  1. These questions should be posed to the pfsense community. Driver support of pfsense is built by pfsense and not by Unraid.
  2. Having no network access has nothing to do with the Unraid Share / Mount tag boxes. Your issue lies somewhere else. I would suggest create a new template from scratch but pick the same vdisk (and CPU, RAM, etc.) and obviously nothing in Unraid Share / Mount tag boxes and see how it goes from there. If still not working: Tools -> Diagnostics -> attach zip file (preferably run this after you started your VM) Take screenshot of your VM GUI Attach your VM xml (if copy-paste, use the forum code button - the </> button next to the smiley button)
  3. rc7 is on 5.x kernel, rc8/9 is on 4.x kernel. Could be your problem if rc7 is fine and rc8/9 is not. If your hardware works well under rc7 then you are better off waiting for 6.9.0-rc1 (which LT has publicly announced that it will come out shortly after 6.8.0 stable is out). It is the same as 6.8.0 but with 5.x kernel. I'm holding out for that too.
  4. Sorry but you need to be clearer. What is "default pilot form Unraid"? Also, share your new xml please.
  5. Replace your drives with higher capacity and reduce your number of drives. One of the main advantage of Unraid is the ability to use mixed-size drives. That allows easy consolidation of storage over time i.e. you don't have to replace all your drives at once. And due to how HDD tends to fail (in a probabilistic fashion), having fewer drives reduces your risk of having more failed drives simultaneously than parity.
  6. Never say never. Ask your datacenter provided what happened on Dec 6 at 07:54:55. Even if nobody accidentally turns it off, your server (or server host) could have crashed - that counts as an unclean shutdown. Dec 6 07:54:55 Tower emhttpd: unclean shutdown detected
  7. Interesting. Would you mind share the xml please. Just curious where the diff is.
  8. Those are probably due to bad DIMM. You might want to remove one stick at a time and see which one causes the error to go away.
  9. I have seen server build with ASRock C236 WSI + low power Xeon CPU (can't remember which exact model now) + Noctua NH-L9i so perhaps consider that. The C236 WSI in particular has exactly 8 SATA ports. Be prepare having to buy additional low-profile cable stuff while building due to the low clearance.
  10. A few things: Try changing boot order of your Windows iso from 2 to 1 (and your vdisk from 1 to 2) to see if you can even boot into the iso itself. You also have VNC enable as well as a GPU. Are you able to connect to your VM using VNC?
  11. The Bytemybit channel had a test of transcoding comparing P2000 vs Ryzen 3970X and reported the P2000 can do up to 28 1080p streams. So if you don't need more than that, you shouldn't need a P4000. Of course, if you want to future proof (in a sense) your build e.g. if there are more 4k streams in the future then the P4000 would also be a good candidate. The P2000 is also quite popular among Unraid Nvidia users on the forum too due to the low price point and having no limit. I don't think 50mbps upload will be able to handle 20+ concurrent streams though.
  12. I just noticed you have this: <feature policy='disable' name='hypervisor'/> Any particular reason for that? HyperV can also help with performance so perhaps try removing that line. Failing that, maybe try the path to the disk from /mnt/user/domains/Windows/vdisk1.img to /mnt/disk1/domains/Windows/vdisk1.img That would bypass shfs and hopefully improve performance. Failing that, start a new template and pick Q35-4.0.1 as machine type. Other than that, I'm at lost as to what else could cause performance issue.
  13. I am not American and I can tell you it's cheap, especially considering it is a lifetime license (with free updates). The sterlings aren't that great due to that racists-driven nonsense called Brexit but FX volatility is something everyone is subjected to in any international transactions. Your local currencies volatility isn't really a reason to justify a discount. Otherwise, every time some politicians in any country decide to deceive the public and do something idiotic, the Unraid guys will then have to give a discount? They have to bring the bacon home too and their bacon is paid for in USD.
  14. From personal experience, I don't think 4U case has enough clearance for the NH-U12DX with its 158mm height. Even Notua said "Common 4U cases usually don’t provide sufficient clearance for tower coolers with 120mm fans and 158mm height." in the FAQ so I would say it is unlikely to work for you with the 4U case. The U12 has better cooling capacity than the U9 but only in overclocking. For non-overclock CPU's (e.g. Xeon), you can sleep well with the U9.
  15. Yes you can trim xfs. I trimmed my Unassigned and cache xfs disks all the time. It's xfs in the array that can't be trim cuz it's not mounted with discard.
  16. Did you map Plex appdata to /mnt/cache or /mnt/user?
  17. A few things that come to mind: Do you have Global C State Control turned off? If so, go to your BIOS and turn it back on. It is not required to be off for Threadripper. I also found turning it off negatively affects my NVMe random performance (60% drop!), which could explain your lag when accessing Explorer. SSD in the array isn't trimmed so perhaps that could be the cause but I doubt it since you seem to describe read lag and not write lag. Your 2 iso images buses are "IDE" which is incredibly out of date by now. Change it to SATA. Also your core assignment isn't ideal. The 1950X has 2 chiplets, each chiplet has 2 CCX, each CCX has 4 cores. I have found uneven load spreading across CCX can "waste" as much as a core of performance (so 7 uneven cores perform about as well as 6 cores evenly spread). So I would suggest you try something like: 1-3,5-7,9-11,13-15 + hyperthreading sisters for a total of 24. Bench that out vs your current 28 cores - I have a feeling you may be surprised as to how similar the performance is.
  18. Do these and see how it goes Start a new VM template Pick machine type = Q35-4.0.1 Pick the same GPU + HDMI + 2 additional devices you stubbed Pick Hyper-V = Yes Pick everything else the same as your current template Untick "Start VM" and Save Edit the VM in XML mode Now we try to resolve your black screen. Look for </hyperv> in the xml. Above the </hyperv> add this: <vendor_id state='on' value='0123456789ab'/> Below </hyperv> add this: <kvm> <hidden state='on'/> </kvm> <ioapic driver='kvm'/> Save your template and start your VM and keep your fingers crossed The above assumes your ROM was correctly dumped.
  19. It's not that box. It's the extra parameters box - shown when Advanced View is toggled.
  20. Always create a new VM template when changing machine type (i440fx is based on PCI and Q35 is based on PCIe, the GUI cannot deal with such drastic changes). You can always have 2 VM templates using the same hardware (and vdisk) and switch between them, in a sense, "change it back". From my experience, it is only 10-15s longer initial boot after changing machine type. However, note that frequent switching may cause Windows to require reactivation.

    UNRAID & Plex

Look for SpaceInvaderOne channel. His tutorial vids are about as close as having the guy doing it at your desk for you. For Unraid purposes, you can consider "dockers" equivalent to your phone apps.
  22. Screenshots of docker and VM tabs please. Preferably while you observe HDD activity.
  23. I'm very much interested in hearing how things go.
