Unraid Valheim Dedicated Server Guide

Recommended Posts

I'm having the same issue as "Tibbe". When copying DB from from windows, it won't load (is ignored while a DB of the same name is created in the folder).

Testing:

Started a new game in Valheim Docker.  Made in-game changes. Closed game. Stopped Valheim Docker.

Copied DB from Unraid into Windows.

Loaded Copied DB in windows. Confirmed in-game changes remained. Made additional in-game changes. Closed game.

Copied DB from Windows back into Unraid. Started Valheim Docker. Started game & connected to server.

I am loaded into a new world. Closed game. Stopped Valheim Docker.

In the DB folder, there now exists two DB files with the same name (one larger than the other).

Please use the official support thread for this.

It is not possible that there are two files in the folder with the exact same name, maybe the name is spelled differently or it has a space in it or something like this.

@luckyy has written a good guide about the basics from Valheim over on the support thread:

Please use the support thread for the container (click on the Valheim icon on the Docker page and on Support), but from what I see you do nothing wrong. ;)

What is wrong with this message? Nothing to worry about.

Do you need a static IP? I would recommend to use bridge mode but that won't prevent the connection to the container.

Please don't set this to ture because this will always force a validiation from the game files and the start takes much longer than usual.

The log looks perfectly fine and the server is waiting for connections.

How did you try to connect or whats the issue?

Have you made sure that the password is at least 6 characters?

I have the server set up but when I try to join it, I get "Incompatible version" Logs state server is up to date. I'm trying to connect on my steam deck and from my windows laptop, both give the error.

You have enabled Valheim Plus from what I see from the log, make also sure that you've install Valheim Plus on your Client too (local Computer).

I've been trying to get Valheim Plus added to my steam deck, but I can't find any instructions on the web.

There you go: Click

BTW Nice that you got a Deck, wish also I could order one, but I'm still on the waiting list... :/

EDIT: Next time please post on the support thread from the container, I've only stumbled over this post by accident...

Those Linux steps don't work. I tried a similar method with another mod.

EDIT: Ok, it does work if I just run the "start_game_bepinex.sh" file in file explorer, but not when I add it in the launch options.

Then I would recommend that you open up a Issue on GitHub in the above linked post that those instructions doesn‘t work on the Deck.

I can only tell you that those instructions work for me on Debian fine.
