  1. Suddenly my server is not accessible for my media player. Powered up my computer...same thing. GUI is available. See attached log. Luckily I have unMENU. SAMBA is STOPPED, Shared drives will not be visible on the LAN. Trying to start SAMBA from the unMENU GUI. Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke logger: Starting Samba: /usr/sbin/nmbd -D Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke logger: /usr/sbin/smbd -D Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke logger: Starting NFS server daemons: Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke logger: /usr/sbin/exportfs -r Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke logger: /usr/sbin/rpc.nfsd 8 Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke logger: /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd Feb 11 16:11:02 Tuerke mountd[5982]: Kernel does not have pseudo root support. Your help is appreciated! I'm running 5.0.4 Cheers [/pre] syslog_11.02.2014_no_smb_access.txt
  2. Yes, just read through the recent posts... Here is the thread. Now an update of unMENU would come in handy...
  3. I did some configuration stuff yesterday and also noticed this double entries in the logfile. Therefore I'm bumping this and perhaps Joe L will see it... I will also do the suggested change in the script.
  4. Search the forum. I don't remember exactly. I had the same problem. You have to delete the password files on your unRAID-stick. Then you can access the webgui again and set users and passwords properly.
  5. Ahh...finally. I copied the solution with quotes somewhere from a forum... But without it works now. Thank you!
  6. I have two ip's in a variable. pingIPs="192.168.178.150 192.168.178.153" my loop starts with: for i in "${pingIPs}" Something is wrong with the loop. I suppose the variable is not resolved into 2 strings so that there is no valid ip in the next steps. How is the loop supposed to look like? I also tried for i in "$pingIPs" Doesn't work either. Thank you for your help.
  7. The flash utility that was used is called lsiutil. Here is what he wrote: Then he did this: Unfortunately the 9240-8i is not IT firmware and most certain won't work with unraid! But you could at least flash something else on the card... Another thread to flash something else on that card.
  8. This is not good! I heard this issue from another guy I have been in touch with. But he flashed with another tool - not the sasflash or megarec. Don't remember at the moment... What about jimpa? Jimpa, you flashed the D2607 also. Are your both ports working with the IT firmware?
  9. I have another issue. In the manpage of crontab there is this: When I use @reboot /boot/auto_s3_sleep.sh 1> /dev/null 2>&1 in the above script, nothing happens. I assume cron does not know about the "reboot" because when the script is executed the reboot already passed? I know, I can put the call into the go file when it's supposed to start at reboot. Just curious why it doesn't work with the crontab and it's more comfortable to edit the mycrontab.txt
  10. The linked file in this post contains all necessary tools to flash the Perc H310. For each step use the sas2flsh.exe out of the corresponding directory! Follow each step and you should be fine. If not, post the full Flashlog.txt!
  11. Still interested? See here for S3 sleep / powerdown. Can you post some information about WOL from an unRAID machine?
  12. If you have NTFS file systems also read this. (when copying with SNAP/MC)
  13. LOL Just received word from seagate. Claudia (that's her name) tells me that she couldn't open the file attached to the ticket. As she doesn't know what tool I used she makes clear that only results from seatools are valid to her (seagate). If seatools don't indicate any problem, the drive is OK. Wow, that's the skill level that we're faced with... (FYI, I attached the preclear_finish...) Then she tells me if I refer to bad blocks, there would be no problem because they can be "replaced and repaired" in large quantities. Cool eh!? My drives CAN DO THAT! In my answer I copied the content of the preclear file into the mail but I guess there won't be an enlighting answer from seagate on this topic... A perfect start into weekend.
  14. Hmm, I don't know what you guys are doing... What about the previous steps? As far as I rembember it was: 1. delete the card with the empty.sbr (optionally with the h200.sbr) 2. flash the p7 firmware 3. flash the p16 firmware (wich will only work after p7) Please post the output for the P7 flash. I will look for and check the logs of my flashings. Perhaps we can see a difference then?
  15. Thank you for your feedback. Of course I will keep the logs, they are saved on the unRAID website. In fact, the bad blocks don't give me headaches. I'm more worried about this log entries: Error 418 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 55 hours (2 days + 7 hours) When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was active or idle. After command completion occurred, registers were: ER ST SC SN CL CH DH -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 40 51 00 ff ff ff 0f Error: UNC at LBA = 0x0fffffff = 268435455 Commands leading to the command that caused the error were: CR FR SC SN CL CH DH DC Powered_Up_Time Command/Feature_Name -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ---------------- -------------------- 60 00 08 ff ff ff 4f 00 1d+02:05:45.236 READ FPDMA QUEUED 27 00 00 00 00 00 e0 00 1d+02:05:45.209 READ NATIVE MAX ADDRESS EXT [OBS-ACS-3] ec 00 00 00 00 00 a0 00 1d+02:05:45.207 IDENTIFY DEVICE ef 03 46 00 00 00 a0 00 1d+02:05:45.194 SET FEATURES [set transfer mode] 27 00 00 00 00 00 e0 00 1d+02:05:45.166 READ NATIVE MAX ADDRESS EXT [OBS-ACS-3] Meanwhile I tested a second drive - the same model - and it logs the same errors as this one. I've opened a ticket with the seagate support. I'm curious about their answers.
  16. Budget starts when you can use things you already have. If you have to buy, then go for used parts on ebay. Don't waste money on a high-end board with many ports since you won't be able to reach 12-15 without an extra controller. Make sure your board has 1 or 2 PCIe x8 ports to populate with controller cards. (x4 ports are also good to go) Here's my toy: Maxed out, it will have 15 drives (with some additional modding i can push it to 17) - in a midi tower! It's not very comfortable to switch drives but I don't expect to do it every day. And IMHO it is a budget build. Mainboard ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO 15,00€ CPU Sempron 140 17,20€ Case Chieftec CS600 10,00€ (needed a third drive carrier to mod my existing case; better look for another case where you don't need backplanes at all; spend the money on a case without backplanes if possible; you will have better cooling and less noise) RAM 2x 2GB DDR3 12,00€ PSU Corsair 600W 40,00€ Cooler Stock AMD 0,00€ Fans 2x 80x80x10 case front 8€ 1x 80x80x20 case back (optional) 2x 80x80x15 replace backplane fans 15€ SAS Controller 2x DELL Perc H310 70€ (you don't need 2 of them - I just bought them together) SAS cabling 2x FSC T26139-Y4023-V501 forward breakout 30€ 2x DELL stock forward breakout (came with the controllers) 0€ some SATA cables that I already had 0€ Backplanes SNT2131 2x5.25"-->3x3.5" 25€ SNT2131 2x5.25"-->3x3.5" 25€ unRAID license 90€ If my excel is right, it sums up to 357€ (without drives - that is what I already had - at the moment 11). For my second toy and testing machine I found on ebay: Mainboard Supermicro X7SBA 30€ CPU Intel Celeron 445 6€ Both deliver enough performance for backups and streaming over SMB.
  17. Any experience with the Highpoint RocketRAID 1820? (not the 1820A!!!) It's a 8-port PCI-X 133MHz controller card based on the Marvell 88SX5080 chip. Questions: Does it support drives >2.2TB? unRAID compatibility? Thanks
  18. I experienced the same with supermicro, although on a different issue. Not very friendly nor helpful their support...
  19. Seems easy. And this won't conflict with the different security settings? Remember, the original share is "private" and the symlink share will be "public".
  20. Scenario: I have an existing share that is restricted to private access. In this share there is a folder which I would like to temporarily export as a share or make it accessible for public. How can I do this without copying that folder into an new dedicated share?
  21. RMA'd a Seagate ES2 drive and got back a repaired one. Ran preclear 3 times and ... see the results. What about those failures in the SMART log? preclear_reports.zip
  22. Does Hitachi also have green drives or do you use the 7200 rpm?
  23. Note! This cards don't support drives >2.2TB!
  24. Check what kind of CPU's your board is supporting. This will narrow down your possibilities.
  25. Also check this thread. And the listed adapters in the wiki.
