Cannot get server on network with R8111G

Featured Replies

I cannot get my new server on the network with the below PCIE card. Using the internal nic works fine however i would like to use this nic for ALB across the 4 ports. I assume its a driver issue and i see the r8169 driver is loaded however i am not sure thats even the right driver???

Tried to compile the proper drivers.... sadly i am unable to do so. I guess its time to  return the nic and  do the ol' hope unraid supports my next device that is supported by linux without issue.

The NIC is detected and a driver load for all 4 ports, so the driver is there, if the configuration is correct, i.e. make sure you select the right one as eth0, it might need a more specific driver.

Realtek has a long story of miss and hit with unRAID, Intel is a much safer choice.

Yea i got burned once before with RTL and unraid I should have known better.

Is the Intel PRO/1000 VT supported by the e1000e driver? I don't think it used to be but maybe it has been incorporated.

Intel PRO/1000 VT is the Intel 82575GB chipset under the hood. The Linux* e1000e driver supports PCI Express Gigabit Network Connections except the 82575, 82576, 82580, and I350.  Therefore i assume this card will use the e1000 driver. The e1000.x.x.x.tar.gz supports all PCI and PCI-X Intel® Gigabit Network Adapters/Connections.

Bottomline: I will know monday if the card works in unraid.

All Intel 1gbps/10gbps NICs should work fine with unRAID.
