  1. Hi gang can you confirm if the LSI 9207-8I is a pci3 slot? what kind of speeds do you guys get? I have one of those annoying motherboards that will drop my x16 (but really x4) slot down to a x1 slot if I use a 2nd m.2 slot...
  2. @JorgeB could I get your take away from the spec sheet. Is it saying that the 2nd x16 is actually a x4 and when used with a 2nd m.2 the 2nd x16 (but actually x4) becomes a x1 slot? Where would that leave me bandwidth wise. It's a pcie 3.0 slot so a x1 would be 984.6 MB/s.. If thats the sacrifice it's not worth running the 2nd m.2 nvme right? better running a LSI card at x4 and chuck a sata ssd in there for 1st nvme's mirror?
  3. Imagine its because traditionally servers are about being powerful as possible rather than energy efficiency. I ran into problems with using sata powersaving functions. Everything else is good advice tho mostly done through BIOS. The in tips & tweaks turn to powersaving profile - you can choose to enable or disable boost but unraid isn't very good at reducing cores.
  4. Could always change the thermal pad / thermal paste behind the heatsink. But as @JorgeB says airflow is your best friend. Have you used all your motherboard's fan connectors at the moment? Might be able to add another fan. Noctua make near silent fans
  5. Anyone know what these mean? Unraid syslog Oct 8 01:48:11 Moulin-Rouge kernel: CPU: 10 PID: 9627 Comm: emhttpd Tainted: P B D O 5.19.14-Unraid #1 Oct 8 01:48:11 Moulin-Rouge kernel: CPU: 3 PID: 9140 Comm: sh Tainted: P B D O 5.19.14-Unraid #1 Oct 8 01:48:08 Moulin-Rouge kernel: CPU: 1 PID: 14542 Comm: shfs Tainted: P B D O 5.19.14-Unraid #1
  6. How does one add a 2nd instance of this so one can monitor the Intel GPU & the decent nvidia GPU?
  7. Seems to be NETDATA docker.
  8. Just future proofing... is there any LSI card that would make use of a 16x slot for bandwidth? If you factor in below it would give 4GB/s on gen1 x16 so 500MB/s if we go for a 8port sas card. If not then x8 would dish out speed to cope with spinning drives but not 8x SSDs. I ask because on many motherboards when using the 2nd m.2 slot the gen3 x16 card becomes a gen1 x16 card and the 2nd m2 becomes a gen2 instead of gen3. The gen4 x16 slot has a graphics card in.
  9. Getting a sh*t-ton of NGINX errors with this docker... But also suricata packet inspection on PFsence firewall is reporting this docker is trying to connect to a .TK domain name... (can be malware call home) .tk domains can be had for free so are often used for various things. I have now removed netdata and system is more stable.. It was locking up at night.
  10. Those with over 32Gb ram - what do you use it for? I'm finding the general unraid OS & 10 dockers (plex & all the rr's plus nordlynx, steamheadless etc uses up to 6/8GB ram. The rest is free so that leaves 24/26GB for a virtual machines etc which is insane.
  11. Upgraded to 6.11.1 last night & this morning noticed this oddity. 1 - Click shares 2 - Click Calculate size 3 - Notice shares on the array are being reported as 0TB 4 - I know my Plex 'Data' share is around 5TB 5 - Also other shares not screenshot-ed are showing 0TB. 5 - Data still accessible on the actual array disks - Screenshot below - Diagnostics attached. moulin-rouge-diagnostics-20221007-1241.zip
  12. What about if you run plex in your VM
  13. Last 2 days have been waking up to this. The server seems to be locking up overnight. It causes the dockers tab to become unresponsive. Can still acccess settings and main page but pressing stop array does nothing. No commands seem to work like shut down etc. So I have to manually reboot. Any help greatly appreciated. Diagnostics attached. moulin-rouge-diagnostics-20221006-1319.zip
  14. Funny isn't it.. I went with samsung as they make most memory chips so thought they should be good but.... Happy to say I haven't had any issues since swapping to a USB 2 stick! Support was pretty quick to reply with a new liscence code. A few hours. BUT if you're on your 2nd stick in a year you can do it all automatically yourself. Am now using this: SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive,Black £7.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MPCJDXS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Haven't had any of those issues since. Although it is sandisk (some say to avoid that brand as lots of fakes out there) as it is usb2 I think it should be ok. Something did cause the system to lock up overnight but think that might have been a mixture of my PFsense router (firewall) crashing as trying out some new packet sniffing tools. Unraid has been running pretty solid for 30days or so. I did swap the motherboard over but that was to fix the crappy PCIe layout on the gigabyte board. I still had issues with USB boot with the samsung stick on the new MSI board. It averages around 90watts for 2x 12tb drives, 2x 2tb nvmes & 2x 2tb sata SSDs. I have another 2x 12tb drives ready to go as needed.
  15. 4x traditional sata drives (not SSD!!) would be acceptable on PCIe gen3 x1 because 900MB/s ÷ 4 = 225MB/s which is on par with the fastest spinning drives. I'm running 3x traditional sata's & 1x sata SSD and seems ok so far. The SSD is part of a mirror cache pool with the other half connected to motherboard. https://www.fullexposure.photography/how-fast-is-pcie-4-0-nvme-vs-pcie-3-0/#:~:text=But the biggest benefit of,(31.52 Gb%2Fs).
  16. Does depend on what drives you're hooking up and how many you intend to use at once. Most normal spinning sata drives less than 180MB/s & unlikely to be reading that from 6 drives at once. Sata SSD's could be up to 600MB/s each so would eat up the bandwidth. But using on x1 will become more of an issue once ZFS is implemented.
  17. Hey just wondered - is anyone else on the new 6.11 and getting this pulse audio error? If not I'll delete the appdata and re-install.
  18. Also I have access to server but no array, dockers VM's etc as stuck waiting for new key... manual mentions about setting up a trial... but which files would I copy over to get access to my old server.. a blanket new trial wont have my apps or share info... I.E which bit on the stick relates to the trial key and which bits can I just copy over from my USB backup.. Thanks.
  19. How do I find out the GUID of a stick that can't boot unraid? I'm on mac and can find it's serial no but I don't think that's the GUID. I can boot up to find the new GUID on a new stick but I need the old one to help speed up getting a new key...
  20. How do you find the GUID of a dead usb stick? or not dead but wont boot unraid. It will connect to a pc.
  21. Anyone have an idea on support turn around time for a new key? I've already used the automatic replace key so am now onto 3rd usb stick. This time it's a usb2 key.
  22. The general unraid console log tells you the dhcp address of any just started VM. This should be very easy to add to the UI.
  23. Anyone tried a MSI thudnerbolt4 card? For me it would be cheaper & than getting a thunderbolt to 10g ethernet adapter (for macbook pro) + 10g ethernet pcie for my unraid system.
