I have had a Plex server up and running for many years now and have seen the video quality from different homes that I share my library with, and can say that I do not see any or much difference between 1080 and 4k. I have my server set to direct stream and then will transcode if need be. My library is pretty large and no one has complained about quality or speed, and why should they since I allow them on my library. The last thing I would touch on is that I do not use plex for my personal use if I am at home. On my local network I use Kodi which I feel does a better job of gathering info for titles and tv shows. If I really need to watch something out of my network I can cast from phone to a TV but that would be extreme use for me. Everyone has their own ideas on how to use their media and I am satisfied with my choices. Good luck on your adventure.

I upgraded from 6.9.1 to 6.9.2 on both my servers with no problems. In fact I thought the upgrade went faster than normal. Not complaining one bit. You guys are awesome thank you for continue support of Unraid.

The reason I have finally decided to upgrade, is from the stupid covid-19 has got all my nieces, nephews, sisters and other friends now using my plex server almost all the time. This leaves me once work is done with interruptions when I want to watch something. My i5 just can not handle it all. I can watch my cores hitting 100% until the stream buffer is done. With this upgrade I should have a lot more head room.

Thanks Hoopster. I brought the other quotes from Good Deals thread over here to try and keep that thread somewhat on topic. The reason I would get the bigger Noctua cooler is for the reason my server is in the attic. My temps during a parity check have never gone over 42c for my drives and with a larger cooler for cpu I would hope to not add any more heat inside. I live in TX and things do get HOT here but my attic is very well insulated keeping the outside temps from invading the attic space. Even though I have recorded temps in the mid-high 90's F up there.

Now that I have this board and cpu and wonder how many 1080 transcode streams can it handle. With my server in sig, I can do two transcode streams. I don't have a plex pass so the igpu is useless unless I go to jellyfin docker instead of plex. Also with 17 drives, 15 data and 2 parity, will my 750 psu be enough. I don;t have any VM's as of yet and only 6 dockers running.

So I am assuming that the larger the cooler the better off I would be. I may order the Noctua NH-D15 and hope it fits. Have my server in attic and will not break it down until combo arrives. After thinking about what you have posted I am wondering if my silverstone 750 gold will be enough power with all my drives and new cpu.

Out of ideas except you could try using unbalanced plug in and manual move or at least see where the folders are residing.

Try splitting your top 2 levels instead of 3 and it should move the file to 6.

Your minimum free space is 4GB while disk 3 has only 16.2 available. With a 16gb mkv to move, you will need to set free space a lot smaller.

This is really tempting. I just do not know how much I would gain by upgrading my one large server. I basically use just as for media storage but do run a plex server with no more than 2 ppl on it at any one time. No VM's but have had the idea to tinker with them. Will continue to monitor that ebay site.

This would make perfect sense. I have made some sound absorption panels that are 2x4 ft with custom photo's I had printed. In order to get my photo's to look really good printed to this size I need to increase the dpi to a huge number of 600 dpi, which in turn created a whooper of a file size of close to 1 gig. But my printed panels look excellent. Getting to the point that banners may need different dpi according to resolutions of monitors. Not that we need a huge file size for a banner. But with a higher dpi the stretch would decrease the look of distortion of the image.

Let me try something else. What size is your monitor?
