Would it be possible to implement SR-IOV into Unraid? I specifically want it for SMB Direct, but there are other applications for it like using a single gpu for multiple vms.

I didn't want to bump a thread that has been dormant for a while, then it turns out I didn't have to. Haha.

 

With the 3080 having more info about it, it sounds like it is very well within the realm of possibility that we will see SR-IOV support on the 30-series.

 

I don't know if it works unofficially or not, but I would LOVE to see some official support for this feature.

Now would be the time to include it!  You can buy used AMD FirePro™ S7150 x2 for cheap on ebay now.  Would be a great addition for us that want multiple VM's but don't have the space in our cases.

So I'm wondering, since there has been no response from anyone at Limetech, is this something that would be viable for the future?

With Linux projects like LookingGlass picking up traction and waiting for hardware vendors to catch up, I'm optimistic about it.

 

I'm hoping to use SR-IOV one day in Unraid, or another platform for VM use.

Is this even a possibility in Unraid?
