I updated mine and everyone I share with lost the shares. Not a big deal but my phone was blowing up wit texts at midnight from friends asking if Plex was down. I fixed it today just by adding the shares back. That was the only issue I had.

yup, I had the same thing happen when I installed Emby, took a couple hours to figure that out.

Well I'm thinking of switching to Emby but want to try it out for a few days/weeks. I installed it and it seems to be working fine but I noticed it downloaded a bunch of NFO and JPG files in my TV and Movie directories, what are these for and why can't it read the metadata from my files like Plex does? Any idea? OR did I do something wrong?

Yes it was a permissions issue for me. I figured it out last night around midnight. Sorry I didn't post that. I ran the new permissions script on the cache drive and it fixed it for me.

Can I run Emby and Plex together or will it mess up my media?

OK, I've played around with Kodi a little now but I haven't installed this plugin yet. So if I have 2 instances of kodi running, one on my mac mini and one on a raspberry pi if I installed the plugin all my media would be updated on both machines right? What if I add some add ons? If I add an addon to the mac mini would it automatically show up on the Pi?

another question, I know there are addons that let you watch live tv and sports guessing not really legal though. Could you configure a Kodi to connect through a VPN so your ISP doesn't know what your streaming?

thanks, don't think I need openelec, I will install kodi on unraid and my mac mini and play with it. So has anyone installed the Beast addon to kodi. I just saw it today and looks very interesting. thanks for the help guys, love the unraid community.

What is openelec and how does it make kodi better.

I share my media with friends and family that's what I like about Plex.

one more question. Once I install this do I also need to install anything on the computer that is hooked up to my TV? I know with Plex I have the server version installed on unraid and the player on my mac mini. Is this how KODI works?

This is from the plugin, I was pretty sure it was perfect but I haven't had to run one in about a year and just wanted to make sure. Also I should start it on sector 1 correct? As for suggestions I guess it would be nice if it came back perfect that it would say perfect and nothing to worry about. Just like to know I didn't miss anything.
