  1. After about 9 years of using Unraid, I experienced my first set of seemingly bizarre issues. It seemed to occur overnight: 3 docker images disappeared, 2 other docker images quit functioning, 1 docker image showed as orphaned, 1 data drive reports no file system, and random CPU spikes hitting 100%. Plex and Jackett dockers disappeared. Deluge quit working (I could get into the UI for it, but all downloads reported errors). Tautulli quit working (It showed as running the but UI wouldn't load). Radarr docker showed up as orphaned. One data disk now shows as having no file system. I dug into the logs as best as I could, but I really didn't see anything obvious. After shutting everything down and rebooting, I have restored/re-installed the dockers as appropriate, kicked off a long smart report on the drive and it seems like everything is working again. No other drives report errors or are missing or anything like that. The dockers/apps that I re-installed all picked up with data intact as if nothing had happened, and the CPU spikes seem to have stopped. I will be testing drive 12 (the drive missing the file system) more to see if anything else turns up - but the smart report is clear for it. I'm at a loss to explain what happened, so if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.
  2. There are a couple of reviews for it on Amazon... in German.

  4. It's the only GPU according the info you have listed. I believe Unraid requires its own video card in addition to the one you want to pass through.
  5. Hi! I have this running on my server now, but I'm not sure how to actually do what I'm after. In your wiki documentation, you mention your plugin stack: Is that available somewhere? It is very close to what I'm trying to do.
  6. Based on what you have + what you want to add = 24 drives <--- that's a 4U server chassis (or close to it). DAS is possible but seems rather hack-y. You need an external case with its own power and then you need to run a cable from your existing server to the external case (usually using a controller card that supports an expander card of some sort). Frankly, seems like a lot of headache. Why add drives and not upgrade size of existing drives?
  7. You can probably find that answer on a synology forum. You can search the forums or checkout youtube videos for more on what all unRaid can do.
  8. I've seen 1 offered used on Facebook market place and it was gone before I could inquire about it. I'm under the impression there may be a couple of new models offered like that but they are not available in the US generally (I think I found one offered in Australia?). Unless I stumble across one randomly, I've pretty much given up on the idea of the particular solution. I have considered looking at a duplicator tower and seeing what could be done with one of those.
  9. If you can find it, the Antec 1900 (in my sig) has quite a bit of room. It's the case I use and I have 20 drives in it. I think I could configure it for more if I really wanted to get creative. It is very quiet (imo), has filters, but is not hot-swap.
  10. unRaid is a NAS first. Option 2 is technically viable, but I wouldn't go down that path. Option 3 is quite reasonable. Option 4 is also reasonable. I use a Roku Premier+ because it was easier than my RPi to use as a plex client, connected to my TV.
  11. The i3 will be better at transcoding. FYI, from VC1 to anything not VC1 is resource intensive and is not, strictly speaking, transcoding. It is decoding and re-encoding.
  12. @testdasi provided some good information. I work with a data-center that is all 2.5" enterprise drives - but they are solving a different problem (speed and density - with a majority around the 1TB mark - are their primary concerns). The drives they use are also not cheap. I considered and eventually decided against using all 2.5" drives for my unraid setup. I needed raw capacity more than I needed the smaller footprint. Cost was also a big consideration for me. Knowing that I would require at least 2x more drives for the same space didn't add up for me. So while I can buy an inexpensive 2TB 2.5" drive, I would have to buy 2 of them to equal the inexpensive 4TB 3.5" drive. I couldn't find a scenario where 2 drives was ever cheaper than a single drive of equivalent space.
  13. 1. I've been running a single 2.5in drive as my cache drive for about a year. No issues. That doesn't necessarily translate as having great longevity. 2. No. Nothing. 3. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=QLC+SSD+reviews&t=ffnt&atb=v173-2&ia=web 4. For 10 drives a 450w would probably suffice, but that's not the real question. What else requires power? 5. yes.
  14. I ended up going with a Ryzen 5 2600. The fact that a new "old" CPU is expensive can be misleading. It's not necessarily because they are worth it, but often because they are hard to find. If you are hardware locked, then that old CPU is worth quite a bit. For comparison - your I7-3930K vs. I5-8600 vs. Ryzen 5-2600. Your old CPU holds up well in performance, but at twice the cost to operate. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i7-3930K-vs-Intel-i5-8600-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-2600/902vs3251vs3243 Besides, you don't have to throw it away. You can sell it. I sold my i5-2400 and i7-2600 when I pulled them out of their respective machines.
  15. Before I updated to a new CPU, I was on the same architecture. Your choices for a main board are outrageous prices for 1 of a few limited options that are available new - or scavenge something from another system. I sourced options from ebay, facebook market place, nextdoor, and craigslist. In the end, I opted to buy a new mainboard, CPU and memory. It was less hassle IMO.
  16. Does anyone in that community have experience running Synapse in a Docker? How do they deal with the settings you need in a Docker? If not, does anyone in that community have experience running it in a VM?
  17. There is a reason I can buy a license for a tool as an individual developer for $100, but the "enterprise" license is $4000. The difference in obligation on the part of the toolmaker is huge. Having been involved in developing an "enterprise" product, I don't blame LT for not specifically targeting that segment.
  18. I preclear before shucking. I preclear again after shucking.
  19. I don't have a problem with the pricing. Given what I get out of the software, I'd buy my license again. It's worth it.
  20. *** IANANA/E (i am not a network architect/engineer) *** Have you planned out your network? Literally drawn up a map for it? I'm not good enough at network architecture to do anything beyond basic configuration without drawing up a diagram/map/<something> to make sure I'm not missing something. How do you plan on connecting VLAN 80 to pfSense?
  21. Trying to clarify for my own understanding... You pay for a virtual private server, and have configured that server (installed appropriate software/services) to serve as your VPN provider. Is this correct? Where are you getting a virtual private server for $2.50 a month? Seriously, I can't find anything remotely close to that price.
  22. Given my limited knowledge of dockers.... For Unraid specifically... I didn't create anything specific for my dockers when it comes to IP addresses. All my dockers inherit my server's IP address. My dockers are accessed via PORT number. Did you change the default settings under settings > docker settings? (I think it's under settings for the docker engine)?
  23. Why are you giving your dockers their own IP addresses? I've watched almost all of his videos and I don't recall giving any of my dockers their own IP address.
  24. I don't have this problem. Have you checked out any of @SpaceInvaderOne's videos? It sounds like you didn't set up your dockers using (what I assume is) the common setup. Pay special attention to the configuration section in this one for Sonarr for instance.
  25. I'm in Houston. Been using Unraid for about 7 years (I think). I'll be happy to chime in.
