July 9, 201214 yr What is the proper way of uninstalling the Plex Media Server from unRAID? Is it just a matter of deleting the PLG file so that when the server reboots, it's not reinstalled? I want to completely uninstall it so I can install a new version from scratch, as I continue to have problems getting the server working properly. It seems to stop responding after a period of time has passed (i.e., my clients cannot connect to it at all.)
July 9, 201214 yr After 12 hours of google and post reading, I am still stumped. I had the older Stokkes plugin, but since that didn't support DNLA, I upgraded to Spidi. Had difficulties and overcame some. Now I am stuck and am looking for help. I have PMS installed and can access it via my unraid gui. When I try to add my media, Plex doesn't find any files, even though I know they are there. I'd post a log, but not sure where I find it. Linux newbie, but fairly MS savvy. Anyone lend a hand? Thanks in advance.
July 9, 201214 yr I found the Plex logs. However, they haven't been updated for a month (when I first used Stokkes plug in). Could I still have two version of PMS installed? How would I find out?

This is probably a file permission issue. If you go and use the new permissions utility, Plex should start finding your media. What's going on is that your files are under root file ownership right now, and Plex can't access them.
July 9, 201214 yr I'm using SPIDI's method of installing Plex on my unraid machine (also tried nearly all the other plugins available) and every version I have ever tried will result in PLEX crashing each day with no crashes in the log. Does anyone have PLEX working continually on unraid 5.0-rc5 ( I have tried Beta 12 - 14 and 5.0-rc3, all have the same result of crashing everyday) I have also tried two different physical Unraid servers all with different drives. I've tried with simple features and with the standard GUI. I have a 3 Iphones an Ipad all with plex app, a Media Link LG TV, a ST6000 LG Smart TV upgrader ( or what ever its called) and the Plex client on my Mac book. My Plex apps ( Iphone) can still my server but on browsing it will display empty folders with no content The Media Link - will fail to find a server TV Input ( DNLA ) - will find server but displays empty folders. ST6000 LG Smart TV - nothing Plex Client - Does not find any media The Library is mnt/cache/data/plex/library The Temp mnt/cache/data/plex/tmp "Data" is setup as a Cache only share which is an SSD ( the other build was a standard drive ) i7 - 12gb ram ( soon as I start to play anything Memory goes to maybe 400mb "USED" 11gb "CACHED" Zero "FREE") Everytime it crashes I come home to a house with the kids DVD's and Bluray's spread across the floor with sticky finger marks all over them! Does anyone have an suggestion? Does anyone have plex running stable? Cheers Will
July 9, 201214 yr I've been running PMS 9.6.4 (when I was on 5.0-RC4) and now 9.6.5 (only been using over the weekend though on 5.0-RC5) with minimal issue. I haven't used 5.0-RC3 since I just got into this a few weeks back. I'm using an iPhone 4, iPad 3, and ATV2 just fine. There's about 120Gb of music in ALAC and about 60Gb of video (testing before I move everything over). I wish I had a suggestion for you Will outside of trying 9.6.5 to resolve your issue. Good luck!

July 10, 201214 yr I wish I had a suggestion for you Will outside of trying 9.6.5 to resolve your issue. Good luck! I've upgraded to 9.6.5 last night and still had a crash early hours this morning which requires the service to be restarted. So no fix in that version.

Run the new permissions tool in your unRAID web interface's Utilities section, and make sure you're mapping your shares on your computer using a username/password you created in the Users section. When you map your share, make sure you enable "Connect using different credentials" and enter Tower\(username) for the user. That way, when you copy over new files, you're not copying them over with root ownership.
July 12, 201213 yr I am trying to add a another media folder to my Movies and am not having any luck. After I enter the path I am clicking on Update Selection but nothing happens. Solved: deleted the framework and system.bundle and all is well now.

July 15, 201213 yr All, im assuming if Plex stops working after a day or two, it is because i don't have enough memory? I only have 2GB on my server and it uses up all of it...

Thoughts? Delete system.bundle/ and framework.bundle/ as describes 4-5 posts above. They are recreated when you run Plex and it fixes the problem.

July 20, 201213 yr Thanks! I think I need more ram. 2gb seems not enough with Plex running. I will increase to 4gb and hope that helps.
