  1. This will do nicely. Single 12 volt rail, full modular, platinum. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151121&cm_re=seasonic_660-_-17-151-121-_-Product They've pretty much fixed the backplane issue in the norco cases. If you end up having issues just contact norco directly and they will switch them out for you. Just hook a single molex to each backplane. I run 2 backplanes off each lead for a total of 3 leads from the power supply.
  2. NO ... FAR less than that. A complete system (motherboard, memory, and Xeon) will draw 20-25 watts when the CPU is idle [not counting whatever your hard drives are drawing]. Yes I know. I'm running one. I should have been more clear but I figured it was obvious... I mean how often are you running a CPU without motherboard or ram? As to OP's question. 650 watt is plenty for a 24 bay server. Get a good seasonic or corsair *single rail* gold rated or higher.
  3. I use plex transcode to ram (have 32gb). I noticed my docker image growing the other day but then when I decided to stop and restart plex to let it update itself the docker percentage went down considerably. You might want to try that to see if it helps.
  4. I prefer having a case that I can rack mount. It's just easier for me. That lian-li 8000 is cool though and if I was set up differently it would be tempting. I've had lot's of other lian-li cases in the past and they've been great.
  5. If you're going for absolute lowest power I don't know, someone else is going to have to jump in here. The I3 and xeon will idle about the same. If you want to save power probably the best thing you can do is use the largest capacity WD Red drives you can so you won't need as many of them and obviously keep them spun down whenever not in use. Here's a good thread that might help you make up your mind on which processor to choose. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40518.0
  6. You're looking at something like 20-25 watts idle power draw for the xeon.
  7. So with this board it means I will need 2 reverse breakout cables to connect to the backplane of the case? Correct.
  8. I'd check again because I don't think Intel I5's support ECC ram. If you're going to get a server board you might as well get a low end xeon e3 haswell instead of the i5. SMX10SL7-F with onboard 8 port SAS controller will let you do away with one of your IBM 1015's. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G36F9435&cm_re=x10sl7-f-_-13-182-821-_-Product I'd go with crucial ram instead of kingston. 9. I've had really good luck with Yamaha. I've had a couple of their AV amps as well as a 2 channel integrated (Yamaha A-S2100) that I dearly love.
  10. I still like wd reds plenty good. I've had 15 4TB reds running for about a year now. No doa and perfectly clean smart data on all of them. I see really no need to use 7200 rpm drives in unraid. They'll just run hotter and suck more power. I wouldn't fault anyone for using them though, and they would probably speed up parity checks a bit, but for me personally I will stick with wd red.
  11. I'm having the same issues as everybody else. I have a AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 and parity checks are terrible like 25mb/sec. Switch the same drives over to the ports on the MB and i'm getting like 140mb/sec.
  12. Norco 4224 is a full on server case. What were you expecting? I can see if you don't have room, you really have no business buying it. I have mine in my basement and never even see it. One of the main reasons I bought it is it allows me to use the cheaper drives in it. I mainly use all 4tb drives in it now. Those 6 & 8TB drives are still too spendy for me. I had a place for it in my old apartment, now I don't. I created a custom cabinet for it, it's in my living room, but would need to remove it every time I need to open the case. Gotcha yeah, maybe try selling it locally and buying a smaller mid tower case and add in some hot swapable bays. Hopefully others will have some ideas. There are lots of case threads in the hardware section that would probably give you some ideas of what to get.

I used to shop there all the time until they started charging AZ sales tax. Now I mainly shop newegg and ebay for computer parts.
  15. I tried it and it says access is denied. user name=nobody password=nobody. Is the share setup as private, secure, or public? I switched the cache security to public and managed to delete all those torrent files. From now on I'll just have deluge delete them. Thanks for your help mr hexen!
  16. I tried it and it says access is denied. user name=nobody password=nobody.
  17. Or delete it from the deluge interface are you uusing a separate account to authenticate with unraid or just using the standard authentication method (nobody account)?, also how are you trying to delete the files, using a windows machine and navigating to the share? I'm not sure what you mean separate account to authenticate. When I try to delete the downloaded torrent files i'm just navigating from a windows machine using the network browser to this directory. \\TOWER\cache\appdata\delugevpn\downloads\complete I try to delete the files I downloaded but it says I need permission from unix user/nobody to make changes to the files. Delete from the deluge interface, or disconnect the share from windows and reconnect using "guest" and not an account Yeah, from now on i'll just have deluge delete the files. Not sure how to log in with guest. I can only see how to login with root and the 2 user shares I created. Trying to do it from a user share doesn't work, even though they have full read/write permissions to the cache drive.

  19. OK, newbie here I installed delugevpn docker and everything is good except I can't delete any of my downloads off the cache drive. \mnt\cache\appdata\delugevpn\downloads\complete I need to be able to delete them because I don't want my cache drive filling up. Any idea what I should do to fix this? Thanks!
  20. hmm, Plex web ui isn't connecting. EDIT, nevermind I just tried it in IE with minimal plugins and it's working fine now. Thanks for your help sparklyballs!!!! Unable to connect Pale Moon can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.97:32400. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Pale Moon is permitted to access the Web.
  21. i see it now.... paths need to always start with a leading / on the container side (the right of the : your paths are just Movies instead of /Movies Yay, that worked!!! Is there an easy way to rename shares?
  22. hmm, if I just add the Movies folder, no spaces in that, it's doing the same thing. Is there an easy way to rename shares? It's not letting me rename them.
  23. I'm trying to download plex media server docker repository and it's throwing this error half way through the download and not letting me finish installing. Please help if you can. Command:root@localhost:# /usr/bin/docker run -d --name="PlexMediaServer" --net="host" --privileged="true" -e TZ="America/Phoenix" -v "/mnt/cache/appdata/plex/":"/config":rw -v "/mnt/user/TV Shows/":"TV Shows":rw -v "/mnt/user/Movies/":"Movies":rw -v "/mnt/user/Video2/":"Video2":rw needo/plex invalid value "/mnt/user/TV Shows/:TV Shows:rw" for flag -v: TV Shows:rw is not an absolute path See '/usr/bin/docker run --help'. 24. Post the syslog in a new posting in this thread, quoting your original trouble report. (It helps not to have to read twenty-hundred posts to try to determine what the issue was.) Will do. Thanks.
