Having some problems getting this running.

 

I have previously been using the UnMenu version of MySQL and was keen to swap over to a plugin instead, so don't know if that is causing the issue. Every time I try and start MySQL from the plugin I get the following errors on UnRaid (looking at it on screen as I can't find a log for this anywhere).

 

ln: creating symbolic link '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock': File exitis

sh: /etc/rc.d/rc.mysql: No should file or directory

 

Any ideas what the issue might be? Thanks

if you are not try:

- backup your databases

- remove auto install on unmenu

- restart unraid

- install plugin

- restore your databases

I don't know if any one uses this for there finances but I am having a hell of a time setting this up.

First the package is no longer available I hade to update the plg to one use the FTP not the HTTP for the repo and 28 is no longer there 30 is. had to update the md5 as well.

After installing I changed the root password as stated and finally I added some accounts.

now I installed GNUcash on a Win7 pc and tried there linking.

host I tried the IP address of the server and the name of the tower.

for database gnucash

for username I tried all the users including root.

the correct password for that user.

but I keep getting

The server at URL mysql://[email protected]/gnucash experienced an error or encountered bad or corrupt data.

I even tried the port 2206

any help would be great.

 

 

I think you are using the plugin in the first post but that is outdated.either use my plugin(you can find it a few post before) or use the updated mysql plugin.that is also a few posts before my plugin.

Got it to work I needed that utility to change the passwords because there is global local and per connection. First time using SQL. It also slowed me to rename the test database gnucash and now works like a charm. Thank you for the plug in.

since main work is not mine i dont want to adopt and i want to keep things together in here but you are right that will definetly be better for the users until new wiki or official plugin manager.

Followed all the steps shown on page 14 but can not start mysql, every time I push the Start button is will just refesh the Gui and will show status as stopped.

Couple things I noticed the Gui is indicating that the configuration location is /etc/my.conf but this file is actually located in /etc/mysql/my.conf is this Ok or does the file need to be moved to /etc?

I did install the version that can be downloaded from page 14 is this the latest version available?

Towerr.err does not show any errors there is only one warning about not being able to resolve an IP address 192.168.0.45 - this being the computer where the Tower Gui is running.

Using unRAID version 5.

For mysql not started, I had the same issue. A restart of the array solved the issue.

1) try pushing apply instead of start

2) try starting from command line with "/etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld start" and see if any error is shown.

is there anything in the .err file (in your install directory)?

try deleting /etc/my.cnf file and push apply again from webgui?

did you try to restart unraid?

another possible cause can be permissions, check permissions of installdir, /var/run/mysql and etc/my.cnf.

i start a new topic for my plugin. It will be better continue at there with my plugins users.

which plugin are you using? mine or the original one?

I'm using your plugin.

After it failed initially I installed control panel and then downloaded and installed your plugin using control panel.

Did you update to 0.2.2? If yes, would you try to uninstall my plugin and try to use the original one at page 14.to see if the problem persists or not. And maybe you can try changing the install dir to another dir on different location ram, cache, array etc .

These two plugins (MySQL 5.5 Plugin by p1lot and MySQL Plugin with Backup 0.2.2 by ikosa) are not working as expected.

 

I cannot get ikosa's to work - so I am done with that.

 

p1lot's plugin I can get installed and working but I am able to keep the system from changing the mod on the my.cnf.  It will not stay at 644.  It reverts back to world-writable.  I am not able to get the my.cnf file to stay in chmod 644.

 

Has anyone figured out how to copy the my.cnf file from /boot/config/plugins/mysql folder and change permission to 644 prior to the mysql daemon starting?

 

I am about ready to give up and put MySQL on Ubuntu or Windows VM for use with XBMC.

I don't have an answer for you, but I can say I am using ikosa's version with XBMC without issue. I removed pilot's and started from scratch.
