  1. Doing the Parity Check and a drive arrived and doing Preclear. This WD Red Pro 6TB sure is fast.
  2. So I can start a new Parity Check with write corrections and reboot later?
  3. Ok ran the extended SMART test, I think Unraid said the test came back with no errors. Unraid continues to give the popups with the Orange text that there is a warning. unraid-smart-20210605-0649.zip
  4. Ok started an extended SMART test with attribute 1,200. So the extended test will take 389 minutes or 6.4hrs? I have a 6TB Red Pro on order before I knew this, so worst case this 6TB replaces a 5yr plus 3TB. Looking at power on time:
  5. unraid-diagnostics-20210604-1436.zip
  6. One of the Data disk show 30 errors and not climbing.
  7. Maybe myself trying this will help someone else.
  8. Will it show this error message until Parity rebuild is complete? I think the answer is yes.
  9. Thanks, I'll keep it as 3 pool disks User shares, the read speed is fast enough at 45 seconds to read all 3. These 3 pool disks will never be written to again.
  10. Ok got the desired results. Now can do a Parity Rebuild or Check while reading the 3 pools at the same time. The Parity Rebuild is occurring while 3 Pool HDD are being being read at the same time from over the LAN.
  11. Ok in the end I did what you said and it worked. I adjusted three of my shares(each share already took up a whole disk) that are now a pool each And in Shares changed the cache pool to point to and set prefer. And the same type of change to the 2 other shares. Now those three Shares are under User Shares. I will look into Disk Shares.
  12. Request: more explain text on the "New Config" screen, currently doesn't mention existing data will remain. From what I read below, you lose everything.
  13. Ok I looked in FAQ about the new pools feature, am I misreading something because I didn't see anything about the new pools. Will search the "New Config" in the Forums next.
  14. For each individual new pool disk, will the existing data stay intact? Edit: Ok I went to start and this has got me worried, "This is a utility to reset the array disk configuration so that all disks appear as "New" disks, as if it were a fresh new server.". I do not want my disks treated like new, I want to keep my data, just redo Parity, keep my 2 existing cache SSDs the same, and assigned 3 disks taken out of array as individual Pools. I read the documentation, and it is not clear with what I am trying to do. Ok trying to read the Documentation about "New Config", this is what I get a big blank just titles and no info:
  15. New single pools. I have 1 Parity and 6 data disks. I have disk 4(already has a Share4), disk 5(already has a Share5), disk 6(already has a Share6). Keep disk 1, disk 2, disk 3 in the already existing array. I want to take disk 4, disk 5, disk 6 out of the main array to each be a single disk pool with no parity. I want to keep each share from each disk on disk 4, disk 5, disk 6. I have already moved the data onto disk 4,5,6. I am not clear on the steps required. I will watch some @SpaceInvaderOne videos to see if the newer videos discuss this.
  16. Too bad Unraid didn't have a feature that a repository of Motherboard settings could be made into templates that will load on the 1st go to work out of the box. Reading all these it sure seems like a lot of fiddling around to get things working.
  17. If you do Chia/Burst storage do not make it part of the Parity Protected Array. If do and a Parity operation occurs your reading of Chia/Burst HDD will come to a standstill and the Parity Check will take forever.
  18. Dumb design putting button on the rear part of case where you cannot see any buttons as you are reaching blindly
  19. ASUS WS C246 PRO ATX Server Motherboard LGA 1151 Intel C246 (there is AsRock Rack C246 WS 8 sata CPU & 4 sata other chip) Intel Xeon E-2288G (with iGPU can you transcode Plex and use the Video out at the same time?) 64GB ECC DDR4 (16GB x 4) Not sure why ASUS says AMD Crossfire when it is Intel?
  20. I know this is from 2020 but I know it is an SMB network share. How is the actual speed of reading the network share eventhough it technically never leaves the Unraid box if the VM is running on the same Unraid box?
  21. Ok I tried taking out the GPU for now. Moved the 9211-8i to the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. It seems to be stuck in x4 mode per that Docker Disk Speed. Will put it back how I had it for now. Even if it was working in x8 mode in the x16 I don't have room for the GPU in the x4 slot because I would need a PCI riser cable for an old VGA card plugged into a PCI slot. Edit: Looking Unraid log I see this, "16.000 Gb/s available PCIe bandwidth, limited by 5.0 GT/s PCIe x4 link at 0000:00:02.0 (capable of 32.000 Gb/s with 5.0 GT/s PCIe x8 link)"
  22. Kept VM running with 1660Super mining. On VM stopped Burst mining for this test. Top 2 lines are 2 Parity Bottom line is total. Tried with GPU & Burst mining stopped and get about same results but starts at 145MB/s(each HDD) from the PCIe 2.0 x16 operating at x4 slot with 9211-8i HBA card for those 7 drives. I guess I could also try the speed test on individual drives to see if worth swapping the 2 cards. It would be quite a chore to swap the 2 cards, would have to undo all the Nvidia pass thru and then readd because it would up in different slot.
  23. Just realized that the slower read speeds are from a VM on Unraid box running Win10 reading an Unraid share, so it is over the network. So I will have to look for a way for the VM to read/write to the Unraid share directly without network. Can I mount the Unraid share directly from the Win10 VM running on Unraid. /mnt/user/name_of_share Edit: I remember seeing Parity checks reading drives at 135MB/s each and maybe slower as it gets near the end.
  24. Questions about speed when card is in a Physical x16 but operates at x4? Unraid system, now have 2 Parity drives and 5 data drives. I notice it is not as fast as I thought it would be, maybe after adding 2nd Parity. Seem to max out per drive at 40MB/s when writing you will also see it reading at the same time on the same drive, and it is also reading and writing the 2 parity drives. PCIe 2.0 x16 1660Super GPU mining Ethash in VM Win10 PCIe 2.0 x16 but operates at x4 9211-8i card ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M5A97 R2.0 AMD FX-8370 Eight-Core Video boot device is not the 1660Super but a PCI old video card because of Unraid. Is the x4 operation of the 9211-8i the bottle neck? Motherboard? Yes know it is old but works. I might be able to swap the 1660Super to the x4 slot & put the 9211-8i in the 16x slot, would this make any difference.
