  1. just make sure you have 2 spare drives. I would replace you parity with a 2 or 3 tb before you start adding stuff. high water is ok. if you really want to have a back up set it up with a parity of 2 or 3tb then have double of what you want. eg 3 x 2tb in the array & 3 of 3 x 2tb spares not in array when you what you replace disk 1 & 2 with spares let them rebuild individually just make sure you keep track of spare 1 & 2. best with say 6 drives have a spare cleared to replace your parity
  2. I would replace it with another 3tb to prove it is ok
  3. 1st I would consider rebuilding a new disk 4 (disconnect existing one) & then if it is ok put in your new parity then rebuild without removing disk. how many drives have you got & sizes
  4. surely you should replace that drive to prove that you have no more issues, check all leads & plugs. I would not be mucking around if you replace it with a new drive & it rebuild ok then problem is solved. if another reballs then you could lose lots of data.
  5. what version of unraid, you are best to attach disks & pre clear them before adding them 1 at a time. did you do a backup of you usb & keep a print on the hdd arrangement before starting this. I always telenet in to the towers to check there is no errors there after previously getting a Reiserfs error on 2 drives awhile back, I removed them both & rebuilt the array then, but I wouldn't do that again just rebuild the Reiserfs tree. I built a basic server with the 2 & a blank parity & recovered most of what I had, but that is the long way round.
  6. hey check some of my posts on Reiserfs. check all cables are set right, then you may have rebuild Reiserfs tree if you still have an error. it can take a few hours for each disk but you should get most of it back.
  7. with the added webGui in v5 final, I have lost the option to pdf full pages the only way I can do it now is with greenshot but in a window but it is not very clear if zoomed in. see attached. can this be easy fixed or other ways to keep info please.
  8. I try to take screen shots of my hdd config regulary, & also backup my usb disk & date it onto mc pc in different locations. I do this before any upgrade or change & now know what goes where & can always go back if I need to.
  9. So my answer was not totally incorrect. as I had been there & done that before. this error can mainly from non correct power downs of the server (although I also lost windows access at the time mainly because it was accessing those 2 hdd). i had that issue awhile back so I pulled them out & made a new system with the existing by rebuilding parity, I could not find the answer back then (best to had rebuilt then with the existing but didn't want to lose too much data) but kept the 2 problem disk & built an old 3 disk in the existing to recover data (recovered most). I am building a new box & will relocated the old tower into it this month. I telenet to keep an eye on my servers but I only put them on when I need them. 1 tower has a spare (ex red ball hd) , while the other has 2 spares (+ my oldtower 3 hdd to take not in array).
  10. if you upgraded to 5 final did you do the new permission, oherwise you may have run reseisfdsck rebuild tree
  11. reiserfsck --rebuild-tree needs to run on those drives do a search on forum
  12. run reiserfs run tree to fix this problem on any of the disks eg md2. reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/md2 do a search here or on the web
  13. you need to run the new permissions after upgrading
  14. I have that m/b for my main intel use works great. but have only roughly tested it with just a unraid usb & did't get very far (I didn't play with too many settings), but I must try again soon. if you have it try it out with the unraid usb (i think this has quite a few sata connections) other wise buy a new board like the asus or asrock in my post (1150 cpu).
  15. thanks gary my preference is asus but some of the asrock are slightly cheaper or have more sata connections. eg asau $250 while something similar asrock could $200. but I really want is to give my asus p7h55 to somebody & build a newer server then with a 1150 m/b with 8+ sata & atleast 2+ pcie x4 or greater, possibly 1-2 pci the asrock extreme 4 & 6 look ok specs wise but costly over here in australia if available.
  16. I am looking at upgrading & building a new server, looking at 1150 i3 cpu with either a Asus z87 plus, z87-ws (if available in australia) or z87 c or arock z87 Extreme4, z87 Extreme4/tb4 or z87 Extreme6. I have 1 supermicro SAS2LP-MV8 card & would consider getting another down the track, but have some pci & pcie x1 sata cards I can use. 17. you may have to start slowly. do you have print your configuration. disconnect cards & hdd by removing 1 plug on each. start with the usb then work you way up to m/b drives & them cards & finally. v5 final 2 towers (1st 4tb 6x1.5 6x2tb, 2nd all 2tb) 14 hdd each 26 & 23 tb each both i3 & 4gb ram on 1156 cpu asus & giga boards
  18. nothing appears to being happening under --rebuild-tree I get a yes then nothing much happens or indicates anything
  19. i beg to differ md1 -24. once I discovered it I rebuilt a new disk into that location, the error appeared after rebuilt drive was finished. I am trying to rebuild that tree now and my error disks are nolonger 5 & 12 they are 1 & 2.
  20. i found even changing those drives to new or different ones, still showed the reiserfsck errors at that samelocation md5 or md12. did you have any luck getting rid of the reiserfsck errors.
  21. I had the same issue on md5 & md12 awhile back, I couldn't find any thing about that so I tried to copy off what I could. then I rebuilt array without those 2 hdd but kept them there & tried not to overwrite them. now I rebuilt a basic array with those 2 hdd & a clear parity in my stower02 with another usb but with the same data but named it stower02old. I have followed this thread closely but not much seems to be happening, I am having another go today. trying --fix-fixable, I will leave it for most of the day & try it again later. 22. hey see my rig near the bottom done that
  23. Tom here is STower02 modified from a 13bay duplicator case. I had to add a m/b tray to the case by cutting it down now I have extended it out the back with aluminium angle with screws & pop rivets. it has 5 4:3 cooler master cages (I added the extra drive bay over the power supply). I am running rc16c pro with 12x 2tb up top & I have 6x 2tb in the bottom 2 drive cages. I have figure out how to install 10 hdd into 5 bays & just need to mount a fan in front of them for cooling.
