I could try and upgrade to 7, are you thinking a newer kernel (presumably) may help?

I only can tell you that the friend of mine is using his card on Unraid 7, granted it is a dual tuner card.

Did you yet try the LibreELEC drivers if they are working?

I tried LibreELEC but they don't find my card.

At some point in the past, did this plugin have another option for TBS cards, eg. closed source ?

Nope, only the TBS option which was always in place.

Are you also sure that everything is wired up correctly?

Does this card need external power?

Is the wiring good?

Are you sure that you are using the correct mode (see first page from this thread).

EDIT: I did a quick sanity check and the TBS driver for Unraid 6.12.13 was downloaded 151 times so far and I assume if someone else would have had this issue they would have most definitely reported that here (for Unraid 7 beta.4 the TBS driver was downloaded 15 times so far).

OK thanks.

Yes everything is wired correctly, I tried with external power also (although never needed it before), I have tried the mxl58x.mode but that doesn't apply to this card and didn't help.

I physically checked my card and it has two ISL6422B chips onboard, I am thinking due to those kernel messages that they are not being driven correctly and producing any output to the LNBs (as per my multimeter testing):

28.494167] DVB: Unable to find symbol isl6422_attach()

I found this thread that I don't totally understand but it does seem to imply there is an issue caused by newer kernels https://github.com/ljalves/linux_media/issues/143 , it points to https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media/pull/361

Maybe the other users who have downloaded this plugin don't have a DVB-S card with this chip?

Please always refer to this repository since I compile from there: https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media

(this is the official repository and I don't change anything and compile it strictly like they recommend it).

Maybe try to create an issue there if you have time.

Did you read my previous post?

How often do you compile from there?

When the Unraid version is release (most likely this was before the PR was merged), I can build a updated release for you but it will take me some time since I'm just heading out for the day.

I'll let you know when it's ready and how to install it. :)

Hi, thanks very much!

Please don't put yourself out on my behalf, whenever you have time, it is much appreciated 🙂

I just took a quick look at the code and I triggered a autobuild which basically means the package will be available shortly. I'll let you know what to do in a few minutes what to do.

@fireplex build is now done for 6.12.13, please do the following:

  1. Remove the DVB Driver plugin
  2. Pull a fresh copy from the DVB Driver plugin from the CA App
  3. Go to the plugin page and make sure that you select/download the TBS OS driver package
  4. Reboot

The new build for 7.0.0-beta.4 will take a few additional minutes (about 10 to be precise).

You sir are a star!!

Thanks so much for the assistance, my card lives again 😀

Hey! Just a quick question. I am setting up a TBS6981 DVB-S2 card, which I believe should have Unicable functionality.

I have the DVB Driver plugin installed, am using the TBS-OpenSource option, and have entered mxl58x.mode=2 in the syslinux configuration.

Is there any way I can double check/confirm that the TBS6981 card is actually in Unicable mode and working correctly? (I don't have the satellite cables run yet, so cannot check signal etc.).

This is what I see in the TVHeadend TV Adapters section.

Thanks!

Please post your Diagnostics.

Do you have issues in TVHeadend? TBH, I never configured Unicabel but a few people reported that it works as intended with DigitalDevices cards and TVHeadend.

Sure thing, Diagnostics attached :)

I am actually still just setting things up, so I haven't actually connected any signal sources, so I cannot say for sure if TVHeadend is working correctly. From what I can tell, everything looks good though.

Just wanted to double check if the 'Unicable' mode of the card could be confirmed somehow but it's no big deal really, I am happy to see the card recognised at all as it's pretty old!

Oh wait, IIRC you only need to pass over the command line option when you have a specific card I think it was a 4 Tuner card.

You should be still be able to specify your Unicable bands in TVH.

Maybe @alturismo can help since I only have DVB-C over here.

you would have to change the setup of the tuner to unicable also in the tvh settings, currently its only regular ...

but i wonder a little, no word about unicable support atleast here

but, without wiring you cant figure out if its working or not anyway ;)

I want to buy a twin tuner for dvb s2. Before buying I tried to check, which one is compatible with the drivers. Do you have recommondations about a tuner ( best as pcie, but USB is also ok ) which i can use directly in Unraid with this drivers in Plex or tvheadend

( FYI: Using in germany )

I can recommend any Digital Devices Tuner, also TBS and if you are searching for something USB like Sundtek (all of these should be Unicable compatible BTW).

If you want to use them with Plex it would be best to read the recommended post on top of this thread since it is recommended to use TVHeadend and xTeve in combination with Plex.

Digital Devices: https://www.digital-devices.eu/TV-Karten/TV-Karte-DVB-SS2S2X/341/Digital-Devices-Max-M4-4x-Multi-Band-Tuner-TV-Karte

TBS: https://tbs-technology.de/shop/DVB-S2-S-Doppel-Tuner-PCIe-Satelliten-TV-Karte-LP-TBS-6902

Sundtek: https://shop.sundtek.com/DVB-S-S2-S2X/Sundtek-SkyTV-Ultimate-Dual-2x-DVB-S-S2-S2X.html

TVheadend and xTeve is okay for me. Ordered the TBS model, because of the Price and the connectivity over PCIE.

Thank you very much @ich777!

I managed to get it working on Linux Ubuntu 22.04 after following a guide

Unraid is not Ubuntu.

I've installed the developer's plugin and done the necessary updates

I don't understand what you mean with that.

Did you install tools to compile your driver or did you just install this plugin?

However, the tricky part is that every time I plug in the device, it doesn’t seem to recognize the necessary firmware.

Please post your Diagnostics from your Unraid server with the USB Tuner attached for further troubleshooting.

TBS 6982

This card works OOB with the TBS driver package which is available in the DVB Driver plugin <- I can tell for sure because I also had such a card and it was recognized and working just fine.

But I’m a bit nervous about potential driver issues, as I’ve heard it may require a more hands-on approach to get it working.

Please note that the goal from this plugin is to make installation as easy as possible for users on Unraid, you don't have to compile anything since the packages which are available in the plugin are basically packages with pre-compiled drivers to make installation as easy as downloading the package, reboot, done.

After reading that post not any more...

I had to tackle it manually because the device is not being recognised, but it seems like it wasn’t picking up the correct firmware also, which made it tricky for the USB tuner to be recognised also by TVHeadend.

I spent over a week working on this every night until around 3 AM! I tried forcing and reloading drivers, and I kept checking to make sure UNRAID was still seeing the USB device.

Why not report that in the support thread and get help from people and not a probably hallucinating AI.

Thanks so much for your patience!

Still no Diagnostics from your server with the USB Tuner attached, as said in my previous post, I can't help any further without them.

Any tips on getting this working with Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-S2 USB dongle?

I have one plugged in, and have installed the plugin and rebooted. I see it appearing under USB devices via the System Devices plugin, but there is no /dev/dvb file/folder.
