Just wanted to post to say thanks to Linuxerver.io for yet another great docker.

I was inspired last week by this post https://www.linuxserver.io/2017/01/17/how-the-unifi-ap-ac-lite-rekindled-my-love-of-wireless-networking/ and my similar wi-fi problems to buy 2x UniFi AP AC Pros - one's downstairs and the other is connected via wireless uplink for my unRAID up in the loft, where I can't get currently get a wire to.  Even via uplink, I'm getting amazing speeds and the controller experience is brilliant.

Yet another thing my unRAID server is taking on without breaking a sweat!

Wait.

Off topic slightly, but I have an AC Lite and a couple of old UAPs.  I have been posting about wireless uplink on the UBNT forums for YEARS (ie, ap downstairs wired, ap upstairs with a host connected to it to get network access).  They said the feature was never coming, or I was told it flat out wouldn't support it.  I ended up with a Nano in my garage, which does what I need, albeit slowly.

Do the AC Pros now support uplink????

I'd like to add this docker as I am constantly going back and forth between my laptop and desktop to manage my APs, and I end up re-doing the entire configs every darn time.

Probably. I have a couple AP-LR's that work just fine with uplink. I have a switch plugged into the uplinked unit's lan port, and it feeds several devices just like they were on my local switch.

What are the speeds/loss of throughput on the second AP?  UBNT says 50% reduction in speed, and I've read it adds massive latency.

Thanks.

Thanks.

If it was 50% i never noticed the loss and my WiFi was still excellent.  I was expecting it to be bad as you always read repeaters are bad, but it worked fine for me.  Both are actually wired now though as i found an easy way to run some temporary cables in the place we are renting for a while.

I just installed this docker but when I tried to access the UI https://tower IP:8443 it doesn't load. no error or warning logs as well.

Post your docker run command, link in my sig.

Ah I guess that was due to the os update..thanks. as for docker itself, do we have to configure anything else? For some reason the UI is unable to find the ap even though they are linked by a switch.

Look here.  First page of this thread.

One last question, do bear with me. The current version is 5.4.11, which is more than 2 weeks old. Their release schedule is an update every week it seems Will you guys be updating it weekly?

All our images are refreshed weekly and any updates will then be in the image. There are numerous question about this in this thread...

If you look at the download link here, I think you'll see it actually is 5.4.11

Ah. I think they don't update the main page as fast as they do in the forums. 5.4.14 is already released.

maybe an option to always be on the bleeding stable would be great

Like @saarg said.  If you read through this thread, this has been extensively discussed.  We grab the install from the Ubuntu PPA, and despite me having asked people several times in the IRC channel, nobody has ever been able to state a compelling reason why they've needed urgent access to the very latest release on any occasion.

What feature does 5.4.14 have that you need?

It's never too bad to have an option to get the latest version. Don't get me wrong I'm not demanding it to be done just that I just wished it would be nice to have an option. But I also understand it's not possible to do it because they don't push the latest stable down to the channels until after two weeks (unless you scrapped the blog). As for why it's good to have the latest (.14): Various security improvements

My apologies if I stirred something here.

It's not that you stirred anything.  But we have a lot of containers, and everybody wants the convenience of running via a docker, but the ability to run the very latest commit.  So we get a little jaded with the same request all the while, don't take it personally.

There's a compromise to be made and we run the latest stable that Unifi push to their Ubuntu PPA.  As mentioned here.

If people really want to be on the bleeding edge then I'd suggest running in a VM.  Don't forget, there was a recent rollback of Unifi when it actually broke stuff, and that even managed to make it through to "stable" I would hope that Unifi themselves would push any critical security fixes through to stable though rather than hold them back for a couple of weeks.

I totally understand from your point of view and agree that sometimes it's not good to have the latest as well. Indeed it seems like the current setup is the best compromise here. I too hope that ubiquiti would push for faster security fixes.

Thank you guys for the containers and continued updates :)
