I'm having some permissions problems -- if I copy a file from one directory to another within Krusader it is having ownership changed to root/root instead of nobody/users. I have the PGID and PUID defined in the docker config to be nobody/users.

Running an HP GL380 G7 with dual X5660s and 128gb of RAM. It's long in the tooth but performance wise is quite capable for everything I run. Except..... All of the new homelab stuff that I want to play with is AI related and without a GPU (or even AVX) it's not able to do much. I don't see a way to fit a modern GPU into my case which is a 2u case with (16) 2.5" trays. So.... For whatever reason hardware prices don't seem to have come down. I'm running 12-14 year old hardware but if I look at upgrading to something that's maybe 5 years old I would be paying over $1000 for similar performance (but with the ability to add a GPU.). Seems expensive. Is there another way to add external access to a GPU somehow? If so, Is it good money into bad investing in such an old server?

I basically just did this same thing - I have a laser cutter and a stack of free acrylic and it was still cheaper/easier to buy an atx case from Amazon with a 500w PSU already installed ($35 on Amazon warehouse.) I mounted (8) drives in here. I connected the green/black wires and also soldered some additional sata connectors to make sure I had enough power for drives. I used 2x SF-8088 to SATA cables from my server hba and plugged them directly into the drives without any additional expander or adapter card. Everything showed up in Unraid and I didn't even need to reboot. It was easy as hell.

Recreated the flash card and then for some reason also had to clear my bios/cmos -- but it finally booted. Thanks!

I've had some weird issues with rebooting hanging up over the past year but after upgrading to 6.12.6 it's completely unable to boot. Timer continuously counts down from 5 and then restarts (only the timer, not the machine itself.) Any menu item I choose (except the memtest86) simply loops it back around. Any ideas?

The ip address is static for the remote shares. It's not a device that's online frequently but typically I see that it's not mounted ..... After the update it showed as "not a valid configuration" and I had to remove and re-add.

Edit: same problem.... Maybe? Mine is with two nfs shares that didn't come back up. I also have had an ongoing issue where after the last 3 updates my server has not been rebooting and it requires a power cycle. hippo-diagnostics-20231129-0316.zip

Is there a link anyone can offer on how to generate the self-signed certs? I've never done this before and google is coming up with soooo many different options I'm not sure where to start.

Must be some kind of logging. There are settings for log rotation in the hydra interface (have to click the advanced settings toggle.). You can also launch a terminal into the running container to try and poke around. docker exec -it <container name> /bin/bash

Finally getting back to a limp after what I now must assume was some kind of power-surge or lightning strike. Replaced my server mainboard. Then discovered that my H220 HBA had also failed. I replaced that. As soon as I was able to boot I heard a drive that was clicking and knew right away it was dead. Sure enough cache won't come up because a drive has disappeared (disk information shows it has failed SMART but I don't even have the ability to see it on the main screen.) I left that slot unassigned and brought the array up. I thought a btrfs pool should still come up but received an error that it was unmountable. I do have extra drives in the system that I can try to substitute but don't want to screw anything up. What do I try next?

Mainboard got me booted back up but the p220 hba has gone dark. Could be the card died at the same time as the mainboard or that the "new" mainboard has a bad pci slot. Ordered a new hba card as it was the cheapest way to test.....

Booted up a FreeDOS USB with the sasflsh.exe utility and it found no SAS devices. This tells me I must either have received a bad mainboard or possibly the failing motherboard took out the hba in the process. I don't have another pci device anywhere so I've ordered a new hba to try tomorrow. Should tell me what's up.

Can anyone with an H220 and/or a SAS expander card tell me how they show up in lspci? I replaced my mainboard on my DL380 G7 and my system has come back to life but I'm not getting any drives to show up. I can't remember if the expansion card appears as a PCI card or if I should only be seeing the H220? (I'm not seeing either.) Trying to narrow down if I have a bad PCI card or a bad SAS backplane. Or if this replacement mainboard is defective.

It's a server so this is the same mainboard that it was replacing. There isn't any GUI slot. Have searched the forum (and internet) extensively and not seeing any mods or any other information coming up (except that it's a verry common HBA and works well.)

I've got a DL380 G7 w/ an H220 HBA. Has been working and stable for years until the mainboard failed. I replaced the board and now I don't see the HBA. I've disabled the onboard p410i and confirmed all cables are plugged in and the PCI-E riser is firmly seated (and there's a power light that indicates it's powered up.) I don't see any other options related to storage in the BIOS. Unraid boots fine but it's not showing the HBA in an lspci command or any drives in any of the GUI settings. BIOS is updated (P67) I feel like I'm missing something really simple but just can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Thanks! I appreciate the response. Have reseated everything and ordered a new power backplane as well as mainboard. Luckily parts for these old girls are cheap.

DL380 G7 has basically been up for almost 10 years without issue. It's in a dusty and humid environment but I've never had any trouble (and surprisingly with the cover removed there's no sign of corrosion and very little dust.) I push the power button and fans spin up, lights start to blink and then it just..... turns back off? Amber power light and red system health light (blinking) are the only errors reported. No other warning lights lit. Only green lights on the inside. Have swapped power supplies and it made no difference. Using factory heavy duty cables (possible one bad cable but I am getting green lights on the power supplies and think it would still boot with 1 good p/s..... right? iLO working as expected and no error messages in the logs. Anyone have any other ideas I can try?

Is there a guide somehow on how to modify config.plist? I see you need to use the Opencore Configurator but I can't figure out what that is or how I access it from Unraid?

Will this work with dual Xeon X5660s? I seem to remember they lacked the instructions in the past but now I'm seeing something about emulation? I am able to boot the docker-osx images but would prefer a VM.

I wasn't able to get the macosinabox to ever work (not sure if it's because I have an X5660 machine?) But I did get this dockerized version to work relatively easily. I'm curious, though -- does anyone know how we can build this to its own image or disk? It adds at least 20gb to my docker.img file and doesn't seem to survive blowing that up and starting over once you get the image installed?

Samba support say this is a mis-configuration or problem with how Unraid has compiled the image. I'm not sure who we can tag here?

CA Backup should automatically stop your dockers. I'd be careful backing up your plex cache. It will be really slow and take up tons of space. It can re-generate thumbnails in the background and seems like it does it in real time if users are browsing (if that's even a feature that matters.)
