October 28, 201015 yr Can you let us know when you find a $19.99 dual-core Socket 775 CPU and a pair of DDR3 RAM strips for $19.00 too? (I can dream, can't I)
October 28, 201015 yr great... now what do I do? do I keep going with the board I already have which is a 780G AMD board with a sepron processor, or buy a new proc and ram for about $70 and use this board... decisions, decisions.. How do these sound? October 28, 201015 yr WOW insomnia FTW tonight!!! I'm in for one too at $20. Gives me a good excuse to order that non-blue LED case fan I need too Wow! let me see, it is still Oct, we are in Black Friday sale already?

Intel Celeron E3300 Wolfdale 2.5GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116264 This CPU is 35W instead of 65W ... so less power consumption. unraid doesn't require a beefy CPU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116039
October 28, 201015 yr Well, I just got my first unRAID server up and running with the M4A785-M & Sempron140, I only have 2 drives in it, but I cannot pass up this deal

It might be the better choice for some users. (more power ... consumed AND for add-ons.)
October 28, 201015 yr WOW! Don't need it but also couldn't pass up a deal like that. Same here...I just barely put my X8SIL-F in my 4220 last night and just ordered one because. Guess I'm already working towards my second unraid box!
October 28, 201015 yr Mine just shipped. I can use it too due to some possible severe compatibility issues I'm having... at minimum it'll help me test.
October 28, 201015 yr Like everyone here, couldn't pass up the deal. Running an Intel BOXDG43NB, and it is going like a champ, but I might put the Intel to use elsewhere now.
October 28, 201015 yr Sheesh. What a deal. I think I might jump on this as well, and maybe use my existing gear for a second HTPC. I'm using a WDTV Live in the bedroom, but it would be great to have XBMC in there instead.
October 28, 201015 yr Author Since the E3300 is a 45nm part and the 430 is a 65nm part I suspect the idle power consumption for both parts to be very similar. The greater processor headroom is what you are buying. I measured 31 watts at the wall for a C2SEA with a E3200 with unRAID booted with no drives attached and no cards plugged in. This was with a 80+ power supply, so probably about 65% efficiency at that low of an output. Thus the processor and motherboard were consuming about 20 watts. Add any load and the E3200 incremental efficiency will be better than the 430. I wish I had a 430 to test under identical conditions, but I'm not quite curious enough to see who wins the efficiency battle and by how much. I can't imagine the difference is more than 3 or 4 watts.

May as well get one with dual cores and more horsepower for a few dollars more... especially if the power draw is similar between these CPUs.
October 28, 201015 yr I'm astounded that this actually worked. I was sure that it was a mistake that would be corrected...but I'm glad it isn't!
October 28, 201015 yr What the hell... I am in for one also... Don't need nor particulary want one right now, but for 20 shipped I could not resist. I will probably leave it sit for a while as a backup and when i start expanding my server I will probably use it.
October 28, 201015 yr Oh wow, cheaper than some <For Parts> motherboards on Ebay. In for one, just need to find a good DDR3 memory deal now.
October 28, 201015 yr Looks like we'll all be using the exact same mobo pretty soon... I wonder if Tom caught wind of this deal...or if he's given up on building hardware altogether.
October 28, 201015 yr I'm not likely to replace my TinyTen with this board anytime soon. But I couldn't pass it up. I have a Celeron D 430 and a Celeron D 420 not in use so ram is all I need. This will make the first full ATX board I've owned in 10 years so I'll eventually have to get a case. Hey Raj, now this is a budget case alternative.
