January 15, 200917 yr Author The slimserver appears to be caused by how unRAID handles the /etc/passwd file when you create users in the web interface. Either unRAID saves the passwd file to the flash (so it can survive reboot) and copies it back, or it is writing the extra users to the end of the passwd file on each reboot.... but only does it if you create users inside the unRAID web interface. I'll have to think on this overnight.
January 15, 200917 yr Bubba: ...and don't forget the other issues! My infamous recap: -1- rTorrent/wTorrent issue with non-starting (just some!) torrents (...that DO start after removing and re-adding them and DO start after simple reboots; only get messed after upgrades). Any new ideas? Last time you asked about a symlink for the rc and I replied (that at least mine wasn't - now it is). What we do with this? -2- Slimserver. Doesn't install. Slimserver user missing. We are making progress here, but if you see my last email seems it is not just an issue of the missing user. -3- BubbRAID upgrade. Download finishes, but never starts the upgrade (at least in .13 to .14). prostuff1: I am using a pretty normal hosted mail service (whatever mailserver my domain host uses - never bothered to ask them which but I can ask if you want, they are friends). pjp999: I would suggest you (and everybody else) waits before upgrading (and we are in .14 not .13 now). Don't get carried away by the bigger version number. Except if someone can actively help bubba debuging the thing. (although I am pretty sure he is... congested enough with my mails)
January 16, 200917 yr I remember having a problem with slimserver with the old 4.3 release. I think I fixed it by creating a slimserver user in unRAID before installing, but to be honest I don't remember for sure ...
January 16, 200917 yr @bubba FYI, The update function in .12 didn't do anything for me. I had to download .13 manually. Sidenote: After upgrading to .13 I got a "boot error" when starting my system. I disabled bubbaRAID and still got a "boot error". I rolled back to basic unRAID and it booted fine. I'm not sure what happened. I will try a clean install of .13 and see what happens.
January 16, 200917 yr well better not as I said above .13 is NOT the latest (in fact right now not even .14) just wait a bit, people
January 16, 200917 yr Author New version of BubbaRaid version 0.0.16 is now available. Link is in OP. This version: - adds the slimserver user "on the fly" whenever slimserver is launched - improves slimserver download/install script - SoftSqueeze is there. Follow the instructions on the softsqueexe web site - improves the slimserver startup and stop scripts - the "Check for upgrade" process built into BubbaRaid was improved - s2ram is now included Now s2ram is fraught with peril.... you may hang your machine requiring a hard power-off reboot. So before you play with s2ram, STOP THE ARRAY. It is also worth noting, BubbaRaid is still in BETA... that means "not ready for production" or anything close to it. Test and use it on a test system, and not something with important data.

I'll guinea pig s2RAM. I will make sure to stop the array before hand..but on the off chance it doesn't get stopped is it safe to assume based on that warning there is chance for data corruption?
January 16, 200917 yr Author There is a chance of anything... hell, there is a "chance" Elvis is still alive.
January 16, 200917 yr There is a chance of anything... hell, there is a "chance" Elvis is still alive. I saw EvilElvis posting on the XBMC forums...he might know something about that. I'll post my s2RAM results when I get a chance to try it out later. That is, if you or anyone else is interested in it.
January 16, 200917 yr After much debugging, seems slimserver works. Now can someone tell me why: - When it asked where is my music, in /mnt all the user directories AND disk1 where missing? - When it went to the main interface, it reports... 19 songs!? (I have about 40000) ...doesn't just scan "raw" every mp3 in the folder (inc. subfolders) I selected?

I had to chmod 777 my entire music folder to get access to my mp3 and acc files.
January 17, 200917 yr OK, so unraid_notify is working, for some reason the mail program i am using stopped updating that account. Trying to figure it out right now.
January 17, 200917 yr I am assuming BubbaRaid .11 needs to be installed on top of UnRaid 4.4.2 You might want to put something about that in the first post!! I will be updating to UnRaid 4.4.2 and BubbaRaid .11 tonight and i will let you know what happens! I'd like to echo this. I've not been tracking this thread closely due to being out of town etc. and recently noted the updates. However I had to read backwards multiple pages before I found this post indicating, I think, what version of unRAID to run underneath. Previously it was an older version of unRAID so I'd not been able to try this out but it looks like you've caught up and maybe even passed me on versions. So, please could the expected version of unRAID be placed on the first post as you move forward? I am pretty excited at the prospects of trying this out! P.S. Thanks for all of the hard work you are putting into this BubbaQ! While I've not yet tried it out I appreciate the efforts you've put into this as you've extended the functionality of the unRAID a great deal. If I can manage to stop having to run uTorrent on one of my desktops I'll be VERY happy
January 17, 200917 yr oh you will I am happy with the status of .17 (many changes done since bubba's last post) - but install script was messed up so until Bubba verifies it's fixed, better not try it. I think he will do it soon except if he is preparing any other surprise.
January 17, 200917 yr Author Version 0.0.18 is now posted. Thanks much to NLS for helping me debug it. - Online update (via the "upgrade" link on the BubbaRaid portal home page) is working well now. - Torrents seem to be working properly now. (finally) - Slimserver install is streamlined... you can just reinstall slimserver over the top of existing slimserver install and it should see your existing config and databases. - Now has the powerdown and ctrl-alt-delete hooks installed. Link for new installs is in the OP, but if you already have BubbaRaid 0.0.12 or later, you can use the "check for upgrade" link on the BubbaRaid portal home page (top right corner ... under Tux)

January 17, 200917 yr Well it's to the left of Tux on my machine I know your (correct) decision is to first make it bug free and feature full and THEN make it nice and clean, but it's really easy to add direct links on your main page for: - wtorrent: http://<server>/wtorrent/ - nzbget: http://<server>/nzbget/ - Squeezeserver: http://<server>:9000/ - Softsqueeze applet: http://<server>:9000/html/softsqueeze/applet.html (fails for me - not your fault) - Softsqueeze direct: http://<server>:9000/html/softsqueeze/softsqueeze.jnlp (works nicely) (prefer direct IP links as they are safer to work with) ...this way you will not make people go through the config screens when they actually want to USE a service. Sure, anybody can make direct links even on their desktops or favourites, but it's really 3 minutes of your time. (now going to fight in some squeezecenter forum on how to get greek filenames to get read correctly)
January 17, 200917 yr I can't speak for BubbaQ, but the version requirements have been posted in the BubbaRAID section of the UnRAID Add Ons wiki page. ...still I think people are correct, since bubba edits the first post, why not include the required unRAID version (and he does now).
January 17, 200917 yr - Now has the powerdown and ctrl-alt-delete hooks installed. What exactly does this mean? A safe power down when pressing the power button on the pc?
January 17, 200917 yr Author What exactly does this mean? A safe power down when pressing the power button on the pc? No. It means the script command "powerdown" is installed to safely powerdown an unRAID box, with some mods to take care of BubbaRaid apps. In addition, if you press "ctrl-alt-delete" it will initiate a safe(er) powerdown of unRAID. I could not get a safe shutdown using the power button on either of my two test systems... so I'm not implementing it.
January 18, 200917 yr Would just like to chime in and say thank you BubbaQ for all the hard work you have done. This "addon" (if you can call it that) is truly shaping up to be great. The apps that you have included are great and getting better with every release. The download link from within BubbaRaid worked great this time and it made it supper simple to upgrade the system. That in itself saves me a lot of time. I don't have to worry about taking out the flash and updating the stuff myself. 1. The torrent app is great and i use it all the time. It has made it so that i can download files and be ready when i get home. 2. unraid_notify is great and now that i have figured out my gmail problems I am getting my scheduled e-mails about my server. 3. I have started to look into getting a APC UPS for the computer so that I am safe is something does happen. On that note, Do you have any suggestions on how powerful of a UPS i should get. The only thing plugged into this will be the computer. That has a 550W powersupply in it. There are currently 6 drives in the computer and i plan to add more, will probably max the machine out when possible. I really only need it to last long enough to execute the control-alt-delete shutdown. 4. Slimserver works great for streaming music to the computers at work. I can have access to all of my music while away.
January 18, 200917 yr 3. You are really fine with almost the smallest out there. Your PSU will never peak it's 550W. If you get a small ~500VA APC (they are expensive after all), you are fine for a few minutes. I have on a 1KVA: Three computers, two of them have more than 500W PSU (don't remember exactly) and the third has a 1KW PSU (! gaming rig). along with switch, router, speakers, monitor and few other small things and I am fine even when I switch them all on! My APC starts crying when something really needs to use my second 8800GTX on my gaming rig (using just one is fine - 5/5 LED load but fine).
