  1. I first NAS is a QNAP that currently using. I started building my UNRAID server and was waiting till I get it fully set up and comfortable with it before I switch over. QNAP Seagate EXOS 18tb- Data drive Western Digital Blue 1 TB- cache drive UNRAID Western Digital RED 8TB Western Digital RED 4TB Western Digital RED 4TB Western Digital RED 4TB What are my options for redundant storage when I put the seagate drive in UNRAID?
  2. SOLVED Ultimately the issue was resolved. Problem was the fact that I had a CAT6 cable connecting two switches on my network. With several cables in the area where I keep these switches, I didn't realize that the cable was connecting the two switches.
  3. I verified my Mac MTU and Unraid are both set to 1500. Both were already set so no change.
  4. I also have a PC on the same network that is getting the same speeds with Unraid.
  5. I’ll try what you said. Are you saying my router and computer should have the same MTU set to 1500? Not sure if my router can can be set (AmpliFi Alien).
  6. @vr2gb This is what you requested. It’s connected to the 2.5g switch and plugged into the 10g NIC.
  7. Yesterday, I found a new motherboard Asus Z370-a and got the NIC working correctly. 2.5g switch doesn't have a 1g port but I do have a separate switch on the network that is 1g. It didn't make any difference on speeds when connected to either switch. But below is the result of "ethtool -k eth0". root@Tower:~# ethtool -k eth0 Features for eth0: rx-checksumming: on tx-checksumming: on tx-checksum-ipv4: off [fixed] tx-checksum-ip-generic: on tx-checksum-ipv6: off [fixed] tx-checksum-fcoe-crc: off [fixed] tx-checksum-sctp: on scatter-gather: on tx-scatter-gather: on tx-scatter-gather-fraglist: off [fixed] tcp-segmentation-offload: on tx-tcp-segmentation: on tx-tcp-ecn-segmentation: off [fixed] tx-tcp-mangleid-segmentation: off tx-tcp6-segmentation: on generic-segmentation-offload: on generic-receive-offload: on large-receive-offload: off rx-vlan-offload: on tx-vlan-offload: on ntuple-filters: off receive-hashing: on highdma: on [fixed] rx-vlan-filter: on vlan-challenged: off [fixed] tx-lockless: off [fixed] netns-local: off [fixed] tx-gso-robust: off [fixed] tx-fcoe-segmentation: off [fixed] tx-gre-segmentation: on tx-gre-csum-segmentation: on tx-ipxip4-segmentation: on tx-ipxip6-segmentation: on tx-udp_tnl-segmentation: on tx-udp_tnl-csum-segmentation: on tx-gso-partial: on tx-tunnel-remcsum-segmentation: off [fixed] tx-sctp-segmentation: off [fixed] tx-esp-segmentation: off [fixed] tx-udp-segmentation: on tx-gso-list: off [fixed] fcoe-mtu: off [fixed] tx-nocache-copy: off loopback: off [fixed] rx-fcs: off [fixed] rx-all: off tx-vlan-stag-hw-insert: off [fixed] rx-vlan-stag-hw-parse: off [fixed] rx-vlan-stag-filter: off [fixed] l2-fwd-offload: off hw-tc-offload: off esp-hw-offload: off [fixed] esp-tx-csum-hw-offload: off [fixed] rx-udp_tunnel-port-offload: on tls-hw-tx-offload: off [fixed] tls-hw-rx-offload: off [fixed] rx-gro-hw: off [fixed] tls-hw-record: off [fixed] rx-gro-list: off macsec-hw-offload: off [fixed] root@Tower:~#
  8. Disabling the MB worked. Thanks again
  9. Yesterday, I blocked off the bay that’s not currently being utilized to see if it made a difference and so far it seems to actually be making a difference. So I decided I’m going to try replacing the fan with a Noctua high pressure fan to see if that will get better air flow through the cage. I’m hopeful that it will work but I’ll post my findings when I get it.
  10. I will do this after work today. Thanks!
  11. I got a new 10 GIg NIC and I'm not sure how to configure Unraid to use the new NIC instead of the MB one. Currently, when Unraid starts with the NIC installed and connected to the network, it will say no IP assigned. I'm unable to get to the web UI via tower.local. Once I plug a second cable into the MB, I can navigate to the web UI. After that, I can unplug the the MB network cable and it works just fine. I want to use the add in card by default but I'm not sure what to change without making it unreachable.
  12. The whole system is sitting out in the open in a relatively small room. I have central air keeping the whole house at ~75f. The room also has a ceiling fan that I keep on as well. I’m just going to return it and maybe look into a DAS or other solution. This just isn’t working.
  13. I was going to post what @vr2gbasked for but I found Unraid unresponsive and looked at it again and found it just power cycling repeatedly. I'm pretty sure the board is faulty. It keeps happening again and again. I'm going to get new board and go from there.
  14. I have tried connecting it to the router directly, a 1GBE switch, 2.5GBE switch and now a 10GBE NIC. All result in the same speed of ~100mbps. I will post the results of what you asked shortly.
  15. The cage is in open air. i.e. not in a case. the The cage is unmodified exactly how I received it when purchased. After putting the drives in and noticing the high temps I put a fan case fan in front to assist with air flow. So it not has a push fan in from and an exhaust fan at the rear (original fan). With the additional fan, it keeps them cool but to me it was a waste of money. Can anyone tell me what "normal" temps are in other cages? I'm only concerned because Unraid is warning me. I don't know if Unraid default temp warning are realistic or not.
  16. Can someone recommend a different array that will cool them better? I had to put a fan on the front to keep them cool.
  17. That makes sense. It has a tray in the open slot but with no HDD in it I guess it still be true.
  18. I have 4 out the 5 bays filled with WD Red HDD's. I have a 5th drive but haven't installed it yet. When I installed the 4th drive, I decided to pre clear all the drives as I'm putting this together piece by piece. The system also doesn't have any data on it yet either. The reason I'm asking about these drives getting hot is because Unraid notifies me that they are getting hot. I'm not sure what the critical temperature is for HDD's but according to Unraid, they are hot. With fans on "HI" temps were around 40c which is acceptable but when fans are on "MED" or lower they are 48-49c. With the unit having a fan, I just thought I would wouldn't have to worry getting a high temp notification.
  19. I bought an Icy Dock 5 bay enclosure https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DWHLFMA?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image but now my drives are getting hot. It seems the fan on the back is flat against the PCB and there for not moving any air. Are there any other enclosures that don’t have this issue?
  20. I bought an Intel X520-DA1 10 Gigabit PCI-E E10G42BTDA and I don’t know which 10 Gig Ethernet adapter to buy. I’m mostly concerned with compatibility. I’ve been looking around and I see most specify which brands and I don’t see intel.
  21. Thank you! I figured this was the issue. A couple weeks ago I changed the m.2 bios setting from AHCI to optane to see if it would solve a different issue. When I noticed the drive missing I attempted to change it back but for some reason the setting won’t stick. I change it to back to AHCI then save and exit then go back in to verify and find it still says optane. I will look into it more over the weekend.
  22. I have 4 WD Red drives in my my setup currently. 1x 8TB and 3x 4TB. I’m looking to get an HBA but I read a lot of users use SAS controllers and I don’t know what hardware is required for this. Can a SAS controller be used in my setup? If so do I need to change any bios settings?
  23. It’s an NVME drIve. This is why I unplugged all the SATA drives to see if the MB was using those lanes for the SATA ports. Also when I go to the bios, should the m.2 be set to optane or m.2 genie?
  24. Today I got a new 8TB WD RED drive and an Icy Dock 5 Bay cage and I started a pre clear on the new drive and went to main tab to monitor the temps and while they are fine, I also noticed that my m.2 drive is no longer listed. It is indeed still installed but no listed. What gives? I shut it down and removed all the drive connections to see if that caused it but still not showing. I looked in the bios and with all drives connected, none are listed. Does anyone that knows more than me know what could cause this? All 5 spinning discs show in UNRAID but not the M.2 and none show in the bios. tower-diagnostics-20220119-2152.zip
