  1. But both a format and a preclear will lose all data on the drive, yes? Alarm bells started ringing when somebody is worried about losing data on a preclear topic (but the more I thought about it, the less I probably know)
  2. Conversely, I've not had any issues running the Plex script at all (touch wood). Presumably if one is always using direct play, the Nvidia card would be redundant, no? Your assumptions are correct - it's an easy install - install plugin, select version, install customised Unraid, reboot. Unraid will look and feel exactly the same. To my knowledge there's no harm installing it without a card, but there's also not much point.
  3. Why didn't I think of that?! Thanks for that binhex. I've got several apps each using their own authentication, and have it disabled on reverse proxy (apart from one web server). Flip it on it's head, and single external login with no internal authentication. Sorted!
  4. Just to chime in - I've had no problems at all with the upgrade either. Didn't have to change any settings (other than configure the columns displayed).
  5. Whilst others will be able to advise on your specific problem, I personally wouldn't consider running dockers without a cache drive. If you've got a SATA port, the price of a 250GB (or 120) is so low now, it's a no-brainer. I haven't run without one, so can't comment directly, but a lot of these issues seem to stem from running dockers from the array.
  6. You could write a user script to restart the docker and give it a daily cron time to run. However, you'd be better off finding out the cause of the problem - other things could be affected.
  7. Hey! Movies appeared again in the regular email. Thanks for sticking with it.
  8. Is this happening on all, or just a few? They should recognise that they're obfuscated and pick them up. Sometimes they don't though (e.g., if they're nested within folders). If the main file is within something like... Title/folder1/folder2/media.mkv ...then move it into Title/media.mkv - after a while it should be picked up. I've sometimes tried renaming it to be Title/Title.mkv. Sometimes I give up and process it manually - it's only renaming, copying over and triggering a library rescan. This is assuming that the file is OK. Just a few thoughts, but if it's always happening, something else is wrong.
  9. Hi - thanks for that. Lost broadband over the weekend so have only just checked. Performance *seemed* to take a hit if several things were writing to the cache and/or mover running. Can't say for definite what it was though. However, the other reason I neglected to mention was that the cache drive was starting to run low on space. Since building, docker/appdata size has crept up to the point where it wasn't difficult to fill the drive (which could take the dockers down). Rather than upgrade the drive, I decided to add a second one and spread the load). Copied the IMG / appdata / VM files over to the unassigned drive, repointed everything and restarted. All seems to be working well.
  10. Is anybody else having issues with the Newsletter functionality? For the last few weeks it's only been sending out TV Show updates, no Movies. Clean install a few months ago. I'll go into the logs over the weekend, but just putting the feelers out there...
  11. Hi - been searching around and I *think* what I'm looking to do is now possible and not stupid. I've got a second SSD coming today, and I'm looking to migrate my docker/vm img and appdata over to it as an unassigned drive. Mainly to separate cache and docker activity so cache writes don't affect docker performance. Is this possible, and is there anything I should look out for? Current plan (docker side)... Install drive, format as XFS and mount as "Apps" Run CA Backup / Restore Stop docker service Copy img to /disks/Apps/Docker Copy appdata to /disks/Apps/appdata Repoint docker img location in docker settings Start docker service, stop all dockers (or set all dockers not to auto-start at the beginning) Repoint each docker to new location and start Once all working, remove old files from cache drive Is there anything else to consider? Any kind of RW/Slave setting somewhere? Or is it just stop, copy files, repoint, start? Disclaimer - appreciate I probably don't need cache any more really - just have shares write directly to array, but that's for another day and (potentially opens the can of worms of spinning up whilst media streaming).
  12. To be fair, I don't think it's delayed. We all run it on the knowledge that updates will be ready when they're ready - they're not easy to do, may encounter problems that need ironing and real life will get in the way. Some have taken much longer. If anything, the release of 6.7.1 seemed quick to me. Could you revert to stock 6.7.2 for now and tweak the systems that use Nvidia to revert back to how they were 4 months ago? Then revert back to the Nvidia version when it's out?
  13. Ahh, OK, I was under the hope/impression from reading here that my drives might be h/w grouped within the system. If the spin up of any one drive forces the system to freeze activity for all other drives then spinup groups aren't going to help me here. Thanks for the advice.
  14. Sorry, I meant from a hardware controller perspective - eg, if disk4 spins up, disk1 will freeze but disk12 will not. Thanks for the cache tip - I will do that, but in addition would like to solve/patch at source if poss.
  15. I've currently got 20 data drives connected to a SuperMicro BPN-SAS2-846EL SAS2 expander backplane, which is connected to 4 SAS ports on my Supermicro X10SL7-F Motherboard. Parity & cache drive connected internally to mobo SATA ports. I don't use spinup groups, but searching for spinup freezing got me here. I've dabbled with running a user script across the evenings to spin up all drives between - say - 7 and 11pm. This prevents freezing, but I'd rather not have all drives on without reason. How do you go about identifying if/how drives are grouped? Is it a case of setting off some activity and spinning up each drive one by one and checking for pausing, or is there a more logical approach? Or am I being stupid and a SAS expander would have them all grouped regardless? It only takes one person to spend most evenings tinkering with files and another starting a few things to decide what to watch, and the main media player can be chopped to bits. I'd certainly use spin-up groups if I could identify if/how the drives grouped. Unless there is a better way now.
  16. It's at the top of the previous page. You need to choose the columns you want in the new version. Hover over a column, click its down arrow and select columns. Then select from a list.
  17. While I can't really help with the heimdall part of your issue, use the CA Appdata Backup / Restore plugin for protecting your flash/SSD from failure. It will back up to a share. If you want more protection than that, you could always back up to a USB drive, or mounted SMB drive. Or into the cloud. This won't protect your img file, but the Community Applications previous apps feature allows you to select all the apps you used to have and reinstall them with one click.
  18. Hi - is this all working for you? I was looking at buying an SSD today and separating Dockers/appdata from the cache. Mainly so things like Plex won't take a performance hit if the cache drive is being hammered. Came to the forums to check whether it's a sensible thing to do and how to go about it.
  19. Set it up as a share in Unraid, and set that share to cache only (or equivalent - I'm not in front of it).
  20. A slightly different alternative would be to use the CA Backup & Restore plugin to backup your app & flash data. That handles stopping and starting of containers automatically. Then, to backup to the cloud, you could point duplicati at your appdata backup - then you've got on- and off-site backups. Just a thought.
  21. Same here after the latest update Nothing odd about my install AFAIK. *Seems* to be working OK otherwise
  22. Go into the plugin and select a stock build from the dropdown on the right. Click on download & install, then reboot when prompted. EDIT: @aptalcabeat me to it
  23. Have you read the Q&A on page 1?
  24. Click on the NZB logo in the top left, I *think* And yes, I've got a mover script running on CRON to stop my cache drive filling and taking out my dockers. I can either combine the restart with that, or run a second one. @binhex - no problems, yes. Gives me something to do this weekend.
  25. I've been on the previous version since the major unpack issue nobbled the latest, and it happens once in a blue moon at the unpack phase. Hasn't happened in a while for me though, and restarting always fixes it. Hadn't thought of scheduling a restart.
