Yeah try an uninstall and a reinstall.  It sounds like you have something really funky going on, but I am really not sure why its not pulling any connections from plex for you.  If you Plex server local or remote?

Plex server is local, no changes to it really. but the reinstall didnt work.

Damn I was hoping that was the smoking gun… I’m not really sure why the plex api isn’t returning any servers for you.

I've noticed for this plugin to work plex docker has to be in host mode, if it's in bridge mode or a custom docker network, it doesn't display any servers.

Interesting.  My plex server doesn’t run on unsaid, but I can look into this and see if there is something I can do.

At least, that's what I suspect is the issue. Because the moment I swapped from host mode to bridge mode, it no longer seems to be able to find my plex server.

The settings page where you select your server just stays blank(searching) even with the plex token filled in.

Interesting.  That list is populated by a call to plex’s API.  So it means plex cannot get the details.  I’ll add a note for this.

Cause like if it's in host mode, the local IP is the host IP and subnet but when it's bridged it's now on the bridge IP and subnet so maybe the API call is calling to something "out of range" so to speak?

im just guessing here. Im not sure how your plugin handles the API call.

The API call I speak of is directly to Plex, not to your local plex server.

Can you share the output of https://[unraid_server_url]/plugins/plexstreams/ajax.php?dbg=1  you'll want to remove any sensitive info

Hey sorry, forgot all about this!

So I uninstalled and reinstalled and that didn't fix it.

Then I turned ON SSL connection and that seems to have worked.

This was the output of what you asked BEFORE selecting SSL.

I had a single user watching an episode of The Office, but it was showing three times.

Turning on SSL made it show just once.

Hello all.

Looks like I'm facing the same as many on the forums and wonder if anyone fixed no servers listed?

I'm new to Unraid and have 7.1.2.

Thank you :)

I‘lol have to look into this.

I maybe having a similar issue; I am using PLEX Server in a Win11 VM. I have manually selected an IP address in Windows to 192.168.1.10 and my main router as the gateway, in the VM using the bridge "br".

Unfortunately PlexStreams plugin does not see this server; but the rest of the network does (e.g. running firefox in an UNRAID docker, and on another PC on the network). Dynamix ActiveStreams plugin does seem to work.

In PlexStreams I have tried selecting and deselecting SSL.

I have typed in 192.168.1.10:32400 and all I see is the spinning searching for server.

If there's a way to get it working; that would be good :) I have used the plugin in the past, its so handy to have.

I've got an idea for a feature request!

I would like to, using this plugin, have the ability to find the number of streams using the command line.

My use case is that there are maintenance tasks like AppData backups (https://github.com/rcodehub/unraid-plex-script) and DB repair (https://github.com/ChuckPa/DBRepair) that result in Plex downtime. I don't mind delaying for a few hours or even days, if it means that I don't boot a user off in the middle of a stream. I'm in the US, but I have a couple of friends who watch from the UK, where a 3-4AM maintenance window is 8-9AM for them.

I'd like the ability to check a value stored in a file and know how many streams are active, and if that number is zero, proceed with the backup or DB repair. Is it possible to write the number of streams to a value?

I've done everything to get this plugin to work.

Added ports to forward

Changed network types(multiple times) which creates a whole situation when you have users trying to get served Plex media.

Created firewall rules

Rebooted

Uninstalled/Reinstalled

Used SSL

Added custom IP

Nothing works. I give this plugin a rating of 0 because not only does the plugin not work as it should. But there is nearly zero support for it. The support you do get is like talking to a robot with general responses. You would think the "author" of the plugin would know. But nah! I will not recommend this plugin to anyone.

The only thing I'm happy about with this plugin is the fact it hasn't ruined my Unraid. Very easy to uninstall. The plugin itself hasn't been updated since November 27 2023 despite many users asking for it to be updated. Which says a lot. So there is that! Honestly think this plugin should be removed from Community Applications. Since it hasn't been updated in nearly 2 years and the support is like going through a McDonald's drive thru...

I would say I am pretty responsive as life permits. Unfortunately the issues that some are having lately is related to the fact that PLEX not my plugin doesn’t have an IP address recorded on their side. The plugin uses the plex API both on your local plex server as well as on plex’s side, and unfortunately the first request I make is to PLEX to get the list of IP addresses and they are giving a valid response but it contains no IP addresses. The only thing I can suggest that has worked for others that have encountered this is to actually expose your plex docker to get an IP from your local network and not the docker network.

This is pretty harsh. Many of the enhancements available for Unraid come from users who develop and support these with no compensation for their time or effort. If you wish for a better plugin, you are free to develop it yourself, and then either share it or keep it to use on only your system. Your choice.

I've used this plugin for several years without issue. Plex is set up with the most basic, standard configuration: linuxserver container, Host Network Type, and only the standard 32400 port forwarded from WAN on my firewall. Pop in the Plex token and select the local server address (mine displays both the local and remote server addresses as choices). It just works.

It may be harsh. But none the less true. If you don't like the truth then maybe you should go to a different forum.

If it "just works" then no one would be having issues with it. Yet, here we are!

It does just work for MANY. Have you tried my suggestion yet? I definitely want to assist in getting this issue resolved for many, but as I stated it is the results coming back from Plex that are the problem. Also feel free to open a pull request here https://github.com/dorgan/Unraid-plexstreams if you think there is a code issue. When I have some time this weekend I will see if I can update the plugin to be able to operate without getting the IP's from Plex, maybe a local only mode. But if you could also try my suggestion I believe it will help you work around your issue.

I am a single developer working on this, i do it in my VERY little spare time which has gotten less and less are my children have gotten older, but I personally still use the plugin and like to add fixes and enhancements when I can.

Got it to work as advertised by changing the interface that serves the server. Totally. I originally had unraid on a 10GB Network. The only thing that worked for me is changing unraid back to the original 10Gb network to get this plugin to work as advertised. Telling me, this plugin uses cache at some point. Somewhere in it's process. Not very efficient. But works.

Still have the problem of showing two per stream on the plex streams tab. I'll figure that out on my own also.
