  1. I got lucky to secure an 2 X 4 TB server or 4 TB in Raid 1 for 27 Euro. Each action is different so the minimum price really depends if you go the action route. It is unlimited bandwidth up or down on a gig wire. SLA is only when server goes down and they need to bring it back up. Can't remember but is reasonable. If you move to a different or bigger server they will internally move the data for you at no cost. Is basically a server farm and you pay for a physical box and not a shared cloud environment. For that they have something called StorageBox which is a bit more expensive. I've been using it for few months and is rock solid. It runs Debian and I can do whatever I want with it, except hacking LOL. Is good stuff for sure.
  2. I give up on CrashPlan and I am not even sure if I can restore my stuff from them Pick up a server from Hetzner at their action and do it over rsync or the other backup applications. Speed is absolutely blazing. This is what I use now. https://www.hetzner.com/sb
  3. I will just drop it. I don't think anyone is malicious, purely a money game. Slippery slope at the end of the day. Smoking mirrors. And yes I come strong as I truly HATE the subscription game many plays. My level of trust is fully eroded with the entire software industry as a whole so I will leave it that. Looks like I already have to start looking at plan B as nothing good comes out of a subscription model. But that's just me and my own personal experience. Good luck with whatever you decide and I am sure it will work out for everyone.
  4. This is exactly what happened with Indigo Domotico automation software and I have a very very VERY bad taste in my mouth after that
  5. This is really hitting a string with me. - Yes some of us won't sign up and that equals loss of business. Money talk partner. I am not really happy that a member of limetch actually is telling us "if you don't like it, go somewhere else". And trust me WE WILL. Don't bite the hands that feeds you mate. - This absolute BS, that some users can't afford it, so what you will make it a subscription model at $11 a year LOL ?
  6. Yes I read it but my trust level is at all time low right now based on the other experience I had (not limetech). Sorry to be a debbie downer but things can and will change so quickly. Money TALK
  7. I absolutely HATE subscription model and I will drop UnRaid INSTANTLY if they go this route, full, stop, period. I rather go to FreeNAS which is free. I already got burned once with Indigo Domotico automation software and NEVER again, sorry. Customers of theirs for about 8 years and the whole license and the subscription model went to shit ripping me off of many $$$$. A subscription model is nothing else than a money scheme to milk more money outta of folks, simple as that. And that's where I stand. Sorry to be BLUNT
  8. Thanks much. I am sure we can continue learning from here so keep up the good work Sir
  9. Thanks much. I moved on already. Command line and scripting is king I tried several ways and didn't work well. Perhaps too much data, who knows. RAID-1 actually was not my operating system or the entire system. Is basically an 8TB drive that I used for a share named RAID-1. The high number of files was basically all video and pictures that I store there. I didn't hurt any unraid to operating system during this process Thanks again for responding Sir
  10. Perfect setup for unRaid or FreeNAS. Where should I price $$$ this entire setup? Make an offer for everything and I will cover the shipping. 11. Not following the question. Keep it away from what? I have 2 of them and they're next to each other about 2" in between them. Is that what you looking for?
  12. I call that silly You can at least do an orderly shutdown test, right ? Not just unplug from the grid and see what happens You know I made that mistake once, genuine mistake and both of my unraids went down, slam, cold The surprise was when they came back they both went through a parity check. OOPS. Never made that mistake again. I unplugged the wrong CABLES Such an idiot on my part.
  13. I have 2 of these CyberPower UPS's on both my unraid's and they work perfect, rock SOLID I even replaced batteries on one of them with after market and works perfect. Not sure where the horror stories come from? I do have a whole house surge protector and went through several surges and brown outs and all is SOLID on the computer side. I have all my computers and Unifi stuff going through these 2 UPS's
  14. This is exactly what I was looking for Thanks
  15. I am growing a bit depressed to see the state of some backup apps that I tried so far, unbaked, unreliable, down right scary. I don't mean to be a debbie downer on the hard work that is being put into it, but man I will be scared to trust my data with any of these solutions. So far I tried and failed: CrashPlan - I have a 4TB backup that I can't restore with the Unraid app. I am stuck CloudBerry - Horrible speed 2 - 4 Megs upload - I stoped testing due to lack of performance - over scp/ssh/sftp Duplicacy - Good speed / performance but unreliable restore. Various errors, annoying to even troubleshoot - over scp/ssh/sftp Duplicati - Good speed / performance but can't restore large 2TB backups - locked database - down right depressed and not willing to troubleshoot further - over scp/ssh/sftp I used ArQ with my Mac mini server and is rock solid, but it won't run on Unraid so I am stuck. Unless I mount the network shares and do it like that. Any suggestion on a rock solid reliable app that gives me performance and reliability? Why do you guys use? I need something that will work over scp/ssh/sftp Many thanks gents
  16. Thanks partner. No it wasn't mapped. I had to play with the path for source in settings and that fix it. I switched to /mnt/ and it works now. I never understand the file permission stuff. Does the "privileged" switch gives access to everything? How does it work?
  17. I get "duplicati Access to the path "/mnt/user" is denied." when I am trying to restore What am I missing on permissions?
  18. Well it looks like is time for me to DUMP Crashplan. Duplicacy and Hetzner will do the job, 1TB / 6 days is not too bad. My test is complete and I am switching over.
  19. And with Duplicity I got almost 40-60 so man what a difference between the various clients ?
  20. Yeah is clearly something with CloudBerry. I get 18 on Duplicati with encryption on.
  21. Thanks, No encryption is not enabled at all. Actually with Duplicati encryption is enabled and I still get 16MB/S I did try all these various settings and still no improvement. There is gotta be something I am missing
  22. I have configured both CloudBerry and Duplicati for backups to the same server via sftp. Of course I run and tested them one at the time and here is my puzzle to solve: With CloudBerry my upload speed stops at 4-6 MB/s where with Duplicati it goes all the way up to 16-18 MB/s. They both use the same server and same sftp protocol. I have 1G ISP but my dilemma is why CloudBerry can't match at least the Duplicati upload speed? Am I doing something wrong? CloudBerry speed bellow. Any custom settings I should change?
  23. On Unraid 6.8 you have to install libffi also. 6.9 you don't. That did the trick. MANY thanks partner
  24. BORG: is this normal? Installed version 1.1.3 root@NAS-UNRAID-BKP:~# borg Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib64/python3.8/site-packages/borg/archiver.py", line 41, in <module> from .archive import Archive, ArchiveChecker, ArchiveRecreater, Statistics, is_special File "/usr/lib64/python3.8/site-packages/borg/archive.py", line 20, in <module> from . import xattr File "/usr/lib64/python3.8/site-packages/borg/xattr.py", line 9, in <module> from ctypes import CDLL, create_string_buffer, c_ssize_t, c_size_t, c_char_p, c_int, c_uint32, get_errno File "/usr/lib64/python3.8/ctypes/__init__.py", line 7, in <module> from _ctypes import Union, Structure, Array ImportError: libffi.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
  25. Thanks partner.... Well I could find someone, but then is like setting up another box and dealing with support and all that, not like I don't have enough computers I am trying to simplify my life here Looks like is stuck at 4 megs up, full stop, period. BASTARDS. What good is my gigabit ISP if they can't take a decent upload speed.
