Since the logs filled up and rotated with those message from the Unassigned Device can't tell much else about that. Do you have a current backup of flash? Quote Link to comment
comet424
hi I was working on my server getting help to fix my server.. but I decided to check my sisters unraid and it was working fine a week maybe 2 weeks ago last I checked but then all of a sudden its gone up like crazy.. the list is a lot longer then this Mar 25 04:40:01 MitchFlix rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="8.1908.0" x-pid="1514" x-info="https://www.rsyslog.com"] rsyslogd was HUPed Mar 25 04:41:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Mar 25 04:41:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: Failed to read vcn 0x0: Input/output error Mar 25 04:41:01 MitchFlix kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdf1, logical block 257524, async page read Mar 25 04:42:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Mar 25 04:42:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: Failed to read vcn 0x0: Input/output error Mar 25 04:42:01 MitchFlix kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdf1, logical block 257524, async page read Mar 25 04:43:01 MitchFlix kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdf1, logical block 257524, async page read Mar 25 04:43:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Mar 25 04:43:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: Failed to read vcn 0x0: Input/output error Mar 25 04:44:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Mar 25 04:44:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: Failed to read vcn 0x0: Input/output error Mar 25 04:44:01 MitchFlix kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sdf1, logical block 257524, async page read Mar 25 04:45:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Mar 25 04:45:01 MitchFlix ntfs-3g[28045]: Failed to read vcn 0x0: Input/output error mitchflix-diagnostics-20200402-0937.zip Quote Link to comment

comet424
since im not at her house im remote accessing to her server through openvpn can your run chkdsk on unraid for ntfs? I just know through windows so I cant just unplug it and run it as she lives 2 hours away by car ride so I remote maintance her stuff.. Edited April 2, 2020 by comet424 Quote Link to comment
comet424
I googled chkdsk unraid I guess there is no chkdsk for ntfs in unraid unless I can setup a VM I guessing to run windows but I don't think I can on her mini server hmm Quote Link to comment

Why are you using NTFS on UD if there is no windows computer available to you? Quote Link to comment
comet424
its a portable hard drive so when I back up her old computer through my windows machine and fill the drive.. due to the speed of internet a drive 1 hour meet half way is faster then uploading a month or more to transfer 2TB of data at a 5mbps/down 400kbs/upload connection so uploading both ends is soo darn slow.. if it even stays connected.. as I was cleaning up old hard drives.. as windows Desktop does not offer xfs or Btrfs that you can simply plug a hard drive in.. plus I back up my important photos home videos to the hd and meet half way so its easier that way when you plug it in and out . so every 2 weeks to a month I visit half way to see my sister and she gives back hard drive and I back up her files here.. so we both have in the end both servers have back ups of our files important documents etc.. and her unraid cant do vms 😞 Quote Link to comment

comet424
that's what I said I do I drive 1 hour to meet her half way since she lives littler over 2 hour drive so she drives and hour and I drive an hour.. and meet half way to transfer files... as I don't drive 2 hours 1 way every week or so to back up her files etc. so I guess no check disk for unassigned drives then... guess ill have to run the drive when I bring it home was hoping she had vms and or unraid supported a check disk for unasigned drives but guess not.. least I know all those errors in the sys log are just the hard drive then.... I appreciate It you narrowing it down for me time for a new hard drive lol Quote Link to comment
