[Support] Djoss - MakeMKV

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this and MakeMKV has been excellent, allowing me to convert all my DVD Movies (already ripped) to Mkv for Plex.

I also have several hundred DVDs remaing in my DVD Changer that I need to rip and convert. I'm using a portable DVD/BD Player. If I connect it to my Server how do I get MakeMkv to recognize it?

  • Note that there is currently an issue with the automatic disc ripper for people using the beta key (MakeMKV version is expired). A Docker image update will be available soon to address this.

  • Same thing as an internal drive.  In my case, the device is /dev/sr0, so I just add --device /dev/sr0 in extra parameters.

  • So maybe one solution is to add support for simultaneous disc ripping within the same container

Once the drive is plugged, just start/restart the container and look at its log: it will show which Linux devices need to be exposed to the container.

Thanks!

How do i expose the device to the container?

Here is my log

I ran the ISSCSI -g command but didn't get the last 2 columns showing the devices to expose. Am I approaching this correctly?

Figured it out...mapped to both sr0 and sg11. sg11 was the actual drive designation. I found that by running lsscsi -g in the unraid terminal and not the docker console.

Thanks again

The container's log also shows the information, but you are better to use "docker logs MakeMKV", because the one shown from the web UI is truncated.

I've been up and running for some time...

I ripped about 30+ BDs without issue but when I started ripping some older DVDs, the discs will not load.

I pulled the Drive from Unraid and connect to my laptop runnig Xreveal and it ripped to .ISO just fine.

Is there a setting that might correct this?

Thanks to all who viewed this.

I happened to check the device designations and noticed that the sg0 had changed to sg12. I entered the correct values, ripped a few DVDs then I got this error in the WebGUI.

How do I stop and restart the docker without getting an Execution Error? After this the docker starts but then gives a connection error when I launch the WebGUI.

Please advise

Thanks

@Djoss The CTRL keys do no longer work in your containers MakeMKV und MKVToolNix since the latest v25.12.2 releases. Going back to jlesage/makemkv:v25.12.1 fixes that for both containers.

The CTRL keys work in the copy/paste text field but not in the applications itself.

Thanks for listening.

So I've been trying to get the docker to work for 2 days now, I have reinstalled it several times, but once I add the devices to the container with automatic ripping, the Web GUI fails to load, and I get a server execution error when I try to stop or restart the container. I am a little new at unraid, but it has randomly started to work once or twice, then fail about 24 hours later. I can post diagnostic and other necessary things, but I have been searching forever for answers and I just can't get it to work.

it sounds like you have screwed up in the setup

I think you should post some pictures of your Docker setup config

It probably makes it easier for some people to help you.

I saw an update [7.2.4] for unraid, updated and now makemkv will just do a scanning loop. The disc will just scan and i can not stop it and i can see it puts one of my threads of my cpu to 100%.

This is a standalone unraid sever, if i downgrade my os it will start to work again and with the update having security updates and my version is 7.1.4.

i have seen fixes for this of VM's but with i have not found this problem with standalone os unraid.

I can confirm that the MakeMKV container is working fine for me in UnRaid 7.2.4.

I just tried to update to 7.2.4 and after the update, fixed optical drive access then the makemkv still not working as shown above.

Was having the same issue with makemkv being stuck on scanning drive, went and downloaded version "v24.06.1" of the docker image and the app started working.

I just Updated to unraid 7.3.0 and did a fresh install of makemkv and i can not get it to stop scanning as show above. i have uploaded screen shots show everything i could think of.
