I am also having an issue with Plex finding the Server5add24c7ec422_ScreenShot2018-04-22at6_10_22PM.thumb.png.d36288c302860036050406439c333b7a.png

I was having issues with Plex, and decided to reinstall.  I deleted the Plex docker and deleted the plex folder in the appdata folder.  Reinstalled the plex docker and that is when the issue started.  I've tried the other plex dockers with the same issue.  I've also tried deleting and recreating the docker img file, but I still get the same issue.

Here is my plex log:

Never mind, working now.

biiiink not sure what your network type is set to but mine was 'Host' so i changed to 'Bridge' that didn't work so i changed back to 'Host' and my server was then found. Not sure what was going on but might be worth a try.

I managed to get mine starting, now in the same boat as biiiink though, can't find server and being told to download plex media server.

Help is much appreciated.

Oh and just an FYI, my original issue was from pointing to an invalid location for my Trans_code file. Needed to set it to /config/transcode not mnt/cache/appdata/...

You should post about this problem over in the link you shared.

How do you transcode to ram without it filling rootfs?

I followed binhex instructions (Probably borked it up somewhere) and its transcoding to /tmp in the rootfs, so every morning unraid is dead with rootfs at 100% till I reboot. Not sure how I messed up the configuration

I tried your solution, but it did not work for me, and my transcode location is already set to /config/transcode

I moved and reassigned a few disks in the array putting 1 empty disk into parity (went with 2nd parity) and my plex docker will no longer load up I'm not fully setup yet so I just removed the docker and used clean appdata to remove it but new installs won't load up so is there some file hanging around that I need to remove or some other setting that remains that is causing this issue any help greatly appreciated!

your movement of disks and the additional parity drive assignment will not affect plex, so you have something else going on, can you send me a screenshot of your settings screen for the plex container (unraid web ui/docker tab or icon/left click plex and go to edit).

Yeah tried that and all other configs the bummer is that I don't use it much so it went through a OS upgrade, a new config in tools and a new permissions and who knows what else prior to knowing that it doesn't work

ok ive just goone through a clean setup of plex to remind myself what steps are required, and its pretty basic to be honest, so this is how it should go:-

1. stop any existing plex containers and delete both image and container

2. delete all files and folders for plex, as defined via the host path for the /config volume mapping (obviously do NOT delete your media).

3. pull down this image (as in binhex-plex).

4. configure the docker container (please post a screenshot of how you have it configured showing all options, make sure to turn on advanced view)

and then start the container

5. left click on the plex icon and select web ui

6. walk through the wizard, you can skip adding media if you like to ensure its up and running first (you can add media later).

7. refresh the page if it doesn't take you to the end of the process, this should then show you the plex main screen with options to add media, configure settings etc.

have a go with the above, it really should be straight forward and def is not broken.

The following solution worked for me, but reading through this post, it might be a hit and miss situation.

I changed WebUI under advanced settings to https://app.plex.tv/desktop. That fixed the problem for me.

image.thumb.png.d6f02763085eb7cea3ba9daefe417a55.png

FYI - binhex, I tried your solution above and it worked temporally which was very odd, then I was back to square one.

PS Thanks for all the hard work you're putting in to these Dockers. I don't want you to think the effort has gone unnoticed.

ok, so im assuming there must be some firewalling going on here, check your router allows unfiltered outbound connections, if you have a pfsense box then check this as its highly likely its blocking the connection to plex and thus unable to register your new server.

I have a router provided from my ISP, in DMZ, and behind it is my own router running DD-WRT.

I have had the router running DD-WRT for years, but I have recently changed ISPs.  I did also have the previous ISPs router in DMZ mode as well

For the record, I did try temporarily turning off the firewall in DD-WRT, but that did not work

Any idea what might be happening?

UPDATE:  My router running DD-WRT died on me this morning.  I temporarily plugged everything in to my ISP's router, and checked to see if plex could find the server and it did.

I went out and bought an Asus RT-AC86U.  Configured it, and its now back to the same issue.

The log is identical regardless of the router setup being used

The Docker is up to date and running

there is no VPN or Proxies running on the router or Unraid

I've also tried temporarily disabling the firewall on the new router with no success.

So I'm sure it is a setting on the Asus router, but I have no clue what it could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

UPDATE:  My router running DD-WRT died on me this morning.  I temporarily plugged everything in to my ISP's router, and checked to see if plex could find the server and it did.
I went out and bought an Asus RT-AC86U.  Configured it, and its now back to the same issue.

The log is identical regardless of the router setup being used

I have re-run through this support page again: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204604227-why-can-t-the-plex-app-find-or-connect-to-my-plex-media-server/

The Docker is up to date and running
there is no VPN or Proxies running on the router or Unraid

I've also tried temporarily disabling the firewall on the new router with no success.

So I'm sure it is a setting on the Asus router, but I have no clue what it could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

One thought, does your new router have IP spoofing protection? this might be triggered by the fact docker uses its own network range, try turning off any lan firewalling.

I've looked through all the settings in the router.  I dont see anything referring to IP spoofing.  I've also already tried turning off the firewall completely and it does not fix the issue

sorry dude im out of ideas then, if it worked when you plug directly into your isp's router than it must be related to a setting somewhere on your own router, not much i can do about connectivity issues im afraid :-(.

So I tried installing PMS of my Mac Mini and it works behind my own router.  So now I assume it doesn't have something to do with my router.  Maybe something in my unraid setup?

Hi,

How do I update the server version. My client is saying server version 1.3.0.0 or higher required.

When I load the page on my PC, it says that the new version (1.13.4.5251) is available - how do I update this? I have tried restarting the docker.

assuming you are a unraid user its dead easy, you simply go to the unraid web ui, docker tab, click on 'check for updates' button at the bottom of the screen, if there are any updates pending then you will then see an additional button appear to install the updates, or if you want to automate this then install the excellent CA auto update plugin.

Any idea why it would work on my Mac Mini behind my router, but not on Unraid?

I'm having an issue with certain files not being read by Plex. It's a TV show and only one episode per season is showing up even though they are all named the same way. I'm assuming it's some sort of permissions issue. I can play back all the episodes fine on another PC using SMB. I downloaded the shows using the binhex DelugeVpn docker image from CA. The only other service I'm running is a Ubuntu VM. I've never had a problem like this and as far I know nothing changed to cause it. I've also tried the limetech plex docker container but that was having the same issue. Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to fix it? Thanks
