I would like to save space and convert my media to AV1 it is less than half the size, a 336mb movie clip file converted to 144mb, wow right! of HEVC and the next generation of codec. Is this really supported, I tested converting a file. Jellyfin is supposed to support AV1 but when I scanned the test file into my media library it doesnt appear. Is there anything I need to know about AV1 media and adding it to jellyfin, 10 .6 is supposed to support it but I cant locate the file in the menu anywhere after the library scan. How can I make it play the AV1 files? Is it even possible to play them?

I just changed the Muxing size and that setting is found in the playback section. thats all I did was increase the size and it was really amazing how it fixed the problem, I can play all my shows and movies now after increasing the size. It was a guess and it payed off. I can watch perfectly three streams of transcode now. I didn't change the quality but I see now what you meant when you directled me to that area. The pixellation was soo bad I am amazed that that one MUXING setting was responsible for it. Also the graphics card seems to be running at a lower cpu percentage drawn with the larger size and temperature of the card went down 2 degrees I dont know if thats related or not but it does look like the load on the 1050Ti is less with a higher Muxing setting. Anyone that is having big problems with pixelated playback should try to fix it by increasing their Muxing above 2048. Thats the default so you might need more size for smooth playback of files that are a higher bitrate. It worked for me and my server is transcoding like a million bucks now.

Thank you, you helped me, I read what you wrote about changing the transcode quality and it made me look at this particular setting, I took a guess and changed it from 2048 deffault to 4000 and the server is not pixelling anymore and the videos that were blobs of goo and pixels are now playing properly. What I changed was this setting here. SOLUTION.....SOLVED: Max muxing queue size: Maximum number of packets that can be buffered while waiting for all streams to initialize. Try to increase it if you still encounter "Too many packets buffered for output stream" error in ffmpeg logs. The recommended value is 2048. Plays perfectly now after I changed it to 4000.

I have no idea where those settings are. All know is that if I turn off HVEC encoding then it transcodes on CPU perfectly but it ramps up my cpu percentages and I want it to use the GPU for transcoding, but the GPU wont transcode some videos. what a mystery.

Yes I have tried alot of other browsers and its particular videos that wont transcode, I say about 50 percent of my library either does or doesnt, and its consistently that way that that particular video wont transcode properly. I have recently upgraded my CPU from ryzen 5 5600G and it had played well with that cpu and I upgraded to the Ryzen 7 5800X and I don't know if thats a coincidence but yes the transcode issue has started after that cpu was changed, normally I don't notice because I'm always using jellyfin media player which doesn't require transcoding from H.265 but now the blob https://cloud.serverteck.xyz/s/eRtSHTEW7oCrDjA sample is happening on certain but not all transcodes and I took this clip from the transcode folder in appdata. Hello, I recently have been transcoding my media to hevc and some of the higher bitrate files when they are playing during playback are extremely pixelated. I can play the files no problem the direct file and they play well on the tv and the computer only if I use the jellyfin app where it doesnt require transcoding. But the webpage chrome if I use it most of my video is globs of pixelated goo blobbing across the screen and the transcode folder in unraid where it keeps the files has pixelated videos in it. Why is this happening and should I convert the files back to h264? why are only some of them pixelated and others play fine, I noticed that the ones that have imbedded subtitles are worse and I am trying to get to the bottom of why I am having this issue, I was watcing the shows perfectly fine a month ago and it was in the webbrowser without pixellation. but now there is a pixel mess for a video and I cant get rid of the pixels. I have been transcoding into H.265 weekly with my 1050Ti and I haven't had these issues untill now and I haven't changed any settings, just some, probably half of the files I converted from H.264 to H.265 are pixelated while being transcoded. But I say again they playback fine while using direct play in the jellyfin mediaplayer. It would be nice to be a ble to transcode in the web browser as well I don't have any idea why it is not transcoding properly anymore. Jellyfin updated and thats the only thing that I can see that has changed. The solution is to increase the muxing que to 4000 and to increase transcode speed from medium to fast, slower speed brings better quality but is known to cause pixellation and distortion in playback of H264 and H265 HEVC. Set to fast transcoding speed in playback settings on jellyfin dashboard. If fast does not stop the pixellation then set to faster. The faster you set it to will reduce the quality of video playback so somewhere in the middle is ideal. Have you received misguided advice on how to accomplish something? Have you been guided in the wrong direction while diagnosing an issue? This topic is for anyone who wants to speak out whether its about unraid support or 3rd party app "for example sonarr" that runs on unraid whos support forum you received misguided information on. A forum that you tried to find help, but the advice you received did not solve the problem, or was completely wrong and you want to come here and speak up. So we can better identify who is on these forums that is giving improper advice and get better more knowledgable people. My first complaint is about third party software Sonarr's support forum where bakerboy448 told me not to use filebot with sonarr. He told me not to rename the files with their corresponding season episode names and I have had him personally give me bad misguided advice on numerous occasions.

I have been trying to get already downloaded episodes to import into Sonarr but I have discovered that some series the names of the episodes do not match the TVDB TV database for example the FBI series from 2018 onward shows here at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FBI_episodes. I added the FBI and the correct files downloaded but the wrong names are in the Sonarr database as to which season is matched to which name. For the record I use filebot to rename all my files and I always verify that it does change the names to the correct ones as per series and the TVDB. SO the issue here i believe lies in Sonarr where it gets its records of some TV series it is incorrect and therefor cannot import the downloaded series because they are the wrong names so how can it. This is a fresh install and reportedly some of the series will import and others wont because the names are wrong in Sonarr. Is there any solution, can I edit Sonarr to show the correct series name? is there a way to override and import anyways?

ok sure, but I think this would be the right place to ask about disabling the fast forward for some users, a mod perhaps Im willing to change the code inside to keep the old man from fast forwarding my discs all day long. here is my main drive I'm using, there are more of course but it is the only one with data so far. I am running Seagate 16TB HDD Exos X16 7200 RPM 512e/4Kn SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5-Inch Enterprise Hard Drive (ST16000NM001G) drives in my unraid server. They are durable but expensive and I want to disable and turn off fast forwarding or skip ahead feature in Jellyfin NVIDIA. The reason is kinda funny but it really bothers me that my father when I give him access to my server he doesn't play the videos normally like a person should, he fast forwards every few minutes and then fast forwards again and again till the movie ends. Then he goes on to the next movie and does the same darn thing. Its really bugging me because I know it does affect me in a negative way. <<MY question is, will this affect hard drive head life and reliability?>> Currently every component in my unraid server is brand new and I was wondering if it will affect reliability of my hard drives and create extra wear and tear if he consistently abuses the fast forward and I have asked him several times not to but he wont stop. The recent updates have all been good and no issues. I was unaware that I needed to remove the PATH TO AMD OR INTEL DEVICE. I removed it completely and I have had no more issues with transcoding media and the player is working perfectly now. I see that the docker instructions have been updated to show that the option needs to be removed if you have an NVIDIA graphics card. Thanks for that info it helped me. for those that are having issues with transcoding Jellyfin NVIDIA just remove the AMD INTEL click remove that option in docker during install. Also why transcode to begin with? modern tvs will play H265 without transcode my TCL 5 series smart tv never needed transcoding and as soon as I stopped using the chrome browser to play Jellyfin on my PC and started using Jellyfin media Player off Git Hub my transcoding days are over. I need some help, I installed my poste.io mailserver and when i installed it i could not reach the web interface with bridge or my poste custom network. it did however install with network custom eth0. but it has a different ip address than my server. example, this is not my real ip. EXAMPLE 192.168.0.218 and the poste interface is displaying 192.168.0.2. So there is no actual port displayed, i know that the port is 443, i think.... for web ui, Is this a problem that the ip address is different? it makes it harder for me to use nginx reverse proxy to make a proxy. when I do the subdomain name does not take me to poste.io. I am familiar with nginx i have used it on nextcloud, bitwarden and sonarr and deluge with success I dont have any idea why it wont work with Poste but the ip address isnt my server ip so mabye thats why. Hello my question is for the person who runs the nord vpn container. First I will talk about what I want Nord VPN for. I want to use it for torrenting and for internet traffic via mozilla Firefox and all the apps except I need there to be excluded apps that can use split tunnelling and be accessible by my real ip, such as next-cloud, bit-warden and the other apps tied to my domain name, so that they still work with the vpn on but I want my data encrypted through nords vpn, i don't really want to use specific vpn apps and i like the speed of nord vpn, I am wondering if I can configure certain apps to be under nord vpn and others to not be? I had no problem setting up the nord vpn but after I did nextcloud and some other apps wouldn't load and were no longer accessible via https://. Can I specify certain apps by their ports even? How do I set it up so at least nextcloud, sonarr and deluge web ui are working or how can i configure it so that my outgoing traffic is under the vpn and the inbound isnt?

You know you are right, I will go back and change that location after all. I apologise I have made a correction and adjustment to the topic "keep nextcloud from spinning up my hard disks" the first command I gave is not ideal and its not the best place to move the nextcloud log to, to stop the spinning needlessly. That location was somewhere inside the docker container and after an update it is null and void. I have made a new command and if anyone wants to try it then good for you. you will need to create the location manually in the appdata folder where I think is the best place for a log file since its normally on the cache drive. This works 100% and will have no ill effects on your system and it is the only way I found to stop persistent disc spinning due to the nextcloud log file being written to every 15 minutes. Here is the redo of my command: occ config:app:set admin_audit logfile --value=/mnt/user/appdata/stoparrayspinningnextcloud/nospin.log You can change it and name it whatever you like actually I just wrote mine like this so it makes sence to me. This 100% stopped my discs from spinning continiously its harmless and I noticed that the actual log doesnt get written to very often or at all but its just enough to change the location that solves the headache of replacing discs or having to store nextcloud data on an SSD and being limited for space. The command is to be pasted in the nextcloud console not the main cmd promt. Anyone who wants to try it be my guest, it worked for me really well and I imagine if I update nextcloud I will need to redo the command again so bear that in mind that you should probably save it to a text file in case you need to do it everytime it updates nextcloud. this I don't know yet as I just made the cmd today and so far its all good. No harm can come for changing a log file location you should recieve confirmation of the change of admin audit log right after u press enter and then u know it acepted the command. If you need to set new permissions for appdata first before u modify anything in there then u can do that from the "tools" "new permissions" just select the appdata and press start. This change I have observed no negative side effects towards nextcloud and everything seems to be completly risk free there are no consequinces for changing the log location.

I installed Bitwarden, it seems to be working fine. I can access my vault send emails and I added imported all my lastpass passwords into the app. My issue is that I cannot login to the chrome extention it did not recognise my account. The app for android phone will it work? Do we only have a "vault" to use with our private server? OR is there something I'm missing and I want to be able to login to the browser extention too. Is there a special version of the extention to install?

Update, I ran all the updates today, unnasigned devices Plugin, postgresql14, nextcloud and nothing broke. They did fix the previous issues with the updates crashing the app requiring deletion of the appdata folder and reinstall. I have not gotten an update from Nvidia Jellyfin yet but it is working fine since i last reinstalled it. Server has run fine with no updates for 6 days straight it ran Tdarr and went untill the power went out this afternoon resetting the timer. It would be nice to see a new development in the tv app to make custom themes for the TV instead of the same old background. I saw a utube video with ibracorp and he shows how to setup unmanic and install the 265 transcoder plugin. So I tried it on several 264 movie files I intended to shrink my whole library down. I realize that I will have to transcode everything I play after the conversion but when I tested the app on those movie files they all went from 1.8 GB to 25 GB. Is there a reason that its making the files bigger instead of smaller? I intended to save space, not because I'm running short of space or anything but because I thought i could shrink everything 50 percent and be able to stock up my media library with double the titles. Is there a better alternative to 265? should I just stay at 264 for less hp needed to play the files? Why would it make them so much bigger? I don't understand why they are all coming out 25 GB did I configure it wrong or is that the wrong plugin to use? I used the nvidia 265 transcoder plugin. I had to delete all the files and re download the torrents because the 3 I did were taking up to much space. Yes the installation of nextcloud with Redis, nginx, postgresql14 works beautifully until I update then I have to reinstall the database and get it to connect again, usually by completely deleting the nextcloud folder then copying its config back after. Which I backup almost daily. My server was expensive and i dont want to mess around so no more updates for me, mabye once every few months from here on out. Have a good look for yourself. ich777, the guy responsible. Hi, and binhex calm yourself. I am not meaning to be abusive but this constant updating is counterproductive. I set the updates to once a month in my settings, no point building up my server to have it broken down every few days with a new update. the containers wont run after. Thats frustrating to me, I spend many hours configuring things the custom way that I like them. This is not your average low end hardware its a special build to me. The cost was extreme all brand new parts so of course I'm going to get upset when its out of service from clicking update. Its not just you, the nextcloud update wont connect to the database after it updates i have to reinstall both nextcloud and postgresql14. All the other apps I use are fine after an update. Im backin up all the config folders so downtime is minimal but I was up all night last night before i got it to reinstalled because it opened and ran but screen was stuck at loading spiral with only some of my media library running after the update. I had to assign new permissions and completely delete the entire Jellyfin Nvidia folder in appdata before the new installation would work. The new installation I did just this morning has been scanning my media all day and still isnt finished. resulting in me doing this every few days and my drives never get to spin down. The only solution is to stop updating. I have a modest media collection of 1200 movies and several dozen complete tv series. I cant chose a different container because I just bought a nvidia 1050ti and this is the only container with the guid input to use it. the binhex container i used before this one and for the record it always worked even after updates, so calm down your container is all good. I tried everything to get the container to start during an install and im talking about what goes into that device field* I have been putting /dev/nvidia0 becuase it wont start with it cleared. it also wont start with the card guid number for the card in the field, I have the guid in the nvidia visible devices field already. it does work with /dev/dri and it works with nvidia-uvm but the processor load seems a few digits higher with that one. The instructions given are clearly to leave it blank and that simply won't work. It transcodes with /dev/nvidia0 but its still using 8-11% cpu which is low compared to the %75 cpu it was using before I put in the new 1050TI. I sympathis with you guys for not getting paid, that really sucks but I look around and I see software everywhere, not just your container that isn't functioning as it was decscribed to and I am in a battle to keep a brand new server running, everytime i turn around its always an update the program unraid offered that spoiled my work, I am battling it but I am getting frustrated with working full time to keep it running. I am spending 12 hours a day on unraid, whether its watching movies editing, adding to my media collection, I am building something great that alot of other people don't have I have super high expectations of the software, and only the best highest quality parts money could buy went into my build. Light 4 apps asked to update all at once and I was like ok I'll try it but omw I will never let them all upodate again. I'm not going to update them when they are working fine. The Nextcloud update the last one that came out was aweful, before the update I was getting 70-99mbs upload speeds and after I was only uploading at %17 to %60 sometimes %70 peak. Why did they mess with it when it was soo fast??? Took forever to upload at 60mbs hovering around 40 most of the time all over the place. I want 99mbs back!! BTW my server is a brand new beautiful glowing rgb monster. Its a work of art.

I hate whoever is doing the updates to jellyfin, whenever an update is released and it updates Jellyfin wont load anymore. Everytime I want to update I have to modify permissions and completely delete the appdata folder that contains jellyfin and reinstall it. Its soo often I get suckered into an update and it ruines everything, I had to turn off updates, they aren't really updates in my opinion, they are worse than malaware. An update is somone messing with the settings when its working fine leave it the F alone and stop trampling my server down. I don't want your updates. All they do is put my machine out of service and I cant watch any movies that evening. What kind of individual does this to me every few days? Thats really stupid. Thats one thing I hate about unraid is whos doing the updates. Leave Jellyfin Nvidia alone!!!!! Guide to installing Nextcloud to achieve the top performance. Get the absolute highest speeds out of upload and download. The GUI, everything works perfectly. This is the ONLY way to properly install it. You will need the following in order to install nextcloud professionally for commercial performance. One: First Get a Domain name from a paid service, create an “A” name pointing to your public ip address. Direct your main domain to your public ip. Create some other “A” names to be alternative names to reach Nextcloud. 1. Postgresql14 2. Redis 3. Nginxproxymanager 4. Nextcloud 1. Docker network create nextcloud Type it into into main page cmd prompt. Select this docker network for all 4 apps in nextcloud installation when you do the installs. 2. Install Postgresql14 create a database remember your username and password u created. If docker container doesn’t pull down properly and fails then change some ports if they are already in use. 3. Install nextcloud and setup admin account and enter database info to proceed with the installation. For trouble connecting make sure password is correct and use adminer to see if your database was created properly. If not then create one again. -This is done one of three ways. Done Write the command somewhere and save it because you will likely have to do it again after every nextcloud update to ensure we are not unnecessarily spinning our expensive drives for no reason, I've used the command a couple times, just after the recent update to be certain it sticks, but I don't know if it was a needed task or not. It seems to be working fantastic. I love my unraid system. It can be morphed and crafted and turned into anything I want or can imagine and Im doing it with unraid. My best advice is to always keep a copy of your flash config folder to a safe place for in case you ever cant boot you can just create another USB with the creator and drop in your config folder and all your settings are intact and perfect once again. IT writes to /var/log/nextcloud/audit.log now please read my entire instructions for installation of nextcloud to learn more about the perfect setup and its super fast. destroys google drive in every way. I have upload speeds of 99mbs often. You will never see upload speed and reliabilty like this anywhere else. I can't say I know where its written exactly I found the location with krusader so I know it exists and thats what Im using it for it works fantastic. Its the perfect location. Oh boy I have a treat for everyone here. See my next post please for Amazing Nextcloud performance via proper installation done by me, invented by me.

Try typing "server name".local where "land" is server name use "land.local" that should work, you should always be able to log in with .local then check your flash drive because this error can be caused by bad configuration of ssl certificate. you may need to reburn a flash drive and always copy your config folder so u have a backup and can fall back on your settings. go ahead copy it back onto the freshly burnt usb and good luck.

Further to update from my last post I have found a way to allow nextcloud to be located on the array while reducing disk spin, in fact they do not spin unless accessed. This is due to the file Nextcloud.log which nextcloud writes to regularly and it gets installed in the same place as the data container. This can be corrected with a very simple command into the nextcloud console and discs will spin down and stay down. I call it the logging fix Here is: occ config:app:set admin_audit logfile --value=/var/log/nextcloud/audit.logocc config:app:set admin_audit logfile --value=/var/log/nextcloud/audit.log paste this command into the console and it will correct the disk spinning annoyance. The Nextcloud.log will not be moved, it writes to a different log file instead. You don't need to worry about it anymore. I will do another topic on how to setup nextcloud properly so it gets average 40 mbs -70-80 mbs peak upload speed, next time I come on here. I will talk about how to configure a reverse proxy. I figured that one out the hard way, Nextcloud is super fast and efficient and its the best cloud storage I have ever seen when its configured properly. All the things I love about Unraid; Nextcloud is now one of them, but it took many weeks to figure out how to do it right. You need at least 3 other apps installed to do this setup. Total 4 apps to run Nextcloud, if you have only Nextcloud then no wonder you have poor performance. Nextcloud is faster than lightening when its fully set up right. I repeat, you can not get good performance out of Nextcloud with only Nextcloud installed, you need to install 3 other specific apps from the community. These complete the Nextcloud installation. I'll talk more about this later.

I have found that Nextcloud keeps the data share spun up all the time, if I spin it down it spins it right back up a few seconds later. The fact that nextcloud is designed to be run off cache and not the array is not known or spoken about in alot of these forums. I just want to say that my nextcloud is installed as it should be and my drives do not spin up and the reason is that I used the mover to move all the data and I have 118 GB only right now to the cache drives "three 1TB NVME" drives. Nextcloud data must be saved to the cache drives or this is normal for your disk or disks to be spun up due to smart check which runs almost continiously in this situation. I was able to move my data easily with the mover, just selected prefer cache and it took a few moments and then the hard drives spun down 15 min later and stayed down. In fact, speaking on the topic Appdata, docker, domains, isos share and system are all set to prefer systemfiles, "systemfiles is a particular name I granted to a 512GB m.2 that I use for all my data. The unraid is running off a usb, all the apps and docker run off their own 512gb ssd. I intentionally set things like this because I do not like the program running my discs, it makes me pretty peeved when they run for no reason. I have zero system errors in fix common problems but it took alot of investigation as to how things should be configured and one thing I will say is that you can do yourself a favour by having lots of cache i mean lots at least 3 tb and a 4th ssd for the system files to run on. I do not allow anything but stored data to save to my spinning discs. I will not tolerate them spinning for no reason with their great expense at $700 a drive. that is unnaceptable, I reinstalled unraid many times before I learned what I was doing wrong, it can be a real bear to troubleshoot. But I will say this, if your discs are staying spun up it is not from mapped drives available on your desktop, just mapping the shares will not make the discs spin constantly unless your antivirus is set to scan network shares, I switched this off and I scan these manually as needed. If your drives are spinning constantly then guaranteed your shares are not set properly and you have apps installed to the array, don't intall any apps to the array, the only things you should select a share that saves to the array for is when your selecting data container location for installations. This is the location a program like "jellyfin", where it would find your data and movie files. Nextcloud is the only app that keeps hard drives spun up continiously and the solution is here how to solve it, don't look for that log file thats not a true way to fix it, they dont know what they are talking about and I do. The only reasons your discs spin constantly is improperly planned installations and where your shares are saved, selecting prefer seems to be the best option over only it gives no error messages and all the data is moved eventually to the location you prefer. so select places there is an ssd. its quite simple to stop all the discs from spinning, again, alot of people need to simply delete the docker file, select the check mark and press delete, before you do that uninstall all your apps then delete the docker file and select the designated ssd for it thats the proper way to setup unraid docker. ssds are essential for it to run properly, without ssd all your drives will spin constantly wearing them out and p*ssing u off. Most of the stuff i read on the forums is crap and garbage and you should take it with a grain of salt there are alot of mor*ons on here making posts not naming anyone in particular but they just dont know how to configue anything properly to get the desired outcome. Read my typing when you see it and don't mess up your system following bad posts like I did in my learning process.
