Multi vdev pools can only be expanded manually for now.Sorry, misread your post. During a RAIDZ expansion, ZFS rewrites the data to use all devices, but note that it keeps the old data-to-parity ratio, only newly written data will use the new ratio.

If I add a drive to an existing RaidZ2 for example, does Unraid start almost like a resilvering process so the data is across all drives in that RaidZ2 Vdev?

So if I'm understanding correctly, does that mean there will be no "parity" information of the existing data on the new drive? Only whatever new data is added from when the additional drive is added?

October 30, 2025Oct 30 i think there's a visual bug in the desktop docker page. the "basic view toggle button" on the top menu is taking up a whole row leaving a big empty gap. i don't remember having this gap in the previous version

Should it be deleted?AFAIK there were only 3 cases (2 of them were during the betas) of this causing issues for users who used the Connect plugin in the past, but had since removed it, so it's not a common problem, but if you no longer have the Connect plugin installed, you can delete it.

It all looks the same after a while as I just see it as all being part of the unraid core team.
October 30, 2025Oct 30 After updating to 7.2, I tried to expand a cache zpool. It was originally made up of 3 x 2TB nvmes. I stopped the array, added a slot to the pool (the count is now 4), selected another 2TB nvme (unformatted), then tried to start the array. I get the error "Wrong Pool State, PoolName-invalid expansion". Edited October 30, 2025Oct 30 by ambricks
