trurl
Don't really know what the issue is or whether reinstall would help, but it can't make anything worse Quote Link to comment

levster
I will, a little later today, unplug the server from the network and reboot it. That should eliminate anything triggering the ftp, correct? Would a flash problem trigger the ftp? Quote Link to comment
trurl
It isn't clear that anything is using ftp. The entries in your log about that have the IP of localhost, so I assume they are just being generated by the FTP server starting up. Quote Link to comment

Is there a way to disable the ftp server in such a way that it is no longer - self enabled? Quote Link to comment

I can set it to disabled, work back and worth within the server, and it stays turned off. However, it reverts to enabled upon restart. Quote Link to comment
Squid
Yeah, that's a quirk. It is disabled if there are no users defined Quote Link to comment

I am having trouble with those as well. Quote Link to comment
Squid
Should have nothing to do with them at all I would think Quote Link to comment
trurl
Many of your symptoms are suggestive of flash drive problems. Quote Link to comment
