Can I upgrade my basic to whatever the highest possible legacy license was, without losing updates?

Yes.

Will there ever be different updates for both legacy license holders and these new license holders? That is, will I miss out on some kind of updates in the future as a legacy user?

No.

you can still upgrade your legacy license as of this post, even though the deadline has long past. i just upgraded 1 basic and 2 plus licenses to Pro. same pricing as back in march. plus to pro was $69 (nice)

The deadline was for new purchases of the old type licenses, there is no such deadline for updates to existing legacy licenses.

So, is there no upgrade path from Plus to Lifetime?

Plus to Pro is what you're after. Pro and Lifetime are basically the same thing except old/new name.

The CyberMonday deals are out, I don't think something more will be added.

this didn't really answer either of my questions. the deals only mention the new names, not the old pro/plus.

If you didn't see it, they aren't there.

As LT has moved on to a different marketing model, I would expect we will never see any deals on pro/plus.

I already have a Plus license. I was told we can upgrade to Pro anytime and it will effectively be same as Lifetime (new name now). But I don't see how to do that, and want to know if there are discounts.

On your Server, where your Plus license is running on, Tools -> Registration and then click "Upgrade Key"

And no, there are no discounts.

I have "Basic" and "Lifetime Updates".  So, am I good here without upgrading, if I'm not adding a bunch of hard drives?  Like, unlimited updates even after the license changes?

I think that's what I'm seeing, right?  I currently can have 6 devices and get unlimited lifetime updates?

Correct. The only thing that changes in about two weeks (this thread is 1+ year old) is the price for upgrading the legacy licenses (that have lifetime updates) to higher tiers.

Hi,

would like to make sure I understand well because it sounds weird...

I currently have one array with 6 disks (5 data , 1 parity) => $49 licence applies

would it really costs $60 more (i.e. more than twice) just to add caching ?!!!

(or can I have 1 parity + 1 cache + 5 data disks in a $49 license) ?

if you exeed the 6 drives, yes.

so its NOT about caching, its about devices .... however you use them.

if you have > 6 devices ... yes, licence upgrade is ...

This has always been the case, it's not related to the new license scheme.
