Preclear plugin
@gfjardim thank you! Preclear is, to me, a critical component of sticking with Unraid . May I buy you a beer or two? (PayPal, bitcoin, etc?)

Additional Scripts For User.Scripts Plugin
Thanks @nuhll I beat on this one for awhile, but alas my ignorance won the battle

Preclear plugin
Yes I do - I specifically use Unraid preclear (historicaly preclear script, more recently the plugin) to stress test all HDD prior to using in any other computer... And use preclear to wipe any disks going out of commission... Both in my personal life (friends & family) and at work. It has saved us from a couple handfulls of early bathtub failures.

Preclear plugin
Preclear 6.4.1 confirmations - using a 2 TB Seagate Ironwolf as a guinea pig Patched Plugin works fine! Manually installing the forked plugin @sureguy shared works great – just note that the status on Main\UD takes a bit to update - jumping over to plugins/preclear loads the preclear status immediately. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dohlin/unRAID-plugins/master/plugins/preclear.disk.plg @mods - any chance this forked plugin link can be noted on the first/top post? … Patched Script works fine! Unzipping JoeL.s script into the root flash folder https://lime-technology.com/forums/topic/2732-preclear_disksh-a-new-utility-to-burn-in-and-pre-clear-disks-for-quick-add/ using terminal to patch it via cd /boot sed -i -e "s/print \$9 /print \$8 /" -e "s/sfdisk -R /blockdev --rereadpt /" preclear_disk.sh works just fine side note cd /boot preclear_disk.sh –l returns all of the disks available to preclear after a single string print error (no big deal) Screen (or Screen -r) cd /boot preclear_disk.sh -A /dev/sdX runs the preclear script to completion and the 3 output reports in the flash/preclear reports folder look great

Preclear plugin
@gfjardim any interest in a bounty to restore the preclear functionality within current Unraid? The patched Joe L. Script works, but this plugin is sublime.

Preclear plugin
Thanks Frank1940 - i need to run preclears and this saved me a lot of digging to re-enable joes script. Fingers crossed that this plugin will live again in the near future! I feel the following is too important to not post here as well: So Disk2 which has been in use for a few years now was kicked offline in the array... but the disk has no negative smart report items. I moved the Disk2 to another slot on the backplane, set the array to use NONE in disk2, used MC to move the emulated Disk2 data to disk3 and disk4, then began a preclear on Disk2 (which was no longer physically assigned to the array) Running a preclear on this disk has given me the confidence that the physical port of my backplane has faulted and not the physical disk. To the 6.4.1 naysayeers... Preclear is a critical component of Unraid. It is great to have as a plugin, but will use screen and terminal if the Joe L script is all we are allotted. I personally do not feel comfortable just tossing a bare drive into the array without a few cycles of passes... and have had a goodly portion of drives fail a preclear before ever touching my array. In addition, any data drive that is taken OUT of commission has a preclear run on it to destroy data prior to recycling or sale. --- so long as it is physically able to run.

Pass through a host DVD Drive
Tonight I tested blacklisting a pcie card which works just fine. Note that you must select a card that works with ODD/DVD/BD/etc... or flash a card to use IDE mode. The following works out of the box StarTech.com 2 Port PCI Express SATA 6 Gbps eSATA Controller Card https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00952N2DQ Because of the chipset it uses: Asmedia ASM1062 Under flash I added vfio-pci.ids=(my [id] info from system devices) I also had to add iommu=pt Under system devices

[Support] Djoss - CrashPlan PRO (aka CrashPlan for Small Business)
This makes sense to me... But what does not make sense is that under the Docker settings for storage i have /mnt/user .. And under the WebGui's Details/Manage file i can back up to Root /config /defaults /flash /home /lib64 /libexec /media /mnt ... but everything downstream of /mnt is 'broken/blank' .... edit: nm. Now i see a grey scroll bar in the gui to get down to /storage. barely visible in my browser Thank you greatly! (this gui is a massive step backwards)

Thanks a bunch for the assistance @Djoss! Originally everything appeared ok, having run the following due to migrating from 'that other docker' prior to starting up for the first time: cp -a /mnt/user/appdata/CrashPlan /mnt/user/appdata/CrashPlanPRO "Just re-select your files, they are under /storage." Under the WebGui's files I see all the same folders selected: Root>mnt>user CJK1, CompInstalls, etc ..BUT the size shows a dash, as does the date modifed, and a note out to the right indicates 'file is missing' When I click into the folders subfolders/files are all missing. Even if i must reupload all, that is ok as it works out to only be 1 TB ... Note that on the webportal if i select any date prior to 2 days ago all the files still exist for recovery. The log is attached Log for_ CrashPlanPRO.html edit: under the original crashplan container i see the storage (mnt/user) has read/write while under crashplan pro container it is marked as read only. This article highlights the symptoms i am experiencing: https://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/4/Troubleshooting/File_selection_shows_0MB_selected

Oh boy... woke up this morning, all directories still selected, but now web ui says files are missing and zero size... and crashplan's website also indicates zero files available for backup. bummer my docker's storage location is /mnt/user and i have a few share's selected in crashplan for backup. it just... isn't recognizing any subfolders/files in these shares. Given that all the files disappeared from backup from the online portal, I deleted the appdata, restarted fresh. Still, no joy. FYI, the online portal restore/'show deleted' indicates the paths in light grey for yesterday and today... but they are not backing up. grr

@Djoss another legacy Crashplan docker user, now on Pro Docker due to the autoupdating into a black screen. No problems updating nor adding in the memory. Thanks!

Pass through a host DVD Drive
I would also be highly interested in a more elegant odd sata passthrough solution. @jonp @lime13tech Guys, anything better than the below for this? what i know works. Pass through a controller that has been flashed specifically for ODD (issue: manual flash is a pita, eats up an entire expansion slot on the mobo) PCI Syba SD-SATA-4P Flashed to b5500 bios (IDE) Sata 4 port for ODD Chipset Sil3114 PCIe 1 StarTech Sata 2 port for ODD Chipset ASM1062 Pass through as a USB device. (issues: doesn't always work, trying to pass through 2 optical drives this way and the vm doesn't want to start, and read is slow). Generic USB 2.0 to 7+6 13Pin Slimline SATA Laptop CD/DVD Rom Optical Drive Adapter Cable. fyi, while the pictures of these tend to show 1 usb port, most take 2 (and extra dongle for power). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C574Q5G

Additional Scripts For User.Scripts Plugin
can this script be duplicated for removing other items? for example if i replace ".DS_Store" with ".trash-1000" will it remove the .trash-1000 folder and all subfolders/subfiles on each disk when present? as the .trash-1000 ends up in the root of any given share, can the maxdepth be set to 1? Thanks!

Additional Scripts For User.Scripts Plugin
I LOVE this plugin along with UD for automated backups! Thanks Squid TOWER is the primary storage device with SMB shares, some private TOWER2 is a backup of TOWER, with no SMB/NFS shares. This also happens to be a lowly D525! All on TOWER2 Use the Unassigned Devices Plugin to Mount a SMB share to your unRAID Source machine for each source to be backed up. Set Unassigned Devices settings page SMB share to yes, hidden, fully private. Use the User Scripts Plugin and add 2 scripts which can then be scheduled or run on demand from the plugin #Backup script to write once, never update rsync -r -v --progress --ignore-existing -s /mnt/disks/TOWER_Media/Movies/ /mnt/user/Media/Movies rsync -r -v --progress --ignore-existing -s /mnt/disks/TOWER_Media/Music/ /mnt/user/Media/Music #Backup to sync all rsync -av --progress --delete-before /mnt/disks/TOWER_Work/ /mnt/user/Work rsync -av --progress --delete-before /mnt/disks/TOWER_Docs/ /mnt/user/Docs (note that my write once, never update are local files only as the physical media is all in my crawl - my sync all have historical snapshots captured via the crashplan pro docker on TOWER)

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Good day DLandon, I am using UD to mount TOWER hidden private shares on TOWER2 for use in rsync backup (where TOWER2 is a clone of TOWER, but has no smb on the shares enabled. The rub is that TOWER2 is displaying the shares, such as TOWER_Documents share in smb for anyone to view on the network. Any good workarounds for this? Thank you! mods - feel free to delete edit - clicked on help, guided me to enable smb export under settings/ud, and then i set to hidden export. this is acceptable with zero access enabled.

Sub'd Can the Docker / is the Docker 64bit? Assuming the Docker is a 64 bit linux desktop we should, hopefully, be OK. . May finally be time to move away from the older CP Docker

[CONTAINER] CrashPlan & CrashPlan-Desktop
This worries me... At what point does CP stop reoccurring system updates? Is that what is even occurring?
-
[CONTAINER] CrashPlan & CrashPlan-Desktop
I did not know we now have 2 CP dockers. So for now, we let gfjardim Docker update.... And if a reinstall is necessary we jump over to djoss/jlesage Docker?

[CONTAINER] CrashPlan & CrashPlan-Desktop
Would one of the Guinea pigs be so kind as to reboot their Unraid servers and see if the CP's Pro update is retained / works smoothly? Thanks!

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
I had the exact same issue on my second H310 and found a working solution of which I posted just 2 or 3 posts up from this one. Cheers Turns out what I did was convoluted and Fireball3 has a better method for versions of the Dell Perc H310 that are not initially recognized as an LSI adapter by his lovely flashing script! Try running 1b.bat rather than 1.bat... ignoring 2.bat's error... and then running 3b.bat rather than 3.bat. Once done... PM Fireball3 your fresh adapter.txt which will now be located on the USB drive used for the flashing. ta ta

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Thanks for adding this blurb in the Wiki Linked forum post Hopefully if anyone else gets a hold of one of the troublesome H310 cards, the 1b.bat and 3b.bat files will treat them well AND you will be able to automate the process using the proper logs. (unless they are a stubborn mule like myself)

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
correct. I just re-ran your tool and this time it ran from 1.bat->6.bat with no issue. Check your PM... perhaps something useful may be gleaned from the data? In regards to most WHY questions... these are the steps that 'finally' worked on this second H310 card. Not to be crass, but I would LOVE to see this blurb added to the end of your __READMEFIRST.txt guide. Thanks again for the awesome toolset
