  1. I was looking forward to a 5TB WD Red for use as a parity drive. I wonder what the price point would have been at.
  2. The Seagate 4TB is currently at 2tb is at 220$ on Amazon and the WD 4TB is at 213$. I'm going to wait for the 5TB drives and probably pick two up. The prices are still pretty high though.
  3. It means that it's meant to be used in those NAS devices that hold 5 hard drives (like the Synology Disk Station). Those enclosures typically run hotter and Seagate and WD have designed their NAS drives with that (and RAID use) in mind. Otherwise, the NAS drives run great in normal PC cases and should run cooler, since there is usually more room and more airflow in a traditional case. It shouldn't have any bearing on the drive's warranty.

    Next Stable

I'd rather just a stable, supported release.
  5. Good deal, but I don't trust NewEgg's packaging. Look at the reviews for this drive at NewEgg vs Amazon, who double boxes its shipments.
  6. Damn, that's a major bummer. Guess I'll just use the 2500k to upgrade my HTPC (which will end up being overkill). If anything, I'll run Plex on the HTPC. Thanks a lot guys for the help as always. Guess Virtualization is out of the reach (price wise) for now.
  7. So I have an i5 2500k lying around after I bought an i7 3770k for around 130$ as part of the Intel Retail Edge program. What direction should I go with it? I currently have a great unraid setup that I've been using for over 2 years. That server is running a Supermicro - X7SPA-HF with an Atom processor. It does everything that I've wanted to do until now- I want to start using Plex and that poor Atom doesn't have the power to transcode anything. I'm thinking about virtualizing my unraid install. If needed, I can swap the i5 with my i7 and use that as the processor in a new server. Any recommendations for mobos etc (I'd love another board with IPMI)? Is anyone running a similar, virtualized setup?

I don't because these dates/deadlines/estimates are always missed.
  9. Bought a new WD Red 3TB drive this week, ran a preclear cycle and replaced my old parity drive with it. The server started calculating Parity and got over 60% done before the WebGUI stopped working- it times out. I can still access my usershares and access the server console via IPMI. Any ideas why the web interface is inaccessible (I'm not good at interpreting the syslog, other than glaring errors)? Should I wait a few hours (I'm assuming the server is still doing its parity check) and see if it comes back online? Yes, I'm aware that disk3 is on it's way out. I'm planning on replacing that drive with my old parity drive and RMAing it. And I'm still on 5 RC8A because it was rock solid and I was under the assumption that 5.0 Final would be released soon. Server stats if needed: Mobo: Supermicro MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525-O PSU- Antec NEO ECO 400W RAM- Crucial 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 Drives: 1x 2tb Samsung as Parity (Now a WD Red 3TB) 1x 2tb Seagate (Samsung replacement) 1x 2tb Samsung 3x 1.5tb Samsung 750gb Seagate as cache Syslog: http://pastebin.com/sinYf0Gx Thanks
  10. Care to do a quick write up? I'd like to do something similar.
  11. After seeing what happened to WebOS, I hope not. Hopefully Tom 2 or Jerry stays true to the statement of a release next week otherwise I'll lose even more confidence in LimeTech.
  12. Try installing just sickbeard and sabnzbd and see if that works. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be couchpotato.
  13. Just rebooted the server. Still no webgui. I also disabled my packages by renaming the directory for now. Any ideas? syslog.zip
  14. Hey guys, my server hung while attempting a reboot with the webgui disappearing. I rebooted the server via IPMI and the webgui still doesn't show up. How can I begin troubleshooting? How can I disable the plugins without the webgui? What other info do you guys need to help me troubleshoot? Thanks for any and all help, I appreciate it.
  15. I think it's a waste to use a 4TB drive as cache, but other than that, can't wait to see how this progresses. Do the drives have a warranty?
  16. That would be understandable if unRaid was a free product. One of the reasons why I bought unRaid was the promise of ongoing support and upgrades, otherwise I would have gone with FlexRaid. I was told that 5.0 was around the corner. That was well over a year ago. At the very least, I'd want some updates on the progress, but we aren't even given that.
  17. Hey guys, I've been on 4.7 stable for well over a year and a half (knock on wood). I want to upgrade to a 5.0 build to take advantage of 3TB hdd support and the plugin system. My specs are: Mobo: SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525-O (LAN chipset is Intel 82574L) Ram: Crucial 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 PSU: Antec NEO ECO 400W I currently have a 2TB drive as parity, 2x 2TB, 3x 1.5TB as data drives and a 750GB as cache. Is there anything I need to know to make this upgrade a smooth one? I primarily use SMB for data access (XBMC and drive mapping) and have the usual Sickbeard, Sabnzbd, CouchPotato setup. Thanks in advance
  18. lol, I know right? My current server itself is only 6.5tb. Can't wait for these to drop in price.
  19. I don't know about you, but I purchased Unraid because of the promise of future support and development. If I had known that version 5 would have fallen into developmental hell I probably would have rethought the purchase. I'm very happy with Unraid right now, but I'm upset that version 5 has been over 1 year in the making and I'm even more upset that NO UPDATES, at all, regarding the situation has been posted. Just keep us updated. It is the very least you can do. That's all.
  20. Now that the website (forum) seems to be back up and functional perhaps you can provide us an update regarding this topic: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=18512.0
  21. I have a similar problem. I can't access unmenu when any python scripts are running. When I stop them, unmenu suddenly works again. This started happening recently; it worked as it should when I set it up for over 10 months. Any ideas?
