Hi Guys. I thought it would be fun to setup a windows 98 VM but do it with some native hardware from the 90s  passed through to make it authentic! In this video, you will see how to setup windows 98 as a KVM/qemu VM in unRAID. You will see how to run it with or without passed through hardware.

Tomorrow i will upload the windows 95 guide as well.

Cool how did you get on. Did you pass any hardware?

No, no hardware. I don't have anything old enough! But running some games has been fun. I've been tempted to find games I use to play years ago....

im trying to follow the video  but there are no vdisks to download that win98 is already installed..  did you make a video that shows how to start from scratch making a win98 install  as I installing win98  on a 15gb setup...  I do windows setup choose the for larger disks.. it installs takes a long time even though its on a SSD  and then reboots but cant boot up   or it halts at 60%

do you have documentation  how to setup win98 from a fresh install    I tried RAW and qcow2  as vdisk   but its not working I cant install it

Is anyone running a W98 VM? I have a compatible NVS-440 Quadro, CMI8738 Sound Card, but USB may be an issue as W98 only supports USB2 with drivers, some patchy reports of ONE USB3 card working

@SpaceInvaderOne has a win98 running with old graphics card. But to get old cards to work you need tweaks to XML on newer Unraid vers. We have added support for overrides in the next release.

<qemu:override>

<qemu:device alias='hostdev0'>

<qemu:frontend>

<qemu:property name='x-vga' type='bool' value='true'/>

</qemu:frontend>

</qemu:device>

</qemu:override>

Also he has
