Since you rebooted I can't tell from syslog what happened.

Diagnostics only include syslog since last boot.

Syslog Server is setup

If it was setup then it will have saved syslog from before boot. You should attach that to your NEXT post so we can maybe see why the disks were disabled.

You're using SASLP controllers, these have several known issues, including controller crashing and dropping disks without a reason, can't say for sure without the syslog but likely what happened here, since both disabled disks are on the same controller, though it could also be a for example a cable issue, in any case and if possible I suggest replacing them with LSI HBAs.

I was on a 2 weeks trip, this happened before I left. I think I made a diagnostics before I left, I am adding it here (2x diagnostics in a zip file). And I made a photo of the screen as I tried to power down the raid at that time.

For the syslog, will I have to power down the unraid, and remove the usb stick to find the syslog before boot ?

Did someone help you build the server originally?

I don't think a non-techy can build a 30-disk 108-TB array that works for years without ever experiencing issues.

Given you have a rather massive server, I would recommend you get help so you don't end up making avoidable newbie mistakes.

Btw, you have 2 parity with 2 failed drives so it's possible to rebuild.

The problem is, as what johnnie said, your controller might be the cause which can exacerbate your current situation.

For example, more drives may drop offline while you are rebuilding, and that's not good.

I bought the server, and added discs (which is quite simple). A friend helped me setup Lime unraid. And its been working fine since. Had an issue in december 2019 where I lost my Plex library, here is a link to that support tread:

But besides this its been working fine. Could it be a loose connection on the controller ? Or how can I be sure it is the controller ? It seems quite costly to exchance these as I guess it would need 4 new controllers (if they should all be exchanged) ?

Ok, thanks. Maybe you have some tip of where to obtain these controllers at a reasonable price ? Is it just a simple swop ? Or would there be a need for software update, drivers etc ?

Also, swopping cables, is that not the same as moving the drive to a new bay or dock (not sure what its called) ? The server can hold 36 drives.

They can usually be found on ebay for a reasonable price, look for one that specifies IT mode, e.g. this one is considered a reputable seller, and in that case it's plug'n play.

If your server has swappable bays, then yes, but it would be best to swap to bays that don't use the same mini SAS cable, one cable connects to 4 bays.

Thank you for the link, those prices did not hurt the wallet as much. Would any of the suggested models do? Or is higher number better controllers ie 9400-8i ? Its about 60 dollars each for some of these, but 9400-8i looks to be around 200 dollars.

9201-8i, 9211-8i, 9207-8i, 9300-8i, 9400-8i
