyone have a recommendation what expansion card he could use for his board that would let him expand his array ? PROMISE SATA300 TX4 PCI SATA II (3.0Gb/s) 4-Port Adapter http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816102065 I thought of this, but I think that product is discontinued... Thanks for any suggestions. 8. Cool, still like to know the manual way as well, so i am not sure if my above post is correct or not. not updating via GUI ... rather copying files from zip to flash
  9. Hello, This might be a noob question and make people 'sigh' however I noticed in the readme (changes) that there were only instructions for 'FRESH INSTALL' and not for upgrading from current version 6.0 to 6.x.x I wanted to clearify and be sure before I upgrade my usb (manually from a Windows PC) that I have this correct. Would I follow the instructions from the 6.0.0 README that states : If you are currently running any previous 6.0-beta To manually upgrade, it is only necessary to copy these files from the zip file to the root of your USB Flash device: - bzimage - bzroot - license.txt - readme.txt - syslinux/syslinux.cfg (see below) And that is the process going forward ? I assume it is.... as well I always make a backup of my flash drive before altering files on it Let me know when you have a moment. Perhaps the 'upgrade' instructions can be added to future release 'README/CHANGES' text file in the future. Thank you
  10. Thanks to all, I spoke too soon. I just loaded up my Ubuntu flash image, booted to that with the drive, and formatted it no problem. Unix solves everything .... ALWAYS haha The windows methods you replied didn't work, appreciate the input, and thank you as always !!
  11. Hey there, I have a few old 2TB drives I have taken out of my array and would like to format them NTFS... however when I plug them into a windows system, the drive does not detect or mount. What do I have to do to get them formatted NTFS Do I have to load up unbuntu maybe to see the reiserFS ? Let me know if you can... Thanks
  12. I am still trying to solve the problem, was interesting to see someone else had the same issue with subsonic :-/
  13. I tried that and it successfully deleted the folder, however upon reboot the folder re-appears, not sure why
  14. This is strange... I had subsonic on my flash drive when running 5.0.6, which i never did end up using. When I upgraded to 6.0.0 ( I did not copy any of the contents from the old flash to the new one) I did a FRESH INSTALL of UnRAID 6.0 ... However, one of my disk shares disk11 has a subsonic folder on the root of the disk, not sure why it created it. When I access the share and try to delete it, because I don't need it at all, it says you need permission to perform this action, yet I am logged in as root or admin and I can not remove it. Is there a simple way to get rid of this folder and the contents of it, from the GUI / Client or Console ? Thanks Also on a side note, I just noticed that when a disk is spun up and active, it doesn't seem to display or show the temp of the active disks anymore, just shows a * my cache disk is the only one that seems to be showing a temp at the moment
  15. Must say thank you for the final release of UnRAID 6.0 -- The transition from 5.0.6 to 6.0 directly was smooth. Only thing I had was PLEX as an 'extra' so I took that extra folder with my 'new flash install' and was able to use PLEX 64bit now. I never used plugins or anything too fancy, however, there is a lot to read and learn going forward, when I can make some time. I must say I LOVE the new DASHBOARD tab on the GUI, and the GUI itself looks really clean, excellent work. So far the process was nice. Guess I'll have to search to see if there is a new preclear version out too before I add some more drives. I hope the community does not mind my post here, I wanted to say thank you for all the hard work, I LOVE UNRAID
  16. OK thank you. I have not had a dirty shut down in ages. I always give it a reboot before parity check. Thanks for the info. I am going to start another check tonight or tomorrow and see if the results differ.
  17. Hello, I have a question regarding parity check. I do my parity checks once a month on average, however I was curious to this : Last checked (twelve days ago), finding 5 errors. > Duration: 15 hours, 12 minutes, 38 seconds. Average speed: 73.1 MB/sec However In my list of disks, there are no errors. Each disk in the array shows 0 (zero) errors. Why is it coming back showing 5, but not showing the specific disk(s) in question. I am going to run another check soon for good measure, but wanted to ask while it was on my mind. Thank you.
  18. Any issues with users using 6TB drives in their servers, I assume UnRAID supports that disk size ? First related post I have seen with issues regarding 6TB disk
  19. Alright sounds good. Yah, when you invoke the re-build, it clears the disk before hand (formatting it in some way) , just wasn't sure if I should pre_clear again. I'll do just that, replace DISK 4 with DISK 10, and start the rebuild. Thank you.
  20. Hello, I had a quick question to moving disks around in an UnRAID environment. All disks in question were pre_cleared once from purchase date. Basically what I am doing is replacing DISK10 (2TB) with a 4TB Disk, so that is re-building now. I am then going to replace DISK 4 (500GB) with the OLD DISK 10 (2TB). Being that DISK 10 (2TB) has data on it (which is being rebuilt now) Do I need to pre_clear DISK10 again before adding it into DISK 4's place? Or can I simply remove DISK 4, put DISK 10 in and allow it to format and re-build VIA UnRAID GUI. Thank you
  21. Guess I'll just use that command and hope for the best
  22. OK I should have said sdX (where X is the drive I want to clear) I know which one I am doing, I preclear in a seperate system away from my array (1 drive hooked up) So is my invoke OK , that's what I am trying to clearify here. Thank you.
  23. Yes I do believe I am, but perhaps I will double check. The PC is just standing by in the preclear screen now. Top right shows 1.13 - doh looks like 1.15 is out http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2817.0;attach=20382 So I will get the updated version, is my 'invoke' command correct ? preclear_disk.sh /dev/sda (for this disk and any future preclear disk) ?
  24. Hello, sorry for the quick question. When preclearing a drive (this one in question is a 4TB) you invoke: preclear_disk.sh /dev/sda The 2 statements it makes before preclearing are: partition starting on sector 63 partition not 4k-aligned I have my 'disk settings' in UnRAID set to 4k-align as well. So do I need to worry about what it is stating for the preclear? Just wanted to make sure before I go ahead with it. Thank you
  25. Myself personally I preclear outside my array with a different system, then add the drive to my array, but that is just my method. That way I know the one task is being done without any other potential tasks running with it. (i.e. maybe the issue of the hang up you are having) I can't advise to stop or cancel the preclear as I am not 100% sure to what would happen with the disk, perhaps one of the more experienced people can assist if it OK to stop and start over. If you are going to, perhaps try my recommendation if you have a spare system. Being a mac user, you may not, silly mac :-p (not making fun, you like what you like) Hope you get it figured out, sorry I could not shed some more light on the matter.
