ControlR (Android/iOS app for unRAID)

Featured Replies

What i need is a Sleep-Button and that this App is working from outside my Network - like Teamviewer.

Do i need to install a plugin on my unRAID-Server?

Is there a "Test-Version" available?

I would suggest the openvpn-as docker to be able to use ControlR outside your local network.

Why?  It's a more secure way.  I remember talking to jbodriguez about the remote access issue when he first developed the plugin and that was what we both thought.

Because it costs money - i need this some times when i am outside but not so often to spend money on a VPN-Service.

If this App cant reach the server from outside the network, then its useless for me.

No it doesn't, it's free for up to two users I think.

Free license for 2 concurrent users so if access was very random you could probably have quite a few more.

And which Vendor has this free Accounts?

OpenVPN-Access Server is a server so there is no need for paying for a commercial server. Once the docker is configured you would download authorization certificates to whatever client machines you want to use to connect back to your local network. I guess you could say you are the vendor.

So that mean: I install OpenVPN as Docker on unRAID and as App on my Android phone and thats it?

How will this pass my Router? Portforwarding maby?

Or shall OpenVPN run directly on the router?

Port forwarding probably, although I understand it can be run directly on some routers.

@gridrunner has made a very good video.

You can also checkout the OpenVPN-AS support thread.

Ok sounds good - thanks for the hint ^_^

Just installed and all, but dockers and VMs work. For those I get "No dockers are installed or they are currently unavailable". Would you have any hint where to look?

Hi, olympia,

What unRAID version are you running ? I've seen it work even in the 6.4.x RCs, just wondering.

Do the dockers show up fine in the unRAID's webGUI ?

I'm on 6.4 and force to use https for unraid. And I can't longer connect with this app.

HI peter_sm,

6.4.x is still on the release candidate phase, and although I have a development version of the app supporting https, I've held on releasing it because there may still be some changes.

In any case, I will try to publish a version with "preliminary" support by the end of next week.

But, the error you posted is related to the ControlR plugin. That should be working :o

Would you mind posting the output of

$ cd /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/controlr
$ killall controlr
$ ./controlr

on the plugin support thread ?

v2.8.1 is now available !

2.8.1

Initial support for 6.4.x's https. It's still subject to pending changes in unRAID.

Additionally:
- Updated screen navigation component
- General improvements and other bug fixes

This should enable you to connect to an unRAID server via https, provided the server is configured to do so.

Also install the latest ControlR plugin for full compatibility.

Let me know of any issues.

v2.8.2 is available as an over-the-air (OTA) release !

2.8.2

- Restore log functionality

This fixes a minor bug that was preventing logs to be shown.

Update resolved the issue for me.

i have been playing with this for a couple weeks now and just can not get it to link to either of my servers. i have upped the timeout function to 25000ms.

i have created other users to see if that is the issue.

any advice?

Hi, a couple of things to check

- Make sure you're connecting to the unRAID webGUI's port (most likely 80)

- Make sure you can access the webGUI from a browser on your device

- Make sure you don't have an adblocker/firewall rule/etc preventing access to the webGUI from your device

If none of the above applies, let me know to further troubleshoot.

i have the port set to the same number on both the app on the settings for the plugin.

i can access the webGUI for the server itself and for the ControlR plugin with no issues (from both my desktop and my phone)

thank you
