1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
I’ve been told by support their is a way to re-enable the drive but not how yet… Makes sense if you can mount and read it there should be a way to re-enable

Reduce power consumption with powertop
Am using a nas case with sata backplane. it uses molex split to 4x sata drives. Turned DEVSLP off anyway and seems fixed apart from the 13 hours to rebuild the 'disabled' drive 😆

Reduce power consumption with powertop
Has anyone had a problem with DEVSLP enabled in BIOS? My disk1 got disabled by unraid and it now wants to rebuild it. There's doesn't seem to be a way to re-enable a drive once Unraid thinks its bad. Even if you can mount and view the drive outside of the array... Looking at the logs it was a power/link issue which may have tripped it.

1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
Can anyone answer the question asked.. can a drive be re-enabled? There's nothing wrong with the cables, controller or power. I think it must have spun down to a low power state and from there something has happened & unraid thinks a drives broken but it's not... Anyway is there a way to bypass unraid's hissy fit? Both drives pass all smart checks... I can mount and access disk1. Its currently re-building but what a waste of time. If unraid doesn't support DEVSLP it should be noted and recorded so that people don't enable it in their motherboards. DevSlp or DevSleep is a feature in some SATA devices which allows them to go into a low power "device sleep" mode when sent the appropriate signal, which uses one or two orders of magnitude less power than a traditional idle. The feature was introduced by SanDisk in a partnership with Intel.

1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
Confirmed - can mount & read the disk outside the array just fine. Looks like I will have to waste hours getting it to rebuild the drive (Rebuilding a drive onto itself) https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Storage_Management#Rebuilding_a_drive_onto_itself How can I stop this happening again? How does spin down settings work when mover or parity check are already running??

1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
Is it possible to re-enable a drive or is that un-raids protective measure? I am fairly confident the drives are good as brand new less than 10days old. Is parity check smart enough to stop a drive spin down?? Is that what's caused this coupled with the devslip energy setting? I saw that POWERTOP has been removed from the tips & tweaks plugin because it can interfere with some sata interfaces... is that whats going on?

1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
It's now saying disk1 is disabled... but I can still run smart tests on it... FT is the parity drive. HG is disk1 drive. Am just running an extended smart test on disk1 will upload that aswell once complete. 1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
Many thanks for the speedy reply - It's a nas case so 4x drives per backplane. In the bios.. I did turn on sata devslip the other day in a bid to get it energy efficient.. so will reboot & turn that off.

1,876,356,798 Parity Errors !?
Fairly new build so no critical data. Ran 2nd parity check and it's showing 1,876,356,798 errors. Same amount on the main disk1 & again on the parity drive... Have I done something wrong? Or is this normal for a new build? Diagnostics attached moulin-rouge-diagnostics-20220903-1127.zip

Why is 2nd factor authentication ONLY for my servers website and not my actual server login?
Why is 2nd factor authentication ONLY for my servers website and not my actual server login? Its done via Google authenticator so offline… Anyone else like this for their server? some would find it annoying but it’s double secure.

Cache raid mirror on normal drive vs ssd? or just run a backup script?
So would you suggest btrfs snapshots as a backup strategy of the cache drives?

Cache raid mirror on normal drive vs ssd? or just run a backup script?
Just trying to find out a bit more about how the raid backup on the pool cache works? I have 2x 2tb SSDs and I could either: 1 - Use the raid pool setting to mirror them so cache is backed up live. 2tb usable. 2 - Use them as independent Cache pools and mirror to something else. 4tb usable. 3 - I could also run a script to backup the 2x cache drives onto the array at a specific time each day. 4tb usable. - So my question is how is the speed of the raid mirror affected by drive speed? - For example what If I use an non ssd drive for the caches mirror? - How would the data be handled at a slower write speed? - I'm guess you can only mirror from a single drive. - Can it mirror to a usb drive? Thanks

Recommended controllers for Unraid
Any recommendations for a x1 flex cable to fit under a GPU thats covering up a pci port? I have a gigbyte 560m d3h with: PCIe4 16x - Nvidia rtx a2000 double width GPU. PCIe3 1x - Covered by GPU but hoping to use a flex cable to run a sata extender 4x card. PCI - OLD School PCI port (no idea why they didnt stick this f*cker under the graphics card instead of the PCIe3 x1 slot.) PCI3 16x - 10g card in here - card is x4 size. I did buy this old pci sata card but obviously will be bottlenecked https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002598521420.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.3bc41802TrMTlW Better option is use a flex cable and mount the PCIe3 1x card slightly higher on the OLD SCHOOL PCI space. I note you can get 10g network cards with 2x m.2 slots built in... but sata ports would be more useful... https://www.qnap.com/en-uk/product/qm2-2p10g1tb

Reduce power consumption with powertop
@Aldamir I couldnt get the autotune thing to work so I did it manually... Which motherboard have you got? On mine you press f12 as it boots up on the first screen. This brings up the boot loader. At the bottom is an option for setup (bios menu) Loads bios. Choose advanced menu. Tweaker. Change most things from auto to enabled. Turn turbo boost to disabled. Anything that has more settings than auto/disabled/enabled leave on default settings. etc. Other setting is under sata settings in the bios menu. Choose enable devslip for all ports. Then save and exit. PC reboots. Load unraid. Login and run pftop again and you should see most of the settings are now good rather than bad under the 'tuning' heading.

Reduce power consumption with powertop
I went into bio last night and changed all the tweaker cpu settings to (enabled rather than auto). I didn't touch the settings where you can completely control the cpu just enabled all the c states and disabled tubo boost. It now shows its reaching c3. You can also force the gpu to idle in p8 rather than p0 by typeing in terminal 'nvidia-smi --persistence-mode=1' This has brought the gpu from 25w down to 12w. To make it permanent you could make a little script that launches on array start. #!/bin/bash #nvidia-smi --persistence-mode=1 nvidia-persistenced fuser -v /dev/nvidia*

DNS / Gateway
Think this is a bug rather than user error.. I ran into something similar a few days ago. I tried to change my dns from 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 but it wouldnt save so then I put in 8.8.8.8 and hit apply. I then noticed my routing settings had changed but I didnt know from what just that it looked different. Took me a while to figure it out.. It had changed my gateway settings (the setting above DNS). moulin-rouge-diagnostics-20220829-0151.zip

Compatible 2.5gbit NIC's (PCI or USB A)
I have played with a 10g & a few 2.5g cards from amazon they all work natively. The 2.5g ones are using the realtek 8125 chip, the b revision is better. Some of the intel cards had a problem with there first revisions & are now on revision 3. Anyway I think the basic idea is they can all freeze up if they get too hot so maybe chuck a little extra fan in or check their is actually thermal pad underneath the heatsink as sometimes they put a heatsink on but nothing to transfer the heat from the chip to the heatsink. £25 - 2.5Gb - Realtek 8125b https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0B1B4TKNY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 £36 - dual 2.5Gb - Realtek 8125 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XJ8CMQX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 £99 - 10Gb Ethernet - AQUANTIA AQTION AQC107 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0B4X3ZHJQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

[Support] Josh5 - Steam (Headless)
This is like magic! thanks so much for creating this. I have spent days trying to get gpu passthrough working with a VM. This is just so easy. For thos having issues with VNC no sound try a different web broswer. I find chrome works whereas safari displays an error. I'm using steam remote play so only using vnc to setup up games / downloads etc. Will then play with one of the moonlight setups for outside the house steaming. I'm running an nvidia rtx a2000.
