  1. Looks like they will have to add python into Nerdpack if they are going to leave it out of bzroot.
  2. DON'T update in the container....... i just bumped the version to 3.11.0.1 in the image and it's building on dockerhub now. Not updating in the container - is that a rule we should go with for ALL Dockers!? E.g. SAB, CTO, SCR etc I can see why it might be. If you update within the container, and the update does something to its data that will not be backward-compatible, and then you need to re-install the docker for some reason, you will be back on the older version that can't use the newer versions data.
  3. I have an rsync script which does monthly external backups of a couple of my shares for offsite storage. Up until now I have been running this script manually from the command line. This morning I decided to test the script capabilities of this plugin and configured it to run my script for me. The webGUI became very unresponsive while the script was running. I didn't actually wait to see if it would eventually respond, instead closing my browser and monitoring progress by tailing the log from the command line. After the script completed in about 30 minutes everything was back to normal. Not sure if this is expected behavior or not, or if anything can be done about it. I can live with it as is now that I know about it.
  4. scroll up and start reading at Reply #21 Thank you for your reply. I've tried to restart it and reinstall it. It did not work. When I tried needos the last time (1-2 weeks ago) it was still on ver 12. Do I need to change EDGE setting? In that case, to what? I also saw: But I do not know how to compile it from source I'm afraid... You don't have to compile it, the docker does that. I have EDGE set to 1286. See here. Note that you have to wait a little while it compiles before you can access its WebUI. You can monitor the progress in the docker log.

  6. Doesn't happen to me with this plugin. All I do is read and write to the configurration file /boot/config/plugins/serverlayout and run shell information commands. I don't see how it can effect the write protection of the flash drive. There isn't any write protection involved. It is file system corruption which causes unRAID to set the device to read-only. No clear evidence this plugin is involved though.

  8. Dockers don't really "download" a config file. The docker container has files, some of which are stored where you specify in your volume mappings. What are your volume mappings?
  9. Sounds to me like your flash drive is read-only. That would also prevent you from getting a clean shutdown since unRAID would be unable to write super.dat to indicate that the array was stopped. If you rebuilt it on another machine then perhaps it goes completely missing after bootup for some reason. Can you access it after bootup? Can you write to it?
  10. There is this in your syslog: May 30 15:50:37 Tower logger: Installing user plugins May 30 15:50:37 Tower logger: plugin: installing: /boot/config/plugins/dynamix.plg May 30 15:50:37 Tower logger: plugin: not installing older version That is not likely to be the problem but it does make me wonder what else you may still have on your flash that shouldn't be there. Nothing about FAT in the syslog though so I guess there is no corruption on the flash.
  11. Please go to Tools - System Log and click the Download button and post.
  12. Still sounds like a corrupt flash to me but I guess it could be an incomplete download again. Post a syslog.
  13. Your first post to this thread said Just to clarify, do you mean you pasted the URL into the Install Plugins page, or did you try to save it to the plugins folder yourself?
  14. Multi-lingual? Of course that is a whole new can of worms with the entire UI. Also, width of other columns would have to give some if a column were added. Horizontal scrolling should be avoided as much as possible to avoid losing track of which disk you are looking at. Yes, but the entire UI already has issues of not being multi-lingual., so this doesn't introduce a new issue. I'd much rather see the disk status clearly than the entire and extensive disk serial identifier or the filesystem. I think MyMain would just display the (last?) 4 characters from the serial required to uniquely identify the disk. These also happen to correspond to the characters on the sticker WD puts on the end of the drive that I can see clearly from my hotswap bays. Not sure how reliably unique these characters are across all drive manufacturers though. I think keeping the filesystem could be useful for supporting others when they post screenshots.

  16. I am not using MyMenu, what ideas do you have in mind? And are there screenshots available of MyMenu to get a better understanding. Sorry, meant to say MyMain, which is included in unMenu. myMain Support and Information Thread and some of the links in that first post. I've not actually re-installed unMenu since I cleaned up my v6 installation a few betas ago so I don't have it either at the moment. It does have a lot of features, but since most users will not have it I have been trying to keep closer to their experience.
  17. I like this for providing support. May be more work than you had in mind for v6 though. Seems like some of these ideas may be rehashing some of the things MyMenu already does. Maybe some more ideas from MyMenu could be incorporated eventually.
  18. I also prefer nothing inside the icons. Size3 would be my preference, but size2 could work if something was done about the square to make it more obviously pointy.
  19. Zero-length files on flash are often a sign of corruption. Put in your PC and let it checkdisk.
  20. The best way to show this is by using real examples. In the attachment are four different shape sizes given for the green (=circle) and red (=square) icons in 16x16 format. The first row is the shape size which is currently in use by the webGUI. The second row shows a slightly enlarged shape, which still fits nicely in the current webGUI layout. The third row makes the shape even bigger, but it is too big for my taste. The fourth row is largest shape size in 16x16 format, for me this is over the top. Perhaps people can indicate what is still distinghuisable in terms of size, shape and color (to me everything is readable) ? If you want to put some symbol inside them then the bigger the better. If no symbol inside then perhaps something could be done with the 3D effect to make the square more distinct. Maybe make it more pyramid-like as with the triangles shown earlier.
  21. And grey as well. That means 5 symbols. What is grey supposed to convey? If you mean spin state then how do you combine that with disk disabled for example? TBH I am not sure what it will portray but I just mean people naturally "just get" a grey icon as meaning something like offline/passive. Its much the same as red, green and amber it is drummed in life long. Blue on the other hand is not intuitive we would need to teach people what that means. Blue is information. A new disk for example. Grey could be OK as offline but if you combine it with a shape that is normally reserved for one of the other colors I think it is just confusing, as in the grey triangle that started all this. I don't have any color vision problems, but my eyes are getting a little old. Someone with both problems could have difficulty with the shapes if they are small and aren't really distinct. I can see how a square could easily be mistaken for a circle for example if the icons are small enough, and some of the examples we have seen are using the circle to mean good and the square to mean bad. And then trying to make all this work with either black or white backgrounds. How much larger can we make the icons without increasing the row spacing?

  23. What about rotating the actual shape? Would rule out a plain circle but a circle with a black line would enable rotation to be seen? Animation would work if it could be done. A circle could use a line like a clock hand or something similar. There would need to be 8 frames to the animation for it to work well with simple shapes.
  24. Red, yellow, blue, green. If we stick with the 16x16 icon size a distinct symbol within the icon isn't as good having a distinct shape for each color. I still don't see how combining spin state into these can be made clear and simple. Perhaps if spin state were a symbol within each icon. Unless the icons are larger though the symbol will be too small. It should be easy to tell at a glance what the state is. Remembering a large number of combinations of colors, shapes, symbols is not good. The mouseover legend should only be a reminder, not something the user has to pull up all the time to figure out what is going on.
  25. And if your still on v5 you still don't need unMenu. There is a plugin for apcupsd and its setup is very similar to the v6 screenshot above. When you said plugin I assumed that is what you were talking about. The addons you install through unMenu are more properly referred to as packages.
