  1. Oh yes, thanks, I should have thought about it... The contextual help is very informative and basically answer my questions...
  2. Hi all, I am new to this fantastic plugin and wanted to give a little bit of feedback from someone discovering Unassigned Devices for the first time: - Despite the first few messages in this thread and the messages pinned, I could not find easily the information I needed regarding using scripts. I believe this is a feature that many users will be interested in and it would be worth in my opinion to cover it in a bit more details in the thread introduction. - I am using the "clear" theme of UNRAID and with this setting the device configuration page is very confusing. Not sure if this can be changed but the first time I came to that page I saw under device script: "select the script or Default button". Problem is there was no default button showing unless I scrolled down, and there is no other indication. Since the script text input box has the same color as the background I got completely confused See screenshot). - I tried to search into the 460 pages of this thread but I could not find any explanation of "user script" vs "device script"... Is this documented anywhere? Sorry if I sound like ranting, I just wanted to illustrate that for new users like me this plugin feels a bit intimidating. And thanks for your help.
  3. For those who have the same board and struggle to get the PWM module recognized by UNRAID, I found out thank to this Reddit port that the driver for the Install ITE IT87 Driver needs to be installed via the apps...
  4. Quick update: I have switched to a DIY NAS based on an Intel N100 motherboard from CWWK and I am just finishing the migration from my QNAP. My UNRAID box has been running for 3 weeks now and the migration was a bit of a bumpy road and steep learning curve, but I am now very confortable with UNRAID and I won't look back at the QNAP, which I switched off today. Here are the hardware specs of my UNRAID box: - Jonsbo N2 case (5-bay) - CWWK "Purple" mainboard with N100 CPU and ASM1166 SATA controller - 2 x 512 GB NVME SSD (1 from ADATA and 1 from Kingston) - 16 GB RAM - 10,5 TB of usable storage (17 TB raw) - may grow to 16,5 usable in the near future - Be Quiet SFX-L PSU, 80 Plus "Gold" - could not find any PSU that is less than 500W, way overkill (my setup draw 17-20 W a idle) - Noctua NH-L9i for the CPU and Noctua NF-A12x15 for the case (the stock fan from Jonsbo was too loud for my taste) Migrating the data (roughly 4 TB) was a bit of a pain - I ended up pushing from the QNAP using rsync. But on my first try I forgot about how rsync handle symlinks and I had a few circular references which resulted in a bit of a mess. Other than that, I made some customization following the great tutorial from AlienTech42 and SpaceInvader One : - Converted the pool from BTRFS to ZFS - Converted the appdata folders to datasets - Enabled Snapshots The migration also entailed consolidating some workloads from a separate Dell 7040 mini "server" onto the UNRAID, converting an iSCSI LUN used by a Raspberry Pi to NFS, reworking the automated transfer of backups from the various endpoints on my network, connecting my Eaton UPS etc. This is the list of containers running on my NAS: - a LAMP sandbox (primarily used by my son) - Calibre Web Automated - Chrome Remote Desktop (this is my cheap VDI, more info here) - Newrelic Infrastructure client - Vaultwarden + Nginx + Vaultwarden-Backup (2 instances, 1 "public" and 1 "private" for the most sensitive passwords) - Photoprism - qBittorrent - Changedetection.io + Selenium Overall I am happy with the setup. The only point which I think would need to be looked at it the absence of low privilege user to connect to UNRAID. I do not feel comfortable doing all my rsync transfer etc using the root account. Been burned quite a few times working as root when I was younger. I know there are workaround but I need to look deeper into it.
  5. Afaik yes, there is no option to make snapshots in the GUI by default.
  6. I have the same problem: I recently moved to Photoprism and have had it ingest 101 k photos but only ~85 k are showing up. Lots of errors but also many videos rejected because of the size limit. Did that solution work for you?
  7. I am migrating to UNRAID myself, went straight to v.7.0.0-rc2. As far as I can tell it is very stable and could not find any problem, but I need to test it a little longer. Build a test system if you can and see it by yourself.
  8. Hi all, My UNRAID box has two NICs connected on two different networks. I want to limit the visibility of the UNRAID services only to one of the two networks - which is connected to eth0 / br0 (the other interface, eth1, is not connected to br0). Under Settings->Network Settings->Interface Extra, I have included br0 and excluded eth1 of the list of interfaces the Unraid services use. However, I noticed that WSD still binds to all interfaces present. I tried to add an option "-i [IP of eth0]" to the WSD settings but this does not help (in fact this seems to prevent the WSD service to start). Any idea? Is this a bug?
  9. Hi all, I'd like to report what I believe is a bug in the UI. At the time of creation of a container, it is possible to specify the published ports as [IP]:[Port], for example 10.18.10.200:8080, so that the container is bound to a specific IP/interface. In such case the list of containers in the UI still shows the default/br0 IP under "Lan IP : Port". Not sure if this was reported before... Thanks.
  10. EDIT: Nevermind after a complete reboot of the NAS the info is showing correctly. Not sure what happened but now it works as expected. ------ Here it is: General Settings Refresh Interval: 30 seconds Lazy Load: No Load ZnapZend Data: No Destructive Mode: No Datasets Datasets Exclusion Patterns (Just One!): /dockerfiles/.* Directory Listing (Dataset names, one per line!): mypool/docker mypool/otherdataset Snapshots Dataset Icon Alert Max Days: 30 Snapshots Pattern: Y-m-d-His Snapshots Prefix (Do not include the '@' or spaces): default blank
  11. Hi all, Sorry if I ask a stupid question, I am new to UNRAID and obviously I am discovering this fantastic plugin. In my box running 7.0.0-rc2, when I open the ZFS Master tab there is no information and I need to manually click on the refresh icon to populate the page. The refresh interval is set to 15 minutes. Is this the normal behavior?
  12. Thank you for that, happy to learn about these possibilities. However in my case I think that would not work since I am moving files from /upload/[whatever] to a new share (no dataset) named /[whatever]
  13. I would love to see snapshots management added in future releases.
  14. Ok thanks for the explanation, that explains why it takes so long...
  15. When moving files I get a bunch of errors like this: First I am not sure why it says "inter-device move" since I am moving files from /mnt/disk1 to an other location on the same /mnt/disk1 and second because I run the command as root I don't understand how it's possible that some files are not moved and the source directories cannot be deleted after...
  16. I do use the command line and do regular "mv" between /mnt/disk1/upload and /mnt/disk1/whatever but it takes ages...
  17. Hi all, I am new to Unraid and I have installed version 7.0.0-rc2 on a brand new system which eventually is going to replace my Qnap home NAS. I have started to migrate my data from the Qnap to the Unraid box. After trying various options I ended up pushing the files from the Qnap via rsync. The total amount of data to synchronize is small, around 4 TB. Now, I initially synchronized all the files into a share named "upload" and wanted to then move files selectively from that single share to various shares with specific access rights. Unfortunately the process of moving files between shares as proven to be quite challenging. I am doing it via the share browser in the Unraid admin interface. When I move (thousands of) files there is this pop-up window that shows up, with very little useful information. If I minimize the pop-up then it's gone and I cannot find a way to bring it back. Moving files (on the same disk) that way takes forever which should not be the case, and will ultimately silently fail half way through. Given the difficulties I faced with moving files I decided to re-synchronize once again, but this time to different shares instead of using one single share. But for this I needed to free up space by deleting the files previously synchronized and using the same file browser I started deleting the files/directories and ended-up with the same issue: deleting takes forever, if I minimize the pop-up then it's lost and the process would eventually fail. My questions are: - Am I doing it wrong? Is there a better way to move and delete files? - Is there a way to bring back the pop-up window when it's been minimized? Thanks.
  18. EDIT: Please disregard this message, my share had reached its "minimum free space" hence writing was no longer possible. I am not deleting my message in case someone else has the same question in the future. Hi all, I am trying to synchronize files between a QNAP NAS (the source) and a new UNRAID box using the rsync-server app. My UNRAID share at /mnt/user/upload has been mounted on the Docker container with the Read/Write option. Unfortunately when I try to write into that directory, via rsync or directly from the container console I get an error which says "no space left on device", despite the fact that there is plenty of space available...
  19. Thanks, I just ordered the same Sandisk USB Flash Drive...
  20. Thanks for the feedback, many pointers in your answers and I'll need to explore further.
  21. Hi all, I am considering migrating from a 2-bay QNAP home NAS to UNRAID, and I have a few questions... Currently I am using my NAS for the following usecases: - Automatic backup of pictures from family members' smartphones - Photo album with face recognition - File sharing (mostly archive files, movies, etc.) - Light containers (Vaultwarden, Changedetection.io) - Local backup for LAN computers/servers, e.g. via TimeMachine - Remote/offsite backup for a friend via rsync - VM sandboxing when needed My volume of data is quite small, I'd say about 2 TB of valuable data and another 2.5 TB of data that I could afford to loose. The valuable data is being backed-up regularly using the 3-2-1 strategy. My current NAS is a 2-bay QNAP with 2 x 6TB in RAID1 and 8 GB RAM. The reason for moving away from my current system is that it's running a bit slow as the number of containers is growing. I am also considering consolidating some other containers running on a "server" (Dell 7040 micro) onto the NAS. Those containers are sitting on a different VLAN (my "DMZ") and accessible from the public Internet. From what I have seen UNRAID matches my need, either out of the box or through plugins, but some things are still a bit unclear to me: - Container network isolation: I want to be 200% sure that I can attach one virtual switch to my DMZ VLAN and have some containers running in the LAN while other containers are in the DMZ. I believe this is doable, am I correct? - iSCSI: I have seen a plugin that can provide the iSCSI target feature, but I have not seen much of feedback on that plugin. Is it reliable? - Photo-album with face recognition: I have seen several plugins to get a photo album but could not find one that does the automatic face recognition, does this exist? - Backup data to external USB drive: is this possible? If so natively or through additional plugins? Now, in terms of migration strategy, I am thinking about this: - Setup my UNRAID system with 2 x 512GB NVME in a pool for the cache, 1 x 4TB HDD for data and another 4TB HDD for parity (taking advantage of the fact that I have 2 x 4TB disks laying around) - Move my ~2TB of valuable data from my existing NAS to UNRAID, presumably via rsync - Break my RAID1 on the existing NAS, reuse one of the 6TB drive to upgrade the parity on the UNRAID system - Repurpose the 4TB drive ex-parity as an additional data drive to reach 8 TB usable - Migrate my 2.5TB of non-valuable data off the old NAS - Move the second 6TB drive to UNRAID, add it as a data drive and decommission one of the 2 x 4TB drive to reach 10TB of usable space (more than enough) - Obviously this step involves moving data left and right to free disks but that should not be a problem and I am not in a hurry. Appreciate your opinion on this migration plan... Finally some more questions: 1. I am planning to use ZFS filesystem on my data disks, because I want to be able to do snapshots (snapshots saved my a** a few times, I am a big fan and absolutely need it for the (small) part of the data that is changing frequently), any recommendation on that part? 2. I do hope the GUI has a light theme, as I hate the trendy-but-unreadable dark mode, could you please confirm? Sorry for the long post, thanks for reading, and even more thanks for answering 🙂
