  1. I have it working again... The devices re-appeared on System Devices when I removed the new SSD. I unchecked them, edited the VM to not use the GPU. Then reinstalled the SSD and reconfigured the passthru. Thanks for the help, your insight lead me down the right path.
  2. I guess I need to remove the passed through GPU before adding the SSD? Because after adding the SSD the passed through GPU does not appear in the VM config, so I don't see any way to change it in the UI.
  3. I added a NMVE drive and now my VM won't start. I get the following email: I managed to find /var/log/vfio-pci-errors: /var/log# cat vfio-pci-errors Error: Vendor:Device 10de:21c4 not found at 0000:05:00.0, unable to bind device Error: Device 0000:05:00.1 does not exist, unable to bind device Error: Device 0000:05:00.2 does not exist, unable to bind device Error: Device 0000:05:00.3 does not exist, unable to bind device I have no idea what any of this means... How do I troubleshoot? Edit: I uninstalled the new NMVE drive and found in Tools->System Devices that 10de:21c4 is the GPU that is passed through to the VM.... still not sure why adding a SSD would break this and how to proceed.
  4. Anyone know if this is fixed in 6.12?
  5. It was just unexpected to me for a plugin to bypass the notification system settings and display a main page banner for non-critical updates. My update posture is to review release notes periodically and take any updates that fix security or data loss bugs... Otherwise I leave my server (including plugins and dockers) on a proven stable release and it sits quietly in the basement serving files to other devices on my LAN... this may be an edge case since this is an enthusiast community and unraid is an active hobby to many here. Sorry that I offended you. Your plugin adds a lot of value to unraid and I appreciate the work you do for all of us for no compensation.
  6. I understand that, but I'd prefer not to be on the bleeding edge. Shouldn't the plugin respect the Notification settings?
  7. I'm looking for the same thing, did you ever figure out a way? In trying to fix this, I have disabled update notifications everywhere in UnRaid that I can find, but unassigned devices doesn't seem to respect those settings. I let the dust settle after a storm of updates so others can beta test before I accept them, so the repeated notifications are annoying (I love the plugin, I just don't need to be informed that there were minor tweaks and corrections multiple times a week!) I see the replies saying that update notification banners are an UnRaid thing so they can't be disabled, but other plugins don't seem to do it on the main UnRaid page (that I have noticed....)
  8. @Aussybob @redrob2 Did you ever get passthrough working? I have the same CPU and motherboard.. Running a Win10 VM for Blue Iris and Codeproject.AI
  9. That is exactly what I failed to find. Thank you!
  10. I have an old Supermicro 24 bay server which had a X7DBE-X motherboard. I upgraded the motherboard, but the system header (for power switch, LEDs, speaker, etc) is a proprietary header... I just have a free hanging power switch hooked up for now. I haven't been able to find one, but is there a pre-built adapter cable available to use the Supermicro case's proprietary connector with a standard ATX motherboard?
  11. I have an array with all 6TB disks and dual parity. I have 3 18TB drives on hand that I was about to use to upgrade parity, but when I ran a parity check before starting, 2 of my data drives started racking up read errors and re-allocated sectors. Can I rebuild those failing drives now with the new 18 TB disks and then upgrade my parity drives to 18 TB later? Will the data drives then be able to use their full capacity after the parity drives are upgraded?
  12. Thanks! I just changed it from the cache drive to the user share like you and that fixed it. /mnt/user/appdata/binhex-krusader
  13. Thanks for the help! Linux 4.14.26-unRAID. Last login: Mon Jun 4 07:23:10 -0400 2018 on /dev/pts/0 from 192.168.1.6. root@Inara:~# ls -al /mnt/cache/appdata/binhex-krusader total 32 drwxrwxr-x 1 nobody users 64 Jun 10 21:14 ./ drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 70 Jun 10 21:06 ../ drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 6 Jun 10 21:14 krusader/ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 162 Jun 10 21:14 perms.txt -rwxrwxr-x 1 nobody users 24712 Jun 10 21:49 supervisord.log* root@Inara:~#
  14. In the share settings for " /mnt/cache/appdata", I have security set to "Public". My understanding is that nobody in linux is a built in "user"... Do I need to create an unraid user named "nobody"? What is nobody's password? I'm obviously in way over my head...
  15. When I start up Krusader after installing, I get a dialog box saying something to the effect of "Unable to write to /home/nobody..... bookmarks won't work until you fix this". What do I need to configure?
  16. I guess we can call this one closed. I just changed the server patch cable from STP to a brand new UTP cable and plugged it into a different port on the switch. Now the shares are back online and I just copied 100GB without inducing the failure.... I have no idea if it was the cable or the switch, but I'm done troubleshooting for now. Thanks to Frank1940 for shifting my attention away from the server and to other pieces of the puzzle!
  17. The diagnostic that I posted should only be a few minutes long. I rebooted the server, then induced the failure and ran diagnostics. I just induced the failure again to try the troubleshooting suggestions. Tried from another W10 computer and could not access shares, telnet or http Tried http from an android phone (just to rule out windoze), no response. Rebooted the W10 computer that I was copying to. No change Cycled power on my router. No change Cycled power on my switch. Now I can access telnet and http but no shares. (Same that sometimes happens if I just disconnect and re-connect the network cable at the server) Rebooted server and all services including shares are back.
  18. Unraid 6.2.4 This issue seems to have cropped up since 6.2, but I can't be sure because I rarely copy from my server. I can copy files to my unraid server, but if I try to copy files from the server, unraid seems to partially crash. The crash seems to be random, if I try to copy 20 GB, I may get 1GB, 10GB or even all of it before the shares disappear. I can also stream video from it with no problem for days on end between crashes with the same symptoms. I am copying to/from a Win10 machine. I can copy hundreds of GBs TO the server with absolutely zero issues. I have NEVER had this crash happen when copying to unraid. The symptoms are as follows: -the copy stalls -all shares disappear from windows explorer -server is unreachable by telnet and http -if I unplug the ethernet cable from the server and then plug it back in, the web UI and telnet sometimes come back, but the shares never come back when doing this. -I can do a clean powerdown from the local console -parity checks are clean -I have run extended smart tests on the drives with the files I'm trying to copy and they do not indicate any issues. I rebooted, caused the crash to happen and then ran diagnostics. I have attached the diagnostics file.
  19. I would like to store archival security camera footage to my unraid server, but I don't need it to be parity protected. I also don't want it to wear out my parity drive as old clips are constantly being copied to "cold" storage as they age out of "hot" storage that only holds a few days worth of video. I rarely review video in cold storage, so I don't really care about performance. I mainly want cheap, deep storage just in case I want to check something that happened weeks ago. I think I should use the Unassigned Devices plugin. Is this the best choice for my use case?
  20. I have a couple of security camera systems. One at my home and one at my parents home. Unraid would be a very poor choice for storage because of the slow speeds... It will record OK, but if you ever want to playback, it would be an incredibly frustrating experience. You don't playback security camera footage like a movie where you start it, then sit back and watch while it streams. You skip around, scan forwards and backwards and view multiple files at once. You really need fast random access locally to the DVR/analysis software. Opentoe, you seem to have a misconception about HikVision cameras... I don't know what models you are looking at, but Hikvision gear is usually very low priced. They are likely the largest manufacturer of security camera in the world and many other companies re-brand HikVision cameras (the Lorex and Swann cameras you see in US big box stores are usualy HikVision under the hood). It's just odd to see you talking about HikVision being too expensive vs VivoTek For the software, you can use the proprietary DVR software that you can get from VivoTek, HikVision, etc, or you can go third party if you want to mix and match brands of camera. I am using Blue Iris for my installations. I have VivoTek, HikVison, Acti, Axis, foscam Linksys and D-link cameras. Most of my cameras are the ~$100 HikVision DS-2CD2032-I You can buy them US Market from authorized resellers with warranty for ~$150 or you buy grey-market with English firmware off of Ali-express for $75 with no warranty. I go the no warranty route. http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=1791 This being a Linux oriented forum, I can't believe no-one have mentioned ZoneMinder yet.
  21. Do you risk duplicate files if you move /mnt/diskX/directory to /mnt/diskY/directory ? I just moved about 2TB (using mc F6) and don't see any dupes, but don't know if this is OK or if I haven't found the dupes yet....
  22. I use them. Without them, you get pauses when starting media that is on a spun down drive and sometimes a pause or stutter on playing media if another user causes a drive to spin up. The users don't care that the hard drive controller isn't configured optimally or that Windoze sucks, all they know is that they are sitting there watching a spinning icon when the media should be playing. An option to spin up all drives together would be fine, but totally eliminating the feature would be a major degradation of the user experience IMO.
  23. That's his opinion... Granted, it should carry more weight than mine here, but I'm not convinced. Personally, the only time I have lost data with UnRAID was when I had a failing data disk and did a correcting parity check... So in my anecdotal experience, it is very ill-advised to blindly run a correcting parity check without having a solid reason to expect corrupted parity but not corrupted data. I don't experiment with virtualization, plugins, etc. My UnRAID server sits in the basement on a big UPS and just serves files. It only gets tinkered with when I add a disk or there is a new stable release, so uptime has historically been very, very, VERY long Barring a bug in UnRAID itself, there should not be any interrupted writes!
  24. Cache Dirs I wonder how many people have tried UnRAID and ditched it because of how sluggish it is without Cache Dirs. I nearly bailed when I first tried it because browsing it was so painful compared to the Windoze network shares I had been using before.
  25. Definitely not a bug because it works as designed. Just a suggestion to make the UI more intuitive.
