New Forum Option: Compact Version
Hey everyone! Just another forum theme update for those that have been waiting for more options. Today we are adding a compact view mode that tightens up the forums for everyone. This will immediately tighten up the appearance and reduce some of the empty vertical space you may typically see. This is most noticeable when viewing individual threads, as we've dramatically reduced the size of the profile pic to make short replies not take up so much of that vertical space previously mentioned. Here's an example of a thread with both display modes: Normal View Compact View Another obvious way to "tighten things up" even more would be disable the display of signatures as they take up more vertical space than typically anything else. To disable signatures, go to your Account Settings page here: To enable this new Compact view, simply scroll to the bottom of any forum page and click the checkbox next to "Compact version". Let us know what you think!

trouble with GTX 750 Ti Passthrough
GPU pass through with AMD cards can be very tricky at best. Some cards work better than others, but it's tough to predict which will be ok and which won't. Out of curiosity, you don't happen to have your VM configured to use both a VNC and a GPU graphics device, do you? Edit your VM and scroll down to the graphics portion. You should have it set to only have your GPU. If you have both a VNC and a GPU, that may be your problem.

Calling All Graphic Artists: Help Design the Logo for unRAID!
Hey, thanks for calling us out on this. Seriously. We dropped the ball on providing you guys with feedback and for that, we are truly sorry. Good news though! Following this exercise, we did end up contracting with a firm that is helping us finalize a new logo and the work done in this thread has definitely contributed towards that end. While I think the final product will probably end up looking a bit different from what we've seen here, this definitely helped us figure out what we did and didn't like and guided us toward that end. That being said, its worth noting that the investment we are making extends far beyond just a logo, and I think you guys will be awfully pleased with the end result once we get there. We're still probably at least a few months away from revealing the efforts of this project, but we may have a few things to share along the way ;-).

New Forum Registration Policy
There is no solution that will 100% prevent spam. It's impossible to stop a human being from manually generating it. But that's just the thing, these are human beings that are spamming at this point. We know this because we have had Turing tests as part of registration and they still made it through. We also had a spam service investigate to confirm the same thing. Needless to say we are trying any and all solutions to combat this problem, but good moderation is the last line of defense that we will always rely on to catch bad actors. So please join me.in thanking these unsung heroes for their efforts here!!

New Forum Registration Policy
Hi Everyone! In an effort to combat spammers that are flooding the forum with spam posts, we are putting a new requirement in place: the first post of any new member MUST be approved by the moderators before normal members can see it and before additional posts will be allowed. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause folks wishing to post, but due to the sheer nature of the spammers hitting us, this is one of the better ways for us to combat the issue for the time being. Thank you in advance for your understanding. All the best, The Lime Technology Team

Unraid Shares Disappear
We need a copy of the diagnostics from the system AFTER it has gone into the state where the shares disappear. If you can attach that, it would be very helpful in diagnosing your issue. All the best, Jon

unRAID 6 NerdPack - CLI tools (iftop, iotop, screen, kbd, etc.)
You are on a very outdated version of unRAID. I would suggest updating to 6.3.5 and see if you can recreate the issue.

Calling All Graphic Artists: Help Design the Logo for unRAID!
The main purpose of this thread wasn't to commission a design project, but to get some inspiration for a design project. After the deadline (Sunday), we will be creating a bid on 99designs for the actual work. Their community of designers will then submit concepts to us to choose from. When creating the bid, we have to specify things we like or ideas we are fond of. This thread provided us with some of that. All of that said, if anyone's work gets recreated in the final design, I can easily see us doing something very nice for the artist. We just figured with the loyal and vibrant community we have, some folks might want to take a stab at the creative design work.

Calling All Graphic Artists: Help Design the Logo for unRAID!
Lol! Love the play on a can of RAID as a parody! Pretty funny! Lots of good ideas in here that should help inspire us to craft a final logo. Really good creative input and brainstorming. You guys are awesome! Still a few more days left for submissions, but after the 3rd, we'll be contracting the work out for the final imagery.

Definitely liking this concept. Not necessarily a huge fan of the font, but the interlocking U and N are really cool!

Calling All Graphic Artists: Help Design the Logo for unRAID!
Hello unRAID Community! For far too long now we have gone without a proper logo for unRAID. We have wanted one for some time now, but because none of us at LT are graphic artists, we were afraid we'd end up with something like this: So instead of assaulting your eyes with our pathetic attempts at art, we thought we'd throw it out to you, our community, to see if any talented artists out there want to submit their ideas and concepts for consideration. We will be working with a professional designer to generate the final artwork, but your ideas could shape the look and feel of the logo. Here's a quick run-down of how we're going to do this: All proposals must be in before December 3rd, 2017. The logo should be 1024 x 1024 pixels in size, and should look good when downsized to 512 x 512 or even 256 x 256. Creating a vector-based image (think Adobe Illustrator) is highly recommended. No "tagline" is required to be in the logo (e.g. "The Ultimate Home Media Server"), but if you have an interesting one that you want to include, go for it! Feel free to submit multiple options if you have more than one! You must own the copyright to any images/art you use and be willing to transfer said ownership to Lime Technology, Inc. Any fonts you use must be royalty-free, otherwise we can't use them. Open source fonts are a big plus. To submit a proposal, simply reply to this thread and include your work in the post. If you wish to incorporate the use of stock photos/imagery, please provide a link to where it can be purchased along with your submission (original artwork will definitely be looked at more favorably). It is possible that we may want to include concepts from multiple designs. NOTE: If you are a professional designer and wish to be considered for contracting the final work, please indicate as such in your response and be sure to include a link to a portfolio of your work. Thanks in advance for all of your submissions!

Large copy/write on btrfs cache pool locking up server temporarily
Possibly. Tom and I had a long conversation about proper trim support at one point. The real trick is when you have an SSD assigned to the array. Depending on the method of discard/trim that the SSD supports, it could potentially violate the integrity of parity (changing values on the device without updating the corresponding blocks on the parity disk). I realize the context of this thread is with relation to the cache, but if we are implementing proper support for trim, we will want to address this at the same time. Just had to chime in and thank @johnnie.black for all his work on this topic. I am marking this thread for future review so we can see if there are further ways using the knowledge in here to make things better for everyone.

[SOLVED] Added unRAID Share to VM/ Ubuntu can't start Network
Hmm, very odd. We don't have much experience using the virtfs method with Ubuntu VMs. Our primary use-case for it in unRAID was for the Open/LibreELEC VMs config data mappings. Those seem to work fine. I would probably suggest posting in the Ubuntu forums to see if this is related to a kernel config parameter or something else amiss, as I doubt it is a host configuration issue.
