John_M
Install the Unassigned Devices plugin. https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=45807.0 Quote Link to comment
sonata31380
Once the plugin installed how do I do? For example I want to copy the directory "dir1" of usb disk to share "video" of the server unRAID ? Quote Link to comment
BobPhoenix
Midnight Commander is what I use from unRAID console. Quote Link to comment

I would expect a windows transfer without using any plugins in unRAID since you are going from a Windows box with the usb disk connected to the unRAID box across the network. Something I also do quite frequently. Quote Link to comment
John_M
The OP didn't mention a Windows box. He asked how to mount an NTFS formatted USB drive. I suggested the UD plugin, not Squid. To my mind the question had no relevance to unRAID otherwise. Quote Link to comment
Squid
My post stands. Quoted the response about MC and offered up other alternatives to avoid dropping into a command line. The response about MC came after the suggestion to install UD, and my suggestions all require UD to be installed Quote Link to comment
sonata31380
First thank you for your help I'll clarify my question: I connect a USB ntfs disk on a USB port of the server unRAID On the other hand I have my shares on unRAID server, among other "video" What tool used to copy a directory "dir1" from the USB ntfs disk to the "video" share ? You can do it locally on the unRAID server using something like the 'mc' (Midnight Command) tool from a console/ssh session at the Linux command line level. There are also dockers that can be installed to provide a graphical method of file management locally to the unRAID server but I do not think most people bother with this extra complexity. Alternatively you can do it over the network using your normal desktop file manager on your PC/Mac as the Unassigned Devices plugin will expose the drive as a new share. However in this case you could just as easily have plugged the drive directly into the PC/Mac and copied it so not sure which you will find more convenient. Quote Link to comment
sonata31380
Until now I used the copy over the network, but I find that performance is not terrible Quote Link to comment

trurl
Just google Midnight Commander. It isn't any more difficult to use than those dockers, and doesn't require any setup. Quote Link to comment
sonata31380
I find that MC is not easy to use for someone who's not used I would try using Dolphin Someone can help me ? Quote Link to comment
Squid
To volume mappings add /mnt mapped to /mnt. Once in dolphin navigate to root then mnt and do what you need to do Quote Link to comment
sonata31380
Thank you for using Dolphin Dolphin shows well my usb drive ntfs, but it does not display any directories and files Quote Link to comment
trurl
Dockers cannot see anything mounted after the docker service starts. Go to Settings - Docker and stop then restart docker. Just another one of those things that made me suggest Midnight Commander in the first place. Quote Link to comment

iwryou
I just wanted to plug in an external drive through the USB and after reading this I realized that I needed to install a plugin and was able to do so. Quote Link to comment
