  1. Yup, they seem to have either signed deals with spectacularly incompetent suppliers or they have decided to just flat out not sell some of their products in the EU. Most annoying.
  2. So neat and tidy! I might have to post pics of mine later, it looks like a bird made a nest inside the case
  3. look nice but the prices are crazy. $549 for the case linked...
  4. I suspect I also had some weird spindown issues, unfortunately I rebooted before investigating. Was also running cache_dirs.
  5. Other than the fact they stopped after a reboot... no
  6. Hmm, the drive I posted about yesterday went up 2500 LLC's in 24 hours..... just rebooted the box so no logs unfortunatly. Have killed all of my addons for now to see if they stop it rising. (cache_dirs, unraid_notify, SABNZBD)
  7. link is broken for me so can't see the motherboard. 2gb ram is fine and 450w PSU should also be fine unless you are planning to have lots of disks in the future.
  8. Just checked my WD10EACS and they all have around 30k LLC in 10000 hours :- 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 086 086 000 Old_age Always - 10346 12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 119 193 Load_Cycle_Count 0x0032 192 192 000 Old_age Always - 26918
  9. do you mean all-internal? All external I'd choose something smaller.... All internal.. I chose the Lian Li 343-B 10 drive system you can't go far wrong with the CM-590 or Antec 1200 infact there are any number of 9x5.25" cases out there.
  10. You need breakout cables. Mini-SAS to 4 SATA :- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816103194 something similar to that. Most seem to be quite expensive on newegg, I got mine for ~$15 each (UK).
  11. I'm using High Point Int-MS-1M4S cables. Be warned however... they are 1m long so maybe not so good in smaller cases.
  12. I have an N900 and I'm very happy with it. Battery life is terrible however.... Not sure how long the battery lasts in the iphone but my N900 needs charging every day, sometimes it doesn't even make 'til bedtime.
  13. Let me know how you get on if you can please. Email from Scan :-
  14. should fit yes. I'm not sure an ikea coffee table will exactly be able to support a 4U server in any meaningful way however.
  15. Just to confirm I have the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 running in the PCI-E slot of this motherboard fine. (GA-MA74GM-S2H)
  16. Seems I bought a AOC-SASLP-MV8 just at the right time Stuck it in my server replacing my Si3114 card, and added a new Parity disk. Parity is now building at 70mb/s (5 drives on the motherboard, 5 drives on the Supermicro card). Quite an improvement over the 25mb/s I was getting while parity checked against drives on the Si3114. EDIT : Speed is probably bottlenecked by my WD Green drives. (?) EDIT2 : This slightly odd sounding message in my syslog :- Mar 4 01:32:46 dave kernel: scst: ***WARNING***: Patch io_context was not applied on your kernel. SCST will be working with not the best performance.
  17. I think LLC is the heads being parked. There's a different counter for spinning down, maybe Start_Stop_Count?
  18. This is a real killer. Its as if the board is made of unobtanium which is illegal in most EU countrys cause literally a hand full of places stock it and none in the UK. Everything supermicro seems to be the equivalent of rocking horse shit here in the UK. The suppliers listed on the Supermicro website all seem to be systems integrators or wholesale only. I'm going to email scan later to see if they plan to stock it.
  19. Sounds good. Look forward to testing this card when you add support.

  21. As anticipated, unraid 4.5.1 recognises the card, also recognises any SAS drives attached to it (but you can't add them to the array).
