  1. Hi guys, I have been away for a few months because of moving to another house and getting settled there. I just finished setting up my server, running unraid 6.2.1, and find that I can't access the server from my Windows 10 laptop. Windows just gives a message can not access \\Tower. In network settings I see under eth0 that bonding is active although I never ever enabled it, and I can't change anything there. eth1 isn't connected BTW. The server appears under Network on the laptop. Forgot to mention that I switched motherboard and cpu to X9DRI-F with E5-2670. I attach diagnostics. Can anyone help to fix this. As I said I have been away a couple of months and may need some update on what has changed in 6.2 and later. Or is it best to update to the latest version? tower1-diagnostics-20161217-1322.zip
  2. Thanks Frank. I think I made an error because another NAS on the same network also had a DHCP server enabled. After disabling it everything works fine.
  3. Since updating to 6.2 I loose network connection whenever I reboot server or router. I had a static ip configured on the server but that isn't recognized anymore. I deleted network.cfg and got it working a couple of days ago but this morning I reset my router and again my server doesn't get a ip. I deleted network.cfg and network rules but it still isn't working. ethtool shows there is a link detected on eth0. Please help and advise on how to get this working again.
  4. Thanks! Now I need a shop here in Netherlands . Probably Amazon.
  5. I need to connect a backplane with SFF8087 connectors to an Areca controller which has regular SATA connectors. The backplane is just pass through and there are no expanders involved. Which cable do I need, reverse or forward break out? How can I tell the difference?
  6. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=51308.msg494307#msg494307 I'd like to second this. I upgraded from 6.1.9 to 6.2 stable today only to discover the NFS user share was not available on my media players (Mede8er MED600X3D); only empty subfolders displayed. Downgraded to 6.1.9 and all is back to normal. Not asking this be placed on the highest priority list but would feel comfortable knowing it will be addressed at some point. Thanks! My networked Bluray player relies on a working NFS for 3D ISO playback, so I also would like so see this fixed please. I used this rule upto unraid 6.1.9 *(ro,insecure,anongid=100,anonuid=99,all_squash) and security is set to private.
  7. Do you receive this notification as an email too? The email contains more info, including what it thinks there is wrong with the array. Alternatively go to Tools -> Archived Notifications and expand the corresponding notification. Can you post that information? 8. I updated to 6.2 on my Main server and now I get the following status message: unRAID Status: 21-09-2016 00:20 Notice [TOWER1] - array health report [FAIL] Array has 24 disks (including parity & cache) it repeated last night on 22-09 again at 00:20: unRAID Status: 22-09-2016 00:20 Notice [TOWER1] - array health report [FAIL] Array has 24 disks (including parity & cache) What can be wrong? Should I be worried? Everything else seems to be working as normal. tower1-diagnostics-20160922-1624.zip
  9. After running the modified for 6.2 script and while a parity check is running I get the following status message: unRAID Status: 21-09-2016 00:20 Notice [TOWER1] - array health report [FAIL] Array has 24 disks (including parity & cache) What can be wrong? Should I be worried? Is it related to 6.2, the utt script, the unthrottled valus I used or something entirely different? Everything seems to be working as normal. tower1-diagnostics-20160921-1043.zip
  10. Same script as I used. Also chose unthrottled. My mainserver has plenty of memory and horsepower. See sometime 3 threads at 40-60%, memory never above 9%.
  11. I strongly recommend looking into adjusting your disk tunables, they can make a dramatic difference. It's possible you may be able to get close to v5 speeds again. Oh my goodness... Parity check post squids modified tunables script, set to unlimited/unteathered.... 2 threads around 80% 2 up to 40%. And I can now watch a DVD without fail or a 1080p with only an occasional stutter during the parity check. On track to shave a goodly chunk of time off of the check too! Awesome recommendation RobJ Which script did you use this time? where you you see unlimited/unteathered?
  12. Did you search for tomm? Else contact them and ask if they can resend, Tomm is usually cooperative. Also list the keys GUID.
  13. Upgraded from 6.1.9 without issues so far. Should the installed powerdown plugin be uninstalled? What does Turbo Write do exactly. Does it have a big improvement?
  14. This 38C is one disk spunup only. When all disks are spunup and accessed like during a parity check they reach 50C, never 60 though.
  15. I don't have a dedicated server room or even air conditioning at home. So during summer temperature is rising above 25 C or or even 30 C here in the Netherlands. This greatly influences disk temperatures when spun up and when running a parity check. Room temperature is close to 30 c at the moment and disk temps when spun up reach 38 C easily. Do you guys see the same happening? What can I do to keep temps down. Will it hurt disks?
  16. It is a great controller and so is the Dell Perc H310. Which cable did you buy?
  17. Plex Media Server is an available plugin for Unraid. It allows for streaming media to remote locations via the internet. Plex client apps are available for just about every platform I can think of. I share my video and music libraries with my grandma in AZ and brother in Colorado who both have Roku 2 devices. When I travel with my family, we bring our Amazon Fire TV to hotel rooms and stream media from our Unraid server at home via the Plex app. I've also shared my libraries with a few other friends who consume the media via Plex using a variety of platforms such as Windows, Android, iOS, XBOX, Fire Stick, etc. In order to stream to multiple devices simultaneously you need a processor that's up to snuff for the transcoding that PMS does to match the remote client hardware specs. Gotta love Amazon!! All my parts were delivered next day for free today. Amazing that they are able to deliver this early in the morning on a national holiday. It's nice to live so close to one of their distribution hubs. I guess I know what I'll be doing after the kids go to bed tonight. I've read a bit about moving Unraid 6 to a new motherboard and it sounds much easier than I thought it would be. Does anyone have any words of encouragement before I dive in tonight? Nice stuff! It has been ages that I bought anything new. I moved to other hardware and switched cases, motherboards, cpus, controllers and disks offcourse several times. It's not difficult if all hardware is supported by unraid. When booting from USB the first time take some time to run memtest for some time, possibly overnight. And most of all have fun building!
  18. What exactly is Plex media? I play 1080p mkv and mp4 and bluray m2ts to 2 Dune mediaplayers without Plex. So I don't need a powerfull CPU for that. I ran sabnzb on a pentium class CPU earlier on. If you want to run truly headless, you might want a motherboard with IPMI.
  19. you could run a SMART short self-test from dashboard, might tell you more and check if any errors are logged.
  20. It probably conflicts with other interfaces on the motherboard, did you try to disable them in the BIOS?
