  1. I've found a common theme after tearing down the server, all 3 drives are connected to a rosewill RC-218 PCI-E SATA Controller. They are the only 3 drives connected. Seeing as the SMART reports came back good for all 3 drives, It's looking very likely that the culprit is the card. I don't have a spare right now, I can re-seat the card, re-seat the cables. Should the red ball drive go back to green if that fixes it? or would i have to force it somehow to go green? I've been reading the wiki, I'm not clear on that point.
  2. Found a drive red balled on my server. The weird thing is, it wasn't the drive with write errors. My Parity and disk 4 had many write errors but disk 6 has the Red ball. I changed the cable on disk 6, retrieved the smart report, no issues or indicators showing anything wrong. Ran short test, no issues. I'm currently running the long test. I also pulled the smart report on the Parity drive and drive 4, also came back clean. I haven't run short and long tests on them yet. Sorry for the novel, just wanted to check if I'm on the right track and any advice is appreciated. Edit: Added Syslog from yesterday and today. Added 3 smart reports. Version: 5.0 RC16c Information about Drives: SDB - Data Drive with many write errors, but green ball SDC - Data Drive with no write errors, but red ball (I've changed SATA cables on this drive so far) SDD - Parity Drive with many write errors, but green ball Don't mind the temps in the smart reports, they are always in the low 30's, i had my case out and all fans disconnected when i ran the tests (had a big room fan pointed at the server in the meantime). logs.zip smartsdb.txt smartsdc.txt smartsdd.txt
  3. Welcome to the team Tom #2. I look forward to a more professional approach from LimeTech.
  4. I've been up and running with -13 for over a week. It seems to have crashed this morning. I can't get into any web interfaces, i can't telnet/ssh in. Will try and see if i can get on directly to the machine. //Edit: System was locked up. I had to reboot. Parity check is running now.
  5. I would perhaps try running the utility again? I'm not sure why it'd miss some folders. The only issue I have is, I use my cache drive for my Transmission client. Any new folder Transmission creates is set to root/root and i can't move/delete from windows. But it's a small problem in the grand scheme of things and i just work around it for now. I'm sure there is a way to fix, but I haven't had the time to research it.
  6. The folders/files you're having problems with, have you checked to see who the owner/group/permissions are for it? Should be Nobody / Users and should be rwxrwx---
  7. Seems something in Unmenu keeps my drives spinning. If I keep just the normal unraid screen up, my drives will go to sleep. If i keep an unmenu window open (open to my menu). My drives stay spinning.
  8. Thanks gents. I'll do some reading and troubleshooting this weekend and report back.

  10. Oh I know, That's where I normally buy my parts. I'm just saying, New Egg has been so disappointing in Canada. At first they refused to ship to Canada. Now that they do, they charge us so much more than their US customers for the exact same product coming from the exact same warehouse. NCIX rocks, they are to us what New Egg is to our friends down south. Not sure if this has something to do with it. I was told a while ago, that importing merchandise from A US based company and/or person requires that both the receiver and the shipper pay import duties. I didn't believe it, but was told by someone who purchased an expensive lava lamp. She got hit with import duties as did the guy in the US selling the lava lamp. Now when I sell to her she has me mark it as gift with a value of $18. I've bought many things from the US, several where I knew the person sending it and it's only the receiver that pays duty charges, not the sender. Basically the package will get to the border and be held in customs. If they decide to charge the receiver, then it's a COD deal where I'd only receive it if I pay the fee. New Egg has all of that built in, they charge us for S&H and Canadian taxes (13% in Ontario). That should cover things for Canadian Customs as all they really want is the 13% tax. If New Egg are building in some sort of brokerage fee into their prices, they shouldn't have bothered coming to Canada. Anyway, sorry for derailing this thread so much. To sum it up: Americans can buy a 2TB WD Ears for $89.99 from New Egg Canadians can buy a 2TB WD Ears for $89.99 from NCIX Cheers!

  12. You could always live in Canada where New Egg is selling the exact same drive for $120. The dollar is about 1:1, and it ships from the same warehouse as the one you'd buy. I'm not sure what New Egg is thinking, they are not competitive in the Canada market at all.
  13. Can't think of anything retail. Have you considered (do you have the means) to build your own? I have a guy on my private forum that has made a few cases that sound similar to what you need, let me know if you want to take a look.
  14. Whoops! was missing that. Thanks bud! Works great now.
  15. I got my USB drive mounted and shared but it's read-only? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. root@Tower:/mnt/disk/crashplan# mount fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw) usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw) /dev/sdh1 on /boot type vfat (rw,noatime,nodiratime,umask=0,shortname=mixed) /dev/hda1 on /mnt/cache type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) /dev/md5 on /mnt/disk5 type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) /dev/md2 on /mnt/disk2 type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) /dev/md4 on /mnt/disk4 type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) /dev/md1 on /mnt/disk1 type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) /dev/md3 on /mnt/disk3 type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) /dev/md6 on /mnt/disk6 type reiserfs (rw,noatime,nodiratime,noacl,nouser_xattr) shfs on /mnt/user type fuse.shfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,allow_other,default_permissions) shfs on /mnt/user0 type fuse.shfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,allow_other,default_permissions) /dev/sdi1 on /mnt/disk/crashplan type ntfs (ro,umask=111,dmask=000)
  16. Quick question. I installed Bubba's Transmission package manually. If I remove it from my go script, then install via unmenu and set the same variables. Will it keep my torrents currently active in tact? Or will I have to reload them? Basically I want to move to the unMenu version without disrupting my already working setup. Thanks
  17. the 2TB is the desktop version (requires an AC Adapter) where the 1TB looks like a portable one (only requires USB). However since there are no 1TB laptop drives, it's more than likely a 2 x 500 2.5in setup.
  18. Bubba, if i get a "FATAL: Module acpi_cpufreq.ko not found" does that mean my processor isn't supported? I have an Atom 330
  19. Remove this line: #| at now + 1 minutecd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c and this line: #until test -d /mnt/disk1; do sleep 10; done Even though you think they are commented out, I suspect they are the issue. Woohoo! that worked. Thanks Joe!
  20. Thanks for the reply Joe! Nothing is reinstalling. I have that exact line in my go script. This is my entire go script: #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & /boot/unmenu/uu installpkg /boot/packages/transmission+unraid-0.0.2-i386-bubba.tgz cp -f /boot/packages/settings.json.default /boot/custom/transmission/transmission.conf cp -f /boot/packages/settings.json /boot/custom/transmission/transmission.conf /boot/custom/transmission/transctl start #| at now + 1 minutecd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c #until test -d /mnt/disk1; do sleep 10; done cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c
