  • Basically you remove UMASK, PUID and PGID variables and change the the variable for the backup to point to "/backups" (container path) and the appdata to "/var/urbackup" (container path).

Excuse my advance ignorance. There are two UrBackup dockers.

The original I reckon "UrBackup" and this version "binhex-urbackup."

The first time I installed the original version I didn't pay attention to the logs so I likely did not see the errors below:

--2025-12-03 10:30:34: ERROR: No permission to access "/backups/urbackup_tmp_files"

--2025-12-03 10:30:34: Image mounting disabled: TEST FAILED: guestmount is missing (libguestfs-tools)

Testing for btrfs...

TEST FAILED: Creating test btrfs subvolume failed

Testing for zfs...

TEST FAILED: Dataset is not set via /etc/urbackup/dataset

I have tried to figure out the first error about tmp files and it seems to be some permission error.

With that being said, would life be easier with installing the "binhex-urbackup" and what is the difference in the two dockers? This answer would help this noob here better understand the 'flavors' I am seeing in the 'app community.'

Simple \ dumb question. How do you stop the Client running on Unraid so you can update it?

I thought it would be the following, but that don't work.

sudo systemctl stop urbackupclientbackend.service

TF=$(mktemp) && wget "https://hndl.urbackup.org/Client/2.5.29/UrBackup%20Client%20Linux%202.5.29.sh" -O $TF && sudo sh $TF; rm -f $TF

I then find there is no systemctl, any hints? I'm trying to manually update the client as obviously need to stop it before I update it.

Tried to just run the script as it is, but server does not show any change of client version.

Hi,

Is there a log rotation configuration available somewhere, or a way to change the log path for this Urbackup container, please?

I've just noticed that my urbackup.log file is 4.4GB in size and when this is backed up every night by the appdata backup plugin it's taking up quite some space in copies!

Thanks

I cannot see any log rotation function in urbackup, so i guess not, can you not exclude certain files/folders in the backup plugin? (i dont know as i dont use it).
