Hi guys.

Have been having some trouble with Dropbox plugin recently and hoping someone might be able to help.

My problem is with UPLOADING from my server.

It only uploads the folder to dropbox, but the files inside that folder seem to get skipped/ignored.

I can successfully create a folder on the Dropbox website, place a file in it, and they will download.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling for weeks in the hope that it will one day sort itself out - but without luck.

I fear I'm not completely removing everything.

I normally:

- Rename config/plugins/dropbox.plg to dropbox.plg.uninstall (so it doesn't install it at reboot)

- Delete config/plugins/dropbox folder

- Delete /mnt/cache/DropboxDB folder

I have heard about symlinks, but haven't managed to work out what they are or how they work.

At some point, I managed to navigate to /usr/local/dropbox (and found another Dropbox folder in there)

But, I know nothing about Linux, which also doesn't help and am just stumbling in the dark.

There are also SO many links to the plugins that I'm not sure if I have grabbed the correct ones.

I think the latest couple that I tried were from:

If you want a version of the dropbox plugin for unraid v5 go to post #232 of this thread:

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=23287.msg362397#msg362397

and

I'm running unRAID 5.0.6

And my Dropbox settings say:

Application 3.4.6

CLI Script v2015.02.12

Plugin v2015.03.25

Dropbox db directory is pointing to /mnt/cache/DropboxDB

Data directory is pointing to /mnt/disk2/Ryan/Documents/Dropbox

I managed to insert these paths into one of the dropbox files (I think it was a config file) so it was 'hard coded' - as someone said that helped with symlink issues.

Now, I'm stuck, and very frustrated.

Please let me know what else I need to provide.

Grateful for your assistance.

Can anyone help with this please?

Boot up errors and syslog provided earlier if you wouldn't mind having a look.

I'm paying for dropbox and can't use it (other than the web interface).

Thanks

Is there any way to set this configuration using the openssh plugin? This is what I'm doing in my "go" script currently:

# Need mosh to be able to set the locale when connecting over ssh
echo ""                          >> /etc/ssh/sshd_config
echo "# Added for mosh support"  >> /etc/ssh/sshd_config
echo "AcceptEnv LANG LC_*"       >> /etc/ssh/sshd_config
/etc/rc.d/rc.sshd restart

I think there is some kind of issue with enabling/disabling NZBGet on v5 where it deletes your custom config and replaces it with the stock one.

@overbyrn

any hope to update plugin Denyhost for support unraid 6.0 final and 6.1rc ??

Hello,

Upgraded to 6.1 rc-2. Prior to upgrading I had to stop then start the plugin in order to be able to login successfully. Now when I click stop under plugin settings the plugin does not appear to stop. Any fixes?

Thanks for your work!

Regarding the SSH Plugin, I have it almost working perfect. The last remaining hurtle is the reboot. Upon rebooting the plugin starts but fails to create the home directory and refuses password-less ssh logins. I have to stop and start the SSH service. Restarting does not work only a full stop and restart.

I read that other have had this type of issue but was not aware it was at every reboot. Has anyone resolved the problem? Or have I done something wrong?

I would like to say that the default SSH setup is totally wrong with root only authentication that has been deemed a security risk by nearly all Linux distros.  UnRAID should implement the SSH plugin as the default standard (once it works flawlessly). I saw 100s of logs on my server indicating people trying to log in as root. Scary.  I changed the default port and login as a different account with root disabled. This plugin is a requirement. Thanks for the hard work overbyrn.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

New unRAID user with question about setting up Dropbox.

unRAID version is 6.01.  I've installed the plugin from

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/overbyrn/unraid-v6-plugins/master/dropbox.plg

and now have a Dropbox control under Settings.

Dropbox plugin: 2015.06.07

Dropbox Application Version: v2.10.28

Dropbox CLI Script Version: v2015.02.12

After enabling and starting the service, it now shows a link under Status:

Waiting to be linked to a Dropbox account...  [Click to open link in new page]

If I click that and log in directly via the form that comes up, it returns an error box that says "There was a problem completing the request."  If I click the Sign In control in the corner and sign in that way, it says "Your computer was successfully linked to your Dropbox account" for a moment before returning to the previous login page.

That's as far as I've gotten.  As many times as I've tried this, the Status display doesn't change on unRAID and the Dropbox account doesn't show an additional device connected.

What's my next step to get the Dropbox plugin operational?  Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind, I'm running the Docker version now which works fine.

Thx Overbyrn for you effort programming all this plugins!!! I will try the SSH if my security-linux knowledge let me set it up. I have limited time due to family obligations.

Rgds.

I changed the default port and login as a different account with root disabled. This plugin is a requirement.

Hi korack, I would really appreciate if you could let me know how you did set up Overbyrn´s SSH Plugin (since I have basic linux knowledge; well I am running several vm´s on Unraid using KVM, but SSH is a headache for me). I know there is a lot of info on the web, but that is exactly what makes me crazy. If you could let me know how it works based on this plugin it would be great!

I don´t want to hijack overbyrn´s post, so please send me a PM.

Rgds.

overbyrns,

Your SSH Plugin is way better that the default SSH implementation in regards to both security and ease of use. However, I have a couple issues. I am very new to unRAID and slackware but not Linux.

The two issues I have are:

[*]The service does not seem to start upon reboot. I have to stop and then start SSH via the plugin

[*]Sometimes (most of the time) port 22 is still in use by the default unRAID SSH daemon so I have to use a different port

Am I the only one who experiences this issue? It seemed at least a few others noticed that ssh was not working at boot.

I believe I have identified why I have issues with the ssh plugin. I'm not a PHP programmer and the plugin is largely PHP based so I'm not sure how to make sense of much of it. I noticed that in /etc/rc.d there are two ssh services /etc/rc.d/rc.ssh and /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd. The first is your service and the second is default unRAID service.  I am certain the plugin is not properly stopping the default unRAID SSH because port 22 is not available.

I'm wondering if adding /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd stop to my /boot/config/go file will solve all my issue... but I'm afraid I may prevent ssh from working entirely because both run "killall sshd" as part of the stop. I'm also confused as to why the default ssh daemon is sometimes running especially after a stop. It should kill all sshd processes.

Based on my reading on slackware, you normally disable a service by simply making it not executable (chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd) however I'm not sure how to do that with unRAID since we can't permanently make /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd non-executable. It would be reset on reboot.

I also don't understand the unRAID boot order. In particular I'm unsure of the relation between default services starting, the the plugins loading, custom packages getting installed and then the new services starting.

Hello,

Upgraded to 6.1 rc-2. Prior to upgrading I had to stop then start the plugin in order to be able to login successfully. Now when I click stop under plugin settings the plugin does not appear to stop. Any fixes?

Thanks for your work!

Most/many plugins are not going to work under 6.1 until they are updated as LimeTech have made the way php passes commands to the command line jailed.

I updated to 6.1 rc-5 and stopped using the ssh plugin. It was good but I had issues with the start and stop of the ssh daemon.

Alternatively, I updated /boot/config/ssh/sshd_config, wrote two bash scripts, run one of the scripts via /boot/config/go and the other as a cronjob. I'm not a master programmer so it's probably the coolest code out there. But maybe this will help someone else. Perhaps some of the ideas could be worked into the ssh plugin (like a full home directory with some custom dot files).

In quick summary:

I updated /boot/config/ssh/sshd_config to:

[*]Disable root access

[*]Only use .ssh/authorized_keys

[*]Deny empty passwords

[*]Optionally change the port

Personally I use port 22 internally but use port forwarding on the router via a different port from the internet to 22 (something like 4657/tcp to 192.168.1.2:22/tcp)

Port                    22
PermitRootLogin         no
AuthorizedKeysFile      .ssh/authorized_keys
PasswordAuthentication  yes #set to "no" once the testing is complete and you can get in via RSA keys
PermitEmptyPasswords    no

Now I only have one instance of sshd.

Next I use a script called "create_ssh_homes" like this

#!/bin/bash
for USER in user1 user2 user3
do
    if [ ! -d /home/$USER ]; then
         mkdir /home/$USER
    fi

#Rsync folder contains some custom configs like:
    # .bash_aliases .bash_profile .bashrc .perltidyrc .vimrc
    rsync -vap /boot/config/custom/$USER/ /home/$USER/

#Grant user ownership of their own home directory
    chown -R $USER:users /home/$USER

#Create SSH folder in users home directory
    mkdir /home/$USER/.ssh
    chmod 744 /home/$USER

#Permissions necessary for password-less SSH (RSA keys)
#Set .ssh to 744 if home different
    #chmod 744 /home/$USER/.ssh
    chmod 600 /home/$USER/.ssh/authorized_keys
    chmod 600 /home/$USER/.ssh/id_rsa
    chmod 644 /home/$USER/.ssh/id_rsa.pub

#Just because I link to write/use bash and Perl scripts
    if [ -f /mnt/user/Users/$USER/Other/Scripts/UNIX ]; then
         ln -s /mnt/user/Users/$USER/Other/Scripts/UNIX /home/$USER/bin
    fi
    find /home/$USER/bin -type f -exec chmod +x {} \;
done

# I also use a script / cronjob to Update the USB hourly
# This allows my users to create some custom files in their home directories
# and even save their working .bash_history
for USER in user1 user2 user3
do
     rsync -a --delete /home/$USER/ /boot/config/custom/$USER/
done

I added these entries to /boot/config/go

/boot/config/custom/scripts/create_ssh_homes
cp /boot/config/custom/scripts/sync_ssh_homes /etc/cron.hourly/
chmod +x /etc/cron.hourly/sync_ssh_homes

I also added a cronjob named "sync_ssh_homes" to sync the live version of the home directory (/home/user) with the version on the boot USB (/boot/config/custom/$USER). This allows my users to create additional custom / persistent files in their home directories and even save their working .bash_history.

#!/bin/bash
for USER in user1 user2 user3
do
     rsync -a --delete /home/$USER/ /boot/config/custom/$USER/
done

I'm trying to get dropbox working.  It installed ok and the web gui says "Waiting to be linked to a dropbox account.."

I click the link and it opens a new page where I enter my info.  When I click "Sign in" it responds with there was a problem completing your request.

Anyone run into this? (on V5)

Thanks,

Jim

I'm having the same issue with Dropbox on v5 :-(

Have dropbox stopped allowing the linux client?

(I've just raised this with Dropbox, I will report back)

I think they changed the linking process.  I contacted support and they basically said they were too busy to help me!  WTF?  It wasn't a..  it will take a couple days..  it was a sorry, not going to help you.

Jim

The (laughable if it was even slightly helpful) response I got after 7 days...

Same problem here : "There was a problem completing this request" when linking dropbox to UNRAID on V5.

Grrrr, this is nuts. I can't set up a windoze machine to host the Dropbox executable because that won't allow me to use a Networked location to store  >:(

Google seems to produce one result - a link to this thread!

any chance that SSH and Denyhosts will be updated to run with 6.1.3.? the start/stop buttons are not working and i cant disable direct root login with ssh. also i cant be sure that denyhosts is doing the work 100%

overbyrn are you there? still out of the plugin business? :(

Don't understand what your trying to do here.

Well, I'm trying to get a folder on my unRaid server to sync to DropBox. Like others here, I tried the plugin, but got the connect failure error, so I thought, as a workaround, I could run Dropbox on a Windoze machine on my network and put the UnRaid location in as the "local" directory. Nope, won't have it ????

I'm having the same issue with the Dropbox link presenting an error, "There was a problem completing this request." Getting Dropbox running here is extremely essential to me. Has anyone been able to figure this out?

Jim

This is what I was able to gather...  The plugin will have to be modified, my guess....
